Welcome to my fish room. Join me each and every week and share in my aquarium hobbies. On Update Monday I give you the current state of all things in my fish room. DIY Wednesday brings you a new DIY aquarium project to save you time and money. Fan Friday highlights fish tank channels I love, along with fan suggested video topics. So come along with me and learn how to be a better aquarist!
I want something cool on my patio to initiate conversation during parties 😂 I plan on building this to be a "winter" project where I can work on it over time & beautify something like this a bit. I think it may be a cool "guppy overflow pond" type thing with edible flowers & herbs being a bonus 😊
hey, i know its been years, but i wonder how do you separate them? since i heard you need to separate them individually or they will eat eachother's limbs once they grow their front legs , i couldnt find any information about that anywhere. so i wonder if u separate them individually or just by size ? ( if by size , do any of them really ate eachother's limbs or gills?) thanks !
Man I hope you still read these, the milk crate stuffed with media how well did this work out? Did it filter great? I’m trying to do a diy filter on a stock tank also! Love the idea
@@gregjonesonline glad you seen that, so I’m housing a couple turtles I’m about to go buy me a stock tank for the garage. And I don’t want to buy a fx6 to clean weekly lol. I really like what you’ve done. It’s really a simple but effective looking idea. What kinda pump are you using from the stock tank to the media? I’m only aware of like a submerge pond pump but they might not be good for this they usually have the lil tiny pre filter.
@@LaunchingRockets any pond pump will work, if you get one with a prefilter sponge you will have to clean it, many just have a plastic screen guard, I like to aim for a pump gph that is 5x the volume of the tank so 1500 gph for a 300 gal tank, use 55 gal barrel, 1" inlet and 2" overflow with a 2" uniseal
@@gregjonesonline so you pump from the pond into the barrel with milk crate media, how does it return? Gravity return? I’m gonna do a smaller scale like 150gallon tank I have a 20gallon ish barrel I think a 5gallon bucket will slip right into nicely. I think haven’t tested it, but if it does I thought I’d just sit the barrel up on some blocks and let it gravity feed back
Nice work, and appreciate you sharing. One area of confusion for me is I understand you to say you be using all 50 gallon low boys. 50 gallon low boys are all 48” in length. You showed on the first section you have roughly 1/2” wiggle room on either side = 1inch total per section. When I calculate the length of 2x4 required for 2 sections an 8 footer is too short. My reasoning: (a) 1-1/2” at the beginning sitting in the dado cut (b) each tank is 48” - 2X48”= 96” (c) 1/2” wiggle room on each end of each aquarium = 2” (d) middle leg of 2 tank sections uses 1.5” (e) the 3rd leg uses 3/4” Total required is 101-3/4”. Meaning 8 ft (96”) is too short.
I have same kind of valve in my sprinklers box and it’s leaking on that round cap in the middle of the valve. Any way someone can tell me why and how to fix that. Before today I only had little bit of the water when I just turn the valve on. But today is full stream of water out of it. Thank you in advance.
@@gregjonesonline I’ve been trying to find newts here and there but haven’t had any luck. I used to have some when I was a kid back in the day, wayyyy back in the day lol, I’m 37 now. But if you ever feel like you could let a couple go if u get over stocked I’d love to have some. Or, do u know of a reputable dealer/breeder? Thanks and have a blessed day
Now I watched 5 other videos that says to soak then boil then soak then boil. It will leach and tannin.. and mild and kill all my fish. Smh. I’m gonna stick mine in a bucket for a week and go from there I guess. Did it harm your fish at all? I see this is an old video…. Still safe though?
Hello so i habe separate worm tanks but i put them in all tanks and id like to harvest but whats best way? I seen some say Electric but idk what they are useing
tanksalways levels flat and Styrofoam allows the tank to settle level !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, liker water in a glass... stand can be off but the always levels and the foam allows it to do so
One question 🙋 Is about the female endlres , all the female are same ? Because I saw a lots different type of endlres red , blue yellow but always I saw the same females like assorted that is normal ?
I'm doing my 1st bbs attempt. I think I may have ruined it in the first 2 hours. I became distracted and the temp got up to 92 degrees. I'm at the 32 hour mark right now and I don't see any seperation of shells so I'm guessing it's not going to hatch. Anyone else ever over heat the eggs? I'm just going to let it run till the morning and see what happens. I used SF bay eggs and right now they are all the same color which is orange. I watched several videos and nobody has ever said how to tell if they are hatched visually. They just said 24 to 36 hours.
You’d have a much easier time mixing if you use a fork to stir instead of a spoon. If you’re quick, you can use a silicone spatula to scrape out the mixing container to eliminate all waste
