I am a Germany-based travel photographer, making videos about all things photography and photo editing. I usually miss sunrises (who wants to get up that early) and basically always have rain during sunsets, so I focus on creative editing to bring the greatness out of mundane or boring photos.
@@PhillipGlombik it was a gray squirrel and his tail looked red because of the sunlight hitting it. He looked amazing. I'll have to check out that video. I'm not great at editing, that part I don't have much practice on.
Ohhhh that sounds like a super lucky light situation! Sometimes editing is not super needed when you get lucky - but as an editing lover myself, I would always recommend a little touch up personally :) let me know if that squirrel video helps! Also depends on what software you would want to use, if any.
I sometimes take 30 from the same angle because I can't be bothered to decide what the best settings are and just take a few in each. Also, why take one photo, then take a few seconds to check its okay when you can just keep shooting?
Totally agree - I’m a total Spray and pray dude 😂😂 same with focusing - I could check the photo and refocus if I need to - but I can also just take 20 shots and change focus slightly so the good one HAS to be in there 😂😂 in the times of large sd cards, that’s really no problem anymore. Some would say that this takes away from the skill of setting the camera right the first time and it’s wasting time“ but … nah 😂
@PhillipGlombik every now and again, I like to make a point of only taking one photo. There was this guy a while back who made a photo album where he took one photo a day. I was curious and tried just one photo of a lakeshore. Spending the time to make sure the angle was perfect, focus, everything else was meditative.
That’s for sure, it has a super calming effect as you’re fully focused on the photo. But if there’s FOMO (fear of missing out), I think I have FOMTPS - fear of missing the perfect shot 😂 Respect that you tried though - whatever works for oneself … works! Did the photo turn out the way you wanted in the end, too?
I'm a landscape and nature photographer but because I am only 15 years old I haven't heard these yet. I use Canon and Nikon but I usually use my Nikon camera given a choice based off of lens options, if anyone is reading this who is a photographer, feel free to let me know your thoughts on Nikon and Canon, or which is better and why
Honestly, it's not a huge difference between them. Use the one most comfortable in your hands, and you'll get the best photos. I use a Nikon because it was a better price at the time I got into photography, and now that I'm used to where everything is, cannon feels weird in my hands. Focus more on finding the best sights and enjoying the journey. And don't be afraid to take more photos than you need, you can always pick the one you like best later.
What Matthew said! Couldn’t have said it better. They’re all good options and there’s no right or wrong - the only thing to keep in mind is to do testing before you start spending a bit more money on lenses. The worst thing is to switch brands after 5 years and not being able to use the lenses anymore 😂 But from the sounds of it you got this! Thinking of lens availability is smart as it can save you money in the future. I’m a Sony dude because the first camera I ever got was Sony - no other reason 😂
I had a co-worker who was close to retirement and also into photography. I jokingly told him "hey, I accidentally ordered this lens and it is for a Nikon but I use a Canon. They are sending me the right one now, but they didn't ask for the wrong one back. Since you use a Nikon you want it?" His response was "Maybe..." as he was opening the box it was in up. It took him a minute to realize it was a mug and started laughing. I then said "Happy retirement, I would of gotten you a lens but I just couldn't afford it." He absolutely loved it, I have seen some pictures his wife has taken and the mug appeared in them from time to time.
Weddings are no joke. Even if it's friends and family, it can be really high stress and sooo much editing. I like doing doing nature and candids, and have some experience with weddings, but some of those shots you only have a split second to capture and the moment is gone.
Use to use Affinity but just for some clean up & while I did play with some layer work after watching some vids, never stuck with it. Mostly LR6. After a computer reset, had to upgrade. LRC &PS. Still just some clean up. I know I need to get into it heavier at some point. Don't feel like plastering my email here for the book but thanks for the offer.
