G'day Phil, l don't think you teach him but my young bloke at Year 9 BDC told me that you had a RU-vid Channel so l had to check it out. Good stuff....being a Sawtellian, it was great to see what can be caught off our headlands......good stuff mate. I've subbed 👍😁🇦🇺
Too funny Shane, I watched all 50 odd vids of your house Reno last year in syd before we moved up, and did a drive by on our one trip to sawtell at Christmas , I’ve owner built 2 houses and I’m currently have whole side of house open and pool 90% built but no pump yet , haven’t fished in 3 months but will hit it once this Reno is done , love to catch up , haven’t used any of your dad jokes in class yet still have enough of my own to cycle through. Cheers Phil a
Hi Phil, just subscribed to your awsome channel, have been reading your fishing world stories since th mid 80s ,really love it,,,, awsome fishing mate !!!! always an inspiration, would love some Mulloway live bait sessions if you have ,,,, Cheers Mate
@@dirtysanchez9661 yeh sorry whooping cough destroyed me for 9 weeks , had just caught it in Spanish vid been fishing twice since , doing house Reno atm , so will struggle , I will put a vid together at some stage maybe montage of last season on the stones , I’ve got plenty of ideas but little time atm and water had gone cold , salmon on beaches north of Coffs atm
do mulloway have good eyesight when it comes to leader? because I'm going out tonight and I don't know what to use, I am going for smaller mulloway just for fun like 20-50cm size, thanks
Not really mate last year there was a big black caught of the stones at tubes around 175kg and this tear has been the best blue fin tuna season in history off Sydney.
Thanks for the memories. I fished the Drum, Beecroft and Devil's Gorge up to the mid seventies, with a trip to Green Cape with Nick Demchenko thrown in where we met the Victorian crew of Geoff Wilson. Turned pro in 1976 and fished the Banks with John Ellis. I still plan to do a Hat Head trip, maybe this year, Not getting any younger.
Aweeeesome video brother. Love your land based fishing style so awesome! Those fish are insane so cool. What size/kg saltist is that one? Legend! Subscribed to your channel for sure. Lets goooo 🤙🎣
this has got to be some of my favourite content on youtube to ever exist, many thanks for putting it out phil! just wondering why you use daiwa for the spin gear but shimano for the overheads? is there a specific reason for each?
Cheers my spin gear is daiwa saltiga threadlines and my overhead spin is also daiwa SL50SH 6..2.1 fir livebait reels I use a mixture of penn international and shimano TLD reels - cheers Phil a
A good gaffman is worth his weight in gold on the stones, well done Phil. Can be the doing of a good day or bad day depending. Now is a great time for big beach combing/headland Spaniards in far northern NSW. I find them bigger on average in close now chasing the tailor and mulllet. Hope I get one too next week
G'day Phil, love the videos, watching this after getting smoked by a tuna whilst chasing tailor, didnt stand a chance haha! Do you have a vid where you go through the gear you use?
Sorry mate, just seen further down you answered a few people about rods and line 👍 How much line do you have roughly. I had around 200m of 30lb but didnt last long
Scott I’ve only got 300 of 50lb braid but I fish real heavy drag and 80lb leader the last fish have a good account but I stopped it with about 120m left on the spool , with 30lb braid you could go close to a spool job if you hook up at the front end of a long cast , 40lb braid is a good choice and popular
awesome..especially off my home headland, that North side is not an easy place to land fish.. i was watching spinning for Spaniards coincidentally on RU-vid last week..
Great tribute to Ron - wonder how many fishos tried their hand at LBG after watching the classic, 'Spinning for Spainards'. I'm sure those metal lures would work just as well today and Ron's theory about the man who makes the most casts, catches more fish, still holds true.
@@philatkinson-hw1qe haha. Fairly sure I fished the ledge at point perp with you before and after landbased addiction. Think we did OK given the gear we had 🤙
Great video Phil. Good to see these new videos after those classic LBG originals you created on VHS. Me and my mates used to watch your videos before each big LBG trip back in the 90s for motivation and build excitement. LBG is a tough slog. I'm still chasing a decent pelagic off the rocks after all these years. Thank you
Cheers mal ? Keeps me fit , I know I could do better given time effort and money but hey it’s honest and not in some fr flung destination where anyone can catch a fish - reg Phil a
Dave I think of Kimie most trips miss you guys, my son Kurt got a big permit on the cast from east pt the other day , I’ll be up in oct for a fish with you - Phil
@@topendgold9284 same-LBG bonds never break- watched Marlin Off the Rocks for the first time in a decade the other day, we both walked into Diamond together, you had your birdman T-shirt on- what a time capsule for the future we've left.
Hahahahaha, wish I still had that shirt, it was an original birdman stuka shirt stolen off my clothes line.I remember most of that day actually. The old LBG bonds are powerful, same as ex service bonds. I know, I have both.
