A large number of photos are very misleading. They show indigenous Fijians and others and not Indians. Some photos are not even from Fiji. The narrative is incomplete but broadly accurate.
The "historian" has left out critical information: the British brought in Indians because the had just set free African slaves who refused to continue working cheap. The British exploited Indians.
This is not a true summary of the history of Guyana, any one hearing this will believe Guyana is India,Guyana is made of people whose ancestry were the first to be transported here before the Indians, your history of Guyana does not represent Guyana ,what of the first people
I am from South America and I am sure that most of southamericans don't know much about this beautiful country much less that 40 % of its population is Indian...I always thought that they were Africa descendants and indigenous.
The only problem with Guyana is that it has among the highest crime rates in the world. This despite a population of less than a million. Vast deposits of oil have been discovered offshore by Chevron and these promise to make Guyana into a very wealthy nation. Tourism has great potential as well with it's pristine wilderness. Retirement communities for elders ia another area which has tremendous potential. But crime has to be controlled and, at the moment, it is completely out of the capabilities of the current system.
And you have me the only afghan Muslim trying to work in India and they made it hell for me, I don’t know when you have such Muslim countries you don’t need any other enemies as a muslim

Indentured poor families from India must have faced real hardships adjusting to a new place far far away from their homeland ,harsh and unjust treatment from their colonial masters and bringing up their families. I am glad that eventually the descendants of our countrymen have been able to do good just like their original homeland is progressing at the moment. I wish very good relations between these two countries like India has with Mauritius which is another beautiful island country in Indian Ocean. Would like to travel sometimes to Guyana.
Unlike what the title suggests, there is nothing shocking about this video. It is a rightful tribute to the Guyanese of Indian descent and should be titled as such.
Luring poor people from India hasn't stopped. During the Iraq war many were promised work in Kuwait. When they arrived there they were bussed into Iraq to do dirty and dangerous jobs. Many were attacked or kidnapped by extremist groups that formed after the US invasion.
And what is the overall for this short documentary? Are we going to have small version of India in Canada. GTA is already packed with them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not prejudice, but a recent amount of emigrants from India rise a big question, and I'm sure not only for me. So question, why we have so many Indian coming in recent years to Canada? One more thing, their food is not that good, moreover I don't like it. I used to work on weekends in one the Indian banquets: food and presentation of those events, maybe two out of ten!