Well if you’re happy with your edits without going super heavy on layers then that’s ok! Whatever works for you - I personally love the freedom to just do what I want and where in the photo, so for me it’s a must haha. And of course, don’t post your email here! You can ping me on insta @letsimage if you want (and no you don’t have to follow lol) and I shoot you the link there. Thanks for watching!
Sorry! It’s a thing that actually happened to me recently but of course not everyone knows what ISO is. It’s a measure of the sensitivity of your camera sensor - but basically all images were grainy as hell.
Thank you! And absolutely! For this you might wanna check out tutorials about the hue saturation adjustment and curves - with those two tools you can get a look like that :)
I have never been able to stitch a Spherical Panorama in Luminar Neo firstly it wont stich correctly unless I select cylindrical during the process, and the most frustrating part is while I can change the sky in NEO when I view the panorama in Kuula or any preview software there is a massive stitch line. Even when the panorama is constructed within Luminar neo.
@@PhillipGlombikyou’re someone with 5k subscribers but only gets 18 likes and 2 real comments on month old videos - it seems like you bought 5000 subscribers
@cewla3348 yeah that’s why I’m putting out more shorts these days than normal videos. They seem to be better at initial reach. For the normal videos reach is way less 🤷🏼♂️
Sorry but that lightsource thing with the radiant may look nice but about everyone seems to be doing it now so it makes it very generic and even fake to be honest. But I do like the rest of the tutorial so i admit its also matter of taste
Totally get that. To me, it’s a method to drive attention somewhere in the image, like a vignette - which tbh is also totally overused. I’m guilty of that as well … but as you said, I’d also say it’s a matter of taste. Great that you liked the rest of the tutorial though!
Omg yes! I have another video planned to make that point exactly - but couldn’t have said it better! Good to get out and focus on the moment rather than all the issues one has :)
Well yeah but I don’t see myself using the 8k video - I don’t think my MacBook can take it haha. But it’s a good upgrade from my previous a7iii in terms of focus, resolution and (!) focus stacking. It’s heavier though so let’s see, I’ll try it out in Sri Lanka in two weeks!
Having said that … the damn screen! Finally! The amount of times I was lying on the ground cause I couldn’t see what I was doing haha, that’s finally over!
Right??? This will save me so much frustration when it’s raining or just dusty. And it saves hours of editing when you have to remove that one dust spot from every photo after a 2 weeks travel -.-
me too, i have a panasonic lumix g6 it has a ultrasonic cleaner build in but if you use it sometimes it gets worse as before. i hate touching the sensor with something. i know it cant break easy, but micro scratches can form and those will never go away. yea i thinks closing the shutter if the bionette is open is a cool and usefull function
Don't ever justify your prices. People who don't understand experience and quality are not the people you want to do business with. You do amazing work.
I hate this when peole always bring equipment price to explain why the service is expensive. Yeah, if that the case ice cream could be 1000$ because the machine and the ingredients cost like million.
Then you do it and charge less, I tried that. It's shit. People take advantage of you. Reality is no one is going to go out and buy this highly specialized gear for thousands of dollars. That's where the premium rate comes in. If you want to pay less then hire someone with an Iphone camera
Mh. Totally fair - but in your example some people have the ice cream machine and charge a dollar more, while others don’t, buy it ready made and charge less. I personally think equipment cost does flow in there somewhat - though there are enough costs without the equipment as well, apart from time and expertise. No right or wrong here I’d say 🤷🏼♂️
And we all know the results you get with that 😂 (usually, there are exceptions of course - iPhone Academy actually gets some brilliant stuff out of an iPhone haha)
@kennyyuliandrika7162 just from this comment, i understand that you never owned or operated a business (or become a head of a business). Just continue to scroll youtube shorts or return to your tiktok. Just know this: doing a job and doing a job professionally is 2 seperate things that not everyone knows...
Yeah very fair. Depending on what you take photos of, some recurring costs are quite high though. For me the travel, for a wedding photographer a second shooter, etc. and the online prices of it all are the most annoying 😂 but yeah totally fair (unless you buy cameras like people new iPhones haha)
