I have The same opinion, German cars have bad rep because of the people who own them, most of the owners are rich and have them as their second car, they drive hard, ignore warning, push them to their limit, do u tasteful and warranty voiding mods and sell them as soon as newer model comes.
this is only partially true. It depends on the kind of damage that occurs. If it´s just wear, yes he is right. But there are alot of cars that break because it is clearly poorly engineered and not because of wear.
Dude has a point, but there are still some models or engines to stay away from, also the advanced electronics in these cars compared to an economic class segment. All leads to a bad reputation. Also not many people know how to fix these cars, so you need a good mech or take it to a dealer
Do you know that E9x chassis have EPS in EU? And it's a really good one! You think the F series is a step down because you've only tried the stereotyped kind of bmw sold overseas
German:If you repair your car correctly and every 3k miles you get maintenance that has crazy prices at dealerships to do it “rightl, it won’t break Japanese: you can replace the gas tank with an empty milk jug and it will give you 3 more hp
When I hear shit like this, I think to myself, how can I treat an Ignition Coil? Or Ignition control module? Or ECU? Or a cluster? Or an electric throttle body? Most of the parts that break in German cars, AREN'T PARTS THAT ARE MEANT TO BE MAINTAINED IN ANY WAY, and definitely aren't parts that care about how you treat a car. You could drive a car like a grandma, and you could take it everyday on a track for 8 hours. The car's ECU doesn't see a difference. So WHY DOES THE ECU ON MY DAD'S VW keep failing us, (as most electronics) and why does my Honda last more than a rock?
Let's dissect this from my experience first of All I'm not saying this guy is right or wrong he makes sense but... I don't think there's any man alive that will say a bmw m5 is gonna be more reliable than a Corolla. One can go forever with oil changes tires and brakes the other probably not. Having said that if you follow the maintenance maybe you'll get good reliable service. I think if you're specifically taking about new cars then the answer is definitely Japanese cars are more reliable and if you're talking about used cars then the answer is yes Japanese cars are also definitely more reliable😂. And if you're talking about high mileage cars haha.
Beat the shit outta a C5/C6 vette- like literally beat the snot outta it take it to the track every weekend & DD in between & literally drive to & from the track…tires, brakes, fluids, the occasional end link/ball joint….thats bout it, & the parts can be as cheap or as expensive as you’d like
Ay least you have warranty. You really scared me with your N20 engine rebuilt, I just bought a couple of weeks ago my 320i 2017, but with B48 engine hehe. Keep us posted about your new G20! P.S I think it all comes down to previous maintenance from previous owners!
If you’re a DIY kind of guy you’ll notice mechanics rip us off on German cars in the USA. Ex. BMW DIY oil changes cost 3$ more for the oil and filter because they hold slightly more oil. You’ll also notice the absolutely massive difference in quality of the parts down to the cabin and engine air filters. Everything is way better in the German car. BMW warranties their cars from rust for 12 years and 100,000$ miles. Japanese cars can’t do that because they would pay out on every car they sold in a cold climate.
Finally an explanation for why you hear all the hate on German cars which are far better. They last way longer where I live than a Japanese car if you follow the maintenance manual. We use so much road salt in buffalo your Japanese car will crack in half after 15 years vs a German car with solid rust protection which will still be solid. They’re won’t even have visible rust, but your Toyota or Honda will look like shit and not be safe at all.
The Germans design the car with RULES AND BOUNDARIES in mind!!! That's why if you stick to the RULES AND BOUNDARIES it will last forever. Japanese know that most user are IDIOTS!!! That's why their cars can take more abuse. lol
Western stuff do too much propaganda and charge high price for unreliable and fools buy it . I was one such fool . Got bmw , never ever I am going to own a western car again . Lexus is better
Not quite true, you'll get a person looking after their Hyundai Gets better than someone looking after their Lambo, it's personality, sports cars gets hit on, that is why the owner buys one. Track days etc, then if the gearbox packs up it's a rubbish car. My BMW IS 34yea4s old and 750 000 kms engine has not been opened, because I look after it and drives it with respect, I can say, not many people has the pleasure of passing me on the freeway. But I must say the new cars are all plastic, which are made to biodegrade, handles go brittle, covers go brittle, cars are just not made to last, my new Merc is a nightmare, it has too much rubbish that can go wrong. But the dealers, and mechanics aren't trained to fix the new cars anymore, they just fit new parts. New BMW, MERCS, VW, AUDI ETC. the engines are smaller and smaller with turbos and superchargers, these engines are highly tuned and under stress ALL the time, so these new cars will start to smoke after 150 000 kms. My Merc, tells me to add 1 lite of oil every 1000kms apparently it's normal. 230 compressor.
German cars are expensive to repair so no one could maintain them properly so when they got too bad they just sold them or traded them in, if they did the research before they bought them they would have known better and why they were being sold so cheap
