Hi, I'm StormTEC, and welcome to my channel. We have riding videos, motorcycle reviews, discussions related to motorcycles, gear reviews, jokes, motovlogs, reaction videos and more! Stay tuned and stick around because if you're into motorbikes there's probably content on this channel you will enjoy!
There does seem to be more women riding lately (and racing), but motorcycling in the UK is a dying sport/hobby to an extent. I don't think it'll ever die out completely, but there is a clear downward trend in the number of people riding. Like you touched on it has become too expensive to learn to ride in comparison to driving a car, and the licensing system is too convoluted as well. It used to be the case that riding a bike was vastly cheaper than driving a car, but there's not that much of a difference in the cost these days. I feel lucky to have experienced motorcycling in the 2000's, it was a much different paradigm back then. These days it seems to be all about old boys on overpriced ADV bikes religiously spouting the highway code everywhere they go, really no wonder that young people aren't excited by motorcycles like they used to be.
Great points. I was surprised the other day when I called my local bike mechanic to find out he's only in the garage 3 days a week now and is working 2 jobs because of how little business he's getting. Sad downtrend on bikes recently. But I can't blame anyone, I'm going off it a little too, weather is always crap and everything is expensive as well!
Excellent video my friend. I have a 2005 all blacked out ZX 12 R it’s a wonderful machine. I will keep this bike for the rest of my life. Thank you for putting up such an in-depth video.
I mean, slow bikes are fun when you're new to bikes, and they're AWESOME fun in the right circumstances... But you know what? It's WAY more fun to ride a fast bike fast, than a slow bike "fast". There's so much cope, but it's unnecessary. I mean, my MT10SP was *wild* fun, but I didn't feel the tradeoffs were worth it for me. My Scrambler 1200 is nowhere near as fast - and it's not somehow more fun to ride as fast as it will go than the MT10 was even at that speed - but it does other things much better. But I'm not gonna pull cope and say it's more fun because it's slower, that's ridiculous. If it kept everything else the same but doubled its horsepower output, it'd be *better*.
Excellent video... Excellent commentary... Let me help you with a couple things.. I've owned both of these motorcycles in fact I still have the ZX12R... The difference between both of these motorcycles was that the Hayabusa had a hydraulic clutch with a much much better selection of drag racing clutch parts... And the power delivery of the Suzuki Hayabusa was a lot more turkey but not as fast as the ZX12R. The ninja was a wild beast from the planet hell, and the power delivery was absolutely psychotic and scary in most ways... There was a couple different ways to do 195 mph with a stock motorcycle back in those days and honestly the Kawasaki was very scary and brutal with the way it accelerated the Suzuki Hayabusa with smoother and easier to deal with. And I kept my ZX12R
it is NOT male dominated on social media.. when it comes to actual riding yes but girls are taking over on social media. Wearing leggings & riding is like a free 100k followers
The person who taught me to ride a motorcycle at my msf course was a 60 year old woman. Its definitely a male dominated hobby but I think its less dominated than you think it is. However, its not a bad thing this hobby is male dominated, people who complain about motorcycles being to male heavy are just silly. I think this hobby is male dominated because woman just naturally dislike driving more than men. Most of the woman i know dont even have a drivers license. their reasoning for not having one is that roads are scary, people driving are idiots, and i dont want to die. Valid reasons enough to not drive so its obvious that they would'nt then go learn to ride a motorcycle. It is not at all mens fault that there are less woman riders. I havent had first hand experience with the "woke mob" targeting motorcyclists. If what you experience is mostly just people online being idiots i wouldn't drum it up to "the left hates motorcycles". I would say motorcycle hate isnt a left/right issue, People on both sides love to ride motorcycles. Im on the left, i ride one. Most of the idiots you see complaining about this are just that, idiot's. (Sorry for the essay idk why i care so much)
Mmm, I didn't explain it well in the vid because was busy riding, but in my head I'm thinking about all the other hobbies/interests that get taken over by the woke mob, like movies, comics, politics, video games, even now WH40K is tilting that way a little. And it's interesting that cars/trains/bikes etc is going to remain a "no girls allowed zone" by the looks of it
There needs to be more incentives for women to get involved. I hate the fact the average male rider is 54 now and that will keep going up. Is motorcycles a hobby? I juse it just for transport just like the koreans and chinese do
Is it actually 54? That's insane. That being said, whenever I turn up at a biker place, i'm usually the youngest one there and I'm 30. So that's probably true
Good advice, I'd not considered taking my ring off. My tips are, I drink apple juice when on a long ride, apparently it boosts brain function. Also. if a car drives too close behind (admittedly quite rare!) and I'm in slow traffic unable to filter, I make a slow down signal similar to a gentle pushing down action with my left hand, it's usually effective.
I have Mr turbo zx12r, 12 over, air shifter, 8 psi. People always look at you like your crazy. It has a major traction problem. Dont really get to use the full power till 100 mph+.
Its important to tuck your body into a ball so to not expose your limbs and not act like a ragdoll I see plenty off Isle of man tt riders do. Nootropic brain supplements can ehance focus and concentration And hi viz strip tape on your bike too and helmet. VR visor heads up display and Vision 1 which is an anti collision avoidance system u attach to your bike. What is bikelife in Germany like?
When I was a kid there was a guy I knew who crashed while not wearing gloves and had a metal watch on. It buried itself up his forearm, messed him right up.
Seriously though, heated gear is awesome. Even if you're not riding in below freezing temps, it's so much nicer to wear light summer gear and a heated jacket liner (with wrist ports to power gloves) and be warm and snuggly without any added bulk. It's not even particularly expensive, and it'll extend your riding season (in the UK at least) to be basically all year round.
