We are a mother-in-law (Erica) and daughter-in-law (Daphne) duo who love to spend our free time crafting. Rose Opal Knits is a crafty RU-vid channel. We love to talk about all our craft related pursuits - especially knitting, crochet, yarn dyeing, cross stitch, and knitting pattern design. We enjoy engaging with our community of makers by organizing make-alongs and offering prizes. We record a podcast episode every other week, and we recently started vlogging moments of our lives. We share free knitting patterns on the blog at our website, roseopalknits.com.

I’m so sorry you were sick for Mother’s Day! I had a nice relaxing day. My older daughter crocheted me a blanket! I think it’s one of only a few times someone has made ME something, usually it’s the other way around. 😃
Maybe you can do 30 minutes a day on your husband blanket. That is what crazy socks lady does. Good luck. Love both of your tops. Happy crafting. From Australia 💐🧶🧶
Hi Ladies! Such a fun podcast. I’m a continental knitter and yes, I am a loose knitter. Most of the time, I have to go down needle sizes except for socks. I just make a smaller size sock. Have a great week.
I am a continental knitter😊 I am a very loose knitter 😮 I seem to have to go down one or two needle sizes that the pattern call for and also knit at least one size smaller than my normal size. 😢
I am an English style knitter, my nan taught me that way when I was little- but it’s weird because I then found crochet and apparently when you crochet you usually end up switching to continental style knitting
I started out as an english thrower, but a few years ago I switched to continental. I feel like mybgauge varries based on the designer but i am mostly on gauge or loose.
I am an English style knitter. I have been knitting off and on for 60 yrs having been taught by an aunt. I have never did a swatch gauge except for my first musselburgh hat. Everything I have knit has fit everyone I have made it for. I mostly knit socks for the past 12?/14? years as my daughter-in-law and 5 grandchildren love them. It doesn't seem like I knit tight or loose, apparently I knit just right for the patterns I choose.😁🤷♀️
I am a continental knitter, not sure if I knit tight or loose, I usually get gauge for sweaters with the recommended needle size. However I have size 7 feet normal width and I knit socks 56 stitches on size 0 so does that make me a loose knitter?
I'm a continental knitter and I'm spot on usually but maybe a bit tighter, I sometimes have to go up a needle size, never down though, I learned to knit when I was in school at about 9 until 16 years and stopped after that until I was like 38 years😂
Continental and loose! I always go down a needle size or even two. I was taught by a friend who was born in Switzerland and learned in school in 1st grade. Happy knitting, everyone!
I'm an English style knitter because that's how i learned from a book over 40 years ago. 😬 But i became a flicker on my own. I think my gauge is average. I'm definitely not a tight knitter. I love your podcast. You both are lovely crafters.
I am an English knitter and for many years I was on the loose side but that was long ago and now I'm usually spot on. I swatch the the old fashioned way, knit a certain amount then check to see if it's OK!! Luckily it usually is.
I’m a continental knitter I started crocheting first. I’m a tight knitter but it has been getting looser. My youngest daughter turned 1 on May 1st. Happy Belated Birthday to your littles!
I am an English style knitter but I knit colorwork in Continental. I'm hopelessly loose in my knitting which I only mind when knitting socks as I use size 0 needles and get something like 7-8 stitches per inch. 😥
I'm an English style knitter. I used to be a really tight knitter when I started 20+ years ago. I still knit English style, but am now a loose knitter.
I'm an English knitter of nearly 50 years. I find I'm usually pretty close to gauge on most things but once in a while i might have a project that maybe a bit tight. Looking forward to summer sock camp...not planning a lot, but i have a couple pairs that were due at Christmas that still haven't been started.
I love all your cross stitch WIPs! I need to get back to some stitching, but it cuts in to my knitting time! 😂 How do you keep track of how many stitches you do?
I know what you mean. I am definitely getting less knitting done this year, but I am enjoying all of the progress on my cross stitch WIPs! I finally took some time to figure Pattern Keeper. I currently have two projects that I am using there. The rest of the patterns are on paper and I manually count them. I try to color complete in a general area. I pick my color and count those stitches before I stitch them. Sometimes it's 11 and sometimes it's 311. Lol. I keep my counts in a notebook. Then I start stitching! I only started counting them for the WIP Warriors group, but now I enjoy doing it. 😊
I’m an English knitter (a thrower) and almost always go up 1 or 2 needle sizes. I’ve been knitting for 50+ years having been taught by a family friend’s right-handed daughter. Mom is a lefty and I am not. Enjoyed your episode.
I love the pattern. I’ve not started it yet, thinking about yarn choices. I feel like a wool sweater for a rabbit isn’t a good idea 😅. I’m a continental knitter. I’m looser knitter on wooden needles and slightly tighter on metal ones. I don’t have any IRL knitting friends to compare to, and I don’t gauge swatch, I’m typically just knitting socks and other accessories. But I will swatch for the bunny sweater! Maybe… we’ll play it by ear 😁
Im an English style knitter, I taught myself how to knit in 2018 through very pink knits and other RU-vid sites. My gauge is usually a little tighter and I will go up one US size when making a garment. Great to see you ladies again! I am also not a sock knitter, but I knit socks. I have 4-5 sock wips now. I have to wear compression socks to work, and I don’t generally go anywhere else 😂
Continental knitter, English purler(as if that is a word😂). I am a loose knitter which ever way I knit. I learned to knit when I was 7 years old, 57 years ago 😮. Knit English until about 14 years ago then switched for pain relief, but if I purl Continental I tend to row-out. Have to go down needle size. Have a blessed week 🌼
I'm a continental knitter and I'm a slightly tight knitter. When I first started knitting I was a extremely tight knitter but have learned to loosen my tension.
I can do both styles of knitting - Continental and English - but my preferred method is continental. And I fit the stereotype because I am a loose knitter.
