Definitely change the OOB rule to treat it as a penalty drop. Going back to the tee is too time consuming. Same with lost ball. Drop one in the vicinity of the lost ball and take one penalty shot. The rest of these are all rubbish.
Regarding Provisional ball. I have had people go deep into unpleasant areas and find my ball which I have then got to play. There is no such thing as declaring the ball lost.
The genesis of PING putters was Solheim learning to play golf in his 30’s in the 1950s with blade irons and a Acushnet “Bulleye” brass putter which has so much toe bias it tries to twist in the hand open going back and closed going forward. MB Blades do the same thing. With his engineering background he realized the solution was to take mass out of the toe and move it to the heel increasing the momentum of inertia-resistance to twisting. His first putter design, a mallet style called the 1A was prototyped with two tounge depressors separated by two sugar cubes on the ends with shaft in the middle. The Anser is designed with the same high-MOI concept but actually optimized for the inside-square-inside putting stroke used in the 1960s. I have six different Anser designs found in thrifts from the 1960s onwards which all hang at a 40° - 45° angle. The cause and effect is - assuming arced putting stroke - is the heel-toe balance will match the golfer’s arc and automatically keep the face square to that arc with ball placed were the tangent to the arc points at the target. His High-MOI PING EYE irons marketed between 1962 and the release of the EYE2 twenty years later do the same. I have sets of both. What happens when an Anser is used with a modern straight stroke? It will have toe bias relative to the swing line and try to twist a bit in hand but not nearly as much as Bullseye - had several of those too, and a backyard green to experiment with on 😊 A ‘face balanced’ mallet is the better choice for a straight putting stroke with a anchored mallet so easy to putt with the USGA banned anchoring. Another bit of putter trivia is that when the PRO VI was introduced putting accuracy stats from ten feet and in decreased because it reacted to putts much differently than the Balata balls because of the hard mantle layer under the thin urethane cover. That problem was solved by putting polymer inserts on the putter face. Conclusion? Technically speaking with todays balls and a straight putting stroke a face balance mallet with a polymer inserts would be a starting good baseline to evaluate other styles from for comparison. In theory it should be easiest to put straight with it but there are many differences in personal putting styles YMMV. I had been using a Ping PAL (a Tom Watson favorite) for many years but recently switched to an early 2000s Anser ‘Response’ model which has a less toe bias than the PAL.
How many entered qualifying and got through? If there were people who did enter qualifying and got through, surely it's better they play rather than underperforming "names".
Where people leave their power cart is especially infuriating...with people leaving them on the fairway....before the green....and then having to walk back to the cart...and preventing anyone from playing up to that point. The other one is people who take endless practice swings. I played on a course recently....where a woman ahead did about 12 practice swings...lol...while in a group of 5 people (limit is 4). It was infuriating.
I absolutely love the short game so many options with shots, although the lie usually tells me the shot to play, my friend would ask me why do you carry three irons to green for a simple shot this simple shot can save par or chip in a birdie which I almost always chip one in every time I play
Personally, who cares what club you use to get to the hole. If I use driver, 9 wood and two putts its a par. If you use driver, 5 iron and two putts it a par. The score card doesn't care what u use to get it. 3 hcp or 15 hcp it's what u need to get the job done.
What’s the etiquette expectations around shooting a youtube video on a golf course… group behind allow you so many takes without smashing balls at you on the green?
If you look at the Camara man Suddenly they dont zoom into the lie off the ball in the ruff Because 100 percent of times the ball will move at address Altogether know 1 2 3 Crooks from officials lawmakers and players What a joke has gholf become Like little boys
You don’t need 3000+ shots for Arccos and data like this from anything ON THE COURSES to help you. And as you get better which will happen with choosing the right clubs, the numbers will constantly be shifting. This helps you make better club choices and hence course management.
I have a Taylormade Flextech and the bag is just subpar. The legs never stay with the bag while walking, the dividers are partial and cause clubs to slide through, storage is lackluster, zippers are poor, and strap system just feels cheap.
The “reasonable” scenario never happens, especially on tour. It has to be way more “unreasonable” than what you described. And since it’s your competitor who is the one who challenges it, you can call in an official. If no official is around, you can play 2 balls, one your way and one the other player says, write down both scores, and figure it out later on after the round with a official or neutral third party’s decision.
