Just Jax here, love art? check me out! Drawing to sculpture, sewing to jewellery making, teaching and learning along the way. I love art, music, dogs (especially my girls,) food (so the odd baking/cooking video will crop up, cake decorating is a whole different art form.)

ru-vid.com/show-UCHfF-WM38acssEsSiMAYGow

New videos go up every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. New Shorts go up every Tuesday and Thursday and Saturday. As for Sunday, since I have an influx of Picasso canvas' to work on, it's Picasso Sunday.

My content will be open and honest, if my drawing goes wrong, you'll see that, cake becomes a pancake, you'll see that too, nothings perfect in life and very rarely goes as planned. All success' and failures will go up and (if I can work out why,) how to fix those wobbly art days.

Hope you find something of interest while visiting my channel and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Take care

I think the painting looked great! I had an imaginative idea for that mold (though I think in execution, it would be hard to accomplish). Imagine: starting with clear resin, placing a tiny fish insert in such a way that it sits in the middle of the helmet. Then, filling up the moon (asteroid?) part of the mold with a solid color. There would be some overlap with the space suit's body or legs, but when you paint the space suit, it would hide the seam between clear and colored resin. Then, when painting the space suit, leaving the face window open so you could see in to it and see the little fish... or, for a halloween-esque version, floating a skull inside the helmet. Ha-Ha! These are the multi-step project that I try to do... and they are the reason why I am surrounded with 1/2 finished things! So, While not really practical, I thought maybe you'd like to hear how your video inspired this creative idea in me. ❤ Nice work!

Thank you so much for the support and checking me out. I absolutely loved reading the ideas this video gave you. That's one of the things I love most about making and sharing art, the bounce back on ideas. Your idea paints such a vivid picture in my mind I'm going to have to try it! Right now I'm torn between goldfish and skull as both genius for different reasons! Think I'll start by making both a little goldfish and skull then see where I end up. Also added thanks for fueling creativity ❤️

I think I would put a thin amount of resin dry it and then add the nail polish and allow it to dry and let the polish move around making the design by maybe using a dropper or a brush to create designs that will be abstract and then add some trinkets maybe very small beads or maybe foil before adding a second thin coating after drying the first completely or even using a very fine grit sandpaper to give the polish something to adhere to and dry then add second layer of resign and see how that turns out. I am not and expert I am a amiture at best. these are not to condemn your work or even criticize anything you have done Just a friendly suggestion. Please take this as advice or something to consider nothing more, I have no reason to insult or criticize anyone for their efforts on to suggest another option. Hiya hunni. What a little cutie he turned out to be. I keep thinking it looks like a mouse from certain angles lol. I'm going to drop a bit more advice for you. When you de-moulded him you said it looked squished but you couldn't see any residue left in the mould. I am a little worried that the same thing I did a while ago has happened with you now. I was making some small lightbulbs with UV resin and was adding colour to it and filling the mould and then putting it under the UV light. I was getting some deformed but felt fully cured. I made them up into keychains and added fluffy ball things with them and popped them away for when I needed them. When I came to get them ready to give as gifts, I discovered that all of the darked 1's had not been completely cured all the way through and the had spilt open and wrecked the fluffy balls as well as the lightbulbs themselves. I have since made them again by not using too dark of a colour for the UV resin as the light struggles to get all the way through. I recommend you pop him on a little plate of some sort to catch any resin if the same happens to you. Also, I really wouldn't recommend using UV resin in a mould that isn't transparent. You will get a much better result for this type of technique and that colour of mould if you use epoxy or polyurethane resins. Anyway, sorry for the huge comment again lol. I just want you to get the best results that you can. All the best, Diane x

Hiya. I haven't seen anyone using pigment colours like this before. They are designed for mixing into the resin thoroughly so they don't come out sticky like they did for you here. I watched the other video you mentioned too and the same thing applies. You could try mixing a little of the pigment into some UV or epoxy resin, whichever you're working with, and try adding it into the clear that way. So not to flood it with too much pigment. Or maybe try some alcohol inks and see if that works better for you. They work a treat for this kind of technique. I hope you don't mind me saying this. I'm only trying to offer you some advice as I have been working with resin for many years now, and believe me when I say, I'm still learning new things myself lol. All the best, Diane x

Hiya Jax. The results were interesting with the playdough. Not keen on the idea of having to sand cardboard off the back lol. Also really don't think that would would with epoxy as it takes too long to cure and would just spread out and soak in more. As for the bubble wrap, that's a technique that went round a fair bit last year. I have a video, yet to finish editing cuz its so long lol, using this technique from last year too. Works a treat with epoxy and after removing the bubble wrap you can rub chameleon powder over the texture and back it with black and it looks amazing. New subscriber here and looking forward to seeing what you have to come. Diane x PS. Can I just ask why you hold the UV light so high up and move it around so much? For small amounts of UV resin like that, it would be fine with the light straight over it. Just curious is all lol x

Hiya Diane, thank you for checking me. The playdoh was interesting, going to try plastercine amongst other bits next time. Yeah the cardboard maybe not so, but I've since read packaging tape works as a liner to card, so will give that a go. Wow, that sounds so cool, the bubble wrap I fell in love with, will definitely check your video out when up! As for the light dancing, it was advice I was given from another subscriber so since I was (am still really) new to UV resin I tried it but I'm always up for advice and if you reckon small bits don't need the light show I'll try being lower and stationary, that way at least I can prop it up and get on with other bits. Thank you again x

Just finished watching! You're definitely making progress! Again, my main tip is to combine use of both lamps on everything. Some pieces I probably cure TOO long but I typically only do 30-60 sec with the torch/flashlight before putting it under the higher-wattage lamp. I see you tried my tip about bringing the light down slowly in circular motion to begin with. Nice!! :) I will say that most times I still use my UV lamp (similar to the nail lamp you found) and cure both sides an additional 2-4 minutes (usually 4 min on front and 2 min on back after that). That might help with the overall stickiness. And yes using alcohol on the piece once done will remove any additional stickiness. I hope you're having fun!! :)
@jenniferspengler4688
@jenniferspengler4688 6 месяцев назад
I should also mention I have only used Let's Resin brand UV resin so far. I'm almost out of it and I have some stuff I got from TEMU that I'm going to use after that. I'm a little nervous about it lol.... but I wish I could attest to different brands, but I can't. I will say that I've enjoyed using the LR brand, and so far it has provided awesome results. And with your mold, I can't tell if it is a shiny or dull mold. That will also affect the finish on the piece. top-coating should shine them right up if the mold is indeed matte :)

quick tips that might help with cloudiness and the like in the future -- when starting to put under uv, hold the light high (a meter or so) in the air and in a circular motion around the piece slowly descend with the light toward the piece. Too much UV too fast can cause lumps and clouds. I had to learn that the hard way but I know better now! Hopefully that tip will help you as well. Also a top coat over the cloudy side MIGHT brighten it up for you should you choose to add another layer. I have a lamp on a stand I use but I use my torch first from up high before putting under the bigger lamp. It has greatly improved my results! Keep at it if you enjoy it. I find it to be so much fun. I love that the working time is unlimited, and there are so many ways to use it and keep things interesting! :)
