The check valve is located inside the house and water should not freeze in the vertical riser section of the discharge pipe when filled with water after the sump pump cycles. The horizontal section of the discharge pipe to the outside, after the bend towards the outside, should have some grade/slope to it so that the water drains out of the horizontal section to the exterior after the sump pump cycles. Hope this helps.
Windsor transit is great for out and about, but this is a great step for those who want to get to Peele Island and stops in between. Rural transit always needs connectivity and here you have it to Detroit (Chicago) and Toronto (Montreal).
There is no clean out before the backflow valve? So how do you run a drain snake if let's say Roots invade the line between the house and main? There should be two cleanouts. In addition backflow should be serviced and inspected once a year.
Good afternoon, the clean out is in the correct location just inside the building/basement foundation (right side of the photo), down stream/after the back water valve (right side of the photo is towards the street). We know this just based on the direction of the open valve flap an orientation of the T-Y. Eeling/Snaking towards the municipal main can take place at this clean out just inside the building face. Alternatively, from an exterior clean out at the property line (if one exists), towards the main or in the opposite direction back towards the building.
Thank you for your comment. The City of Windsor Building Department advises that chief building officials in Ontario generally accept T-Ys on their back for cleanout purposes (residential only) as an OBC ‘Alternative Solution’ to the requirement for a Y and 45 fitting. This specific T-Y fitting is not installed to direct sewage in the direction of flow; it is only acting as an access point for testing and maintenance.
This needs maintenance. Also would be really nice if it was hardpack not gravel, joggers ignore the signs and I've crashed trying to avoid them and torn my arm open.
The routes for the regional services (25, 42, and 605) are as determined by the partner municipalities. In LaSalle’s case, the municipality directed Transit Windsor to end the route at St. Clair College. Once a passenger reaches St. Clair, they can transfer to a Route 5 or 6 bus to get to the downtown terminal.
So how is this any different from me capping my basent sewer to stop backup other than it coming up another drain..the pressure on this would be just as much as capping your floor drain..how is it not going to pop
Our Operations Department advises, the backwater valve is installed on the main sanitary pipe where it exits the building. All other piping is upstream of the backwater valve. The backwater valve stops the sewage surcharge from moving into other piping and coming up through other outlets such as floor drain and flooding all the piping in the house. If you capped only the basement sewer (floor drain), the other pipes would continue to fill to the level of the surcharge and if that level was above say, a basement shower, then the sewage would start coming out of the shower.
Not hard to get the permit from the city hall!??? ...gtfo , they all want to pay a profesional plumber for few pipes ..otherwise it won t allow it . Is not hard to read the codes and learn what's permitted and then call the inspector .. nope , gotta pay some grans $$$ for the plumber... ther are poisonous flowers, You don t need permit to be a gardener or to put oil in your car . At the end they sell pipes and plumbing equipment at the store free for public .. why it s a requirment to have aprofetional plumber instead trying yourself and calling inspection later (Just like for roof) it s " interestingly" annoying .
Thank you for your interest in Windsor Public Library. The COVID precautions depicted in this video may have changed, but for info on the latest protocols as well as how to obtain a library card, please visit www.windsorpubliclibrary.com/
Thank you for your feedback Wayne. The Ontario Building Code doesn’t allow a TY fitting on its back unless it is for venting purposes. The application shown in this video is for clean-out purposes only and will not be receiving waste, so there is no potential of clogging. Also, the installation method meets the intent of the code and makes it easier to access for cleaning.
