Hi, this will be my first semester at Emory. Did you utilize the text books for patho and pharm? Or is the PowerPoints they provide and lecture over good enough to be successful in the class?
@NandiR.
@NandiR. 12 дней назад
I actually utilized both! The professors all test differently though. I advise using the first exam as a trial to see where each professor is getting majority of their test questions from. You got this!

Hi! I just found your channel recently and I’m loving it! I am wanting to go back to NP school soon and I was just wondering if you have had any regrets doing pediatric over FNP? I think I want to do PNP but I’m worried about the job opportunities being limited.
@NandiR.
@NandiR. Месяц назад
Hey love, great question! First and foremost, I wouldn't worry about PNP jobs being limited. No one in my cohort had any issues finding a PNP job, and we had people that stayed in state, as well as people who left state and still obtained a job. I truly think it is a personal preference. I enjoy working with children more than adults, which is why I went the PNP route. However, I do think in regards to just overall more flexibility, FNP's may have a little bit more than PNP. Basically, when you are tired of working with kids, you can go work with adults and vice versa, which I do think is a plus. I also know FNP people who thought they would be seeing both adults and kids, but their jobs often are mostly adult focused as a FNP. At the same time, as an FNP, you CAN obtain and take a PNP position. lol So basically, the answer to your question is complex. I suggest just writing out your personal pros and cons before making your final decision. The best part of being an NP is you're always a nurse first. I do my PNP job, but still plan on using my RN to do other jobs of interest.
@tays.bookcase
@tays.bookcase Месяц назад
@@NandiR. thank you for that information! Knowing that no one in your cohort had problems puts my main worry at ease, so thank you!! I definitely prefer working with kids and can’t see that ever changing, so I think I will stick with my gut instinct of PNP. Thanks again!

@tays.bookcase yes! Don't be afraid to do what your heart desires. I was told that I should've done FNP as well, but I went the AGNP route. I didn't have any problems finding a job. I had 2 job offers before graduating. I'm a Sexual Health NP now.

Congratulations on your exam pass!! Do you know if the PNCB exam had any statistics questions? Also, how in depth did they go on syndromes? The Board Vitals question cover such a long list of genetic syndromes/disorders that I never learned about in NP school and a good chunk of them aren't found in the purple review book. And lastly, do you have any suggestions on how we should be scoring on the PNCB practice exams? I noticed the PNCB rationale didn't give much feedback on that. Congratulations again!!
@NandiR.
@NandiR. Месяц назад
I cannot remember any stat questions on the exam, but I also took my boards a while ago at this point - so don't quote me on that. In regards to syndromes, I would focus on the ones reviewed in the purple book. Board Vitals goes above and beyond when it comes to a lot of topics. Board Vitals is good practice, but do not overwhelm yourself with everything they cover on there. It's most important that you know the top/most popular syndromes. And, I did not focus on a "score" for the practice exams. Focus more on knowing everything you should know about the topics discussed within the practice questions, than your actual score - if that makes sense. Hope this helps!

Admin day is a day in clinic not seeing patients or at home charting or something?
@NandiR.

Correct, it was a day dedicated to doing work for patients, but just in the comfort of your home. For example, I would review and send over lab results to patients via the patient portal or finish up charts, etc.

How many weeks/months did you have to give before quitting?
@NandiR.
@NandiR. Месяц назад
TBH, it's been so long now that I really do not remember. I definitely was not there a year though. I probably quit after 6 months, but that's just an estimate at this point. I did not sign a contract that required me to stay for a specific period of time, and I am glad I didn't lol so when I was ready to leave, I left. No regrets.
