I had mine drill in a super classic 4 × 35 "continuous" layout. I love it. Works great for my low speed medium rev rate style. Haven't tried throwing it on fresh yet as I have other balls for that. For the $103 bucks I paid, I'm loving it.
He's awesome! I got help from Mark too. Timing was his thing for me as well. I didn't have an issue stating under and behind the ball, but I did miss in and out a lot. I'm the same height as Mark, and he told me to bowl big because I was tilting wayyyyy too soon.
This vibe is definitely the strongest one yet. I think its great for medium to high rev rates on house. Your zig zag looks super weak, very lazy on the back. Mine is only a step under the effect cause it doesnt pick up quite as early.
@@TheBowlingNerd we got similar style/line I wanted the new venom exj but think the cover is too strong. I’m leaning toward the black but still deciding. If you love it. Gotta think it would work well for me
Mark Baker is what a coach should be imo. He doesn’t break you down or make you feel silly for attempting anything. He even stated himself he doesn’t want anyone to feel bad or be berated for not doing something good. He wants you to learn and enjoy it. I’m so tempted to send a vid so I can get advice on my 2h situation
I have this ball. I like it, but it definitely seems very forward to me. Playing straighter it often picks up early and goes high, but moving left, it struggles to come around a corner too much. It makes it less versatile than I would like it to be, but it does carry pocket hits very well.
Traded my hustle off for this. The ball was a bit late to the cut so I took it to 1500 and it now has the perfect break point with a insane continuation through the pins
hey can you do a 100 shot review on the purple optimum idol, on a flat pattern it strikes a TON don't throw it on a house shot tho. btw i love all the 100 shot review's
I find that putting a weaker layout on my asym stuff is better on house shots. I don't drill them to roll strong unless I really am struggling to control the pocket. you can see your ball flare all the way to about 45 feet then it almost dead stops as its already rolling forward end over end, which I mean is how it should roll with that layout. Would probably be good for short patterns with a lot of oil... hook, roll, and then with so much lane left you will be in th pocket more often.
With ur style, unless is dried up in the middle, i dont think you should even play there, you just dont have enough to bring it back. To make it work simply move out, speed up, square up and strikealot
Biggest issue is the first angle in the layout. Taking an asymmetric ball and using a 20 degree drill angle eliminates a very very significant amount of the dynamic torque that an asymmetric core creates. If you left every other aspect of the layout the same and used 50 or 60 degrees as a first angle, you would have achieved closer to the shape you were looking for. The lower the drill angle number, the earlier the ball will roll, so effectively, your X-Cell is rolling nearly as soon as it hits the lane minimizing all downlane shape.
Ok, agree it's not looking good. Try this before you give up on it: put 3000 on it with a bit of shine. Not a high gloss but just a bit of to give it a buff to help it turn the corner. I have a ball that was having a similar problem and that is what turned it around from being an unusable dud to something I carry and use every week.
@@TheBowlingNerd that's just my go-to move on a few balls I have if I'm having the problem you are. Been doing it for years depending where I'm bowling. My OG idol has that and I still carry it in my bag and can use it on 3 day burn at a drier house, or all 3 games at a wet house. Regarding Etrax, that cover is weird, its advertised as not as strong as microtrax, but its deceptively stronger that it seems. I bought an overseas ball with the same Etrax cover and that ball came 1500 reacta gloss, so you could try that too. I just personally don't like reacta gloss, and prefer 3000 dull with just a tiny bit of a something less glossy like reacta shine buffed on it as that combo is versatile. So just play with the cover till you find something that matches up where you are.
This isn't really a surprise. Ball is way too strong for a house shot. How many high flaring asym solids really play well on THS? Can't imagine there's many.
I just saw a video from Phil at Radical that says that plugging a ball Does effect the overall numbers, but perhaps changing the layout might produce some different results, from what I understand the X-cell core is the same as the originals, but has AI.
I got an Arctic Vibe last week, threw it this weekend for the first time. So far Im not a fan. Visually its hard to read, and the shape seems just off to me. I can't understand why I dont love this ball. Hopefully next weekend will be a different story.
@@TheBowlingNerd it feels like its too light on the lane. I know that sounds silly but its not grabbing like I thought it would. When I get it out to the 7-5 board I thought it would recover strong, but it feels like its just hovering on the lane. My main two balls are Attention Star and an Effect. If I had to pin it down to something, it doesnt slide and snap or have a consistent arc. Its like its somewhere in between. Keep in mind, I didnt know balls had a break in period so its could easily be that I havent thrown it enough.
@@TheBowlingNerd so I used to bowl 20 years ago A LOT. I was good too. I broke my spine and essentially couldnt play until recently. Im about 6 months into returning to the game and Im loving it. There are so many things about the game that have changed or jsut didnt exist back when I played. Surfacing the ball is one of them. We used to put our balls in a machine that would shine them, but not the opposite. Is surfacing the ball something we do ourselves with pads we buy or is it something a pro shop would have to do?
Would be very interested in seeing how the v arctic vibe responds to surface changes! I got one, and loved it for about six or so games, now its becoming uncontrollable! I hit it with a worn out 3000 pad, but that didn't do much of anything. I'm a bit scared to put too much surface on it!
Yeah later on I tried 2000 and it kinda hits the breaks and goes sideways Didn’t get any footage of that since I liked the reaction out of the box But I can incorporate surface changes in future reviews
Too strong for the price point? Storm has sold less ball for more. Too much for "these" lanes is not say'n much. Check all the reviews. If the reviewer doesn't cast doubts about were it would fit in you bag, move on. I'm left-handed and for me, it plays better front to back than side to side. Don't let shelf appeal or the history of the Vibe line fool you. Do your home work.🤔
@@TheBowlingNerd I've heard many people say that this ball should've been classified as higher end compared to mid-level so I'm surprised he commented that.
I think it created too much angle in the backend for me. So 3rd arrow just gave me more room. The cover was seeing a ton of friction so I think it benefited from being in more oil and going across the house shot ratio.
@@TheBowlingNerd Actually, I was referring to the ball not hooking from 2nd arrow. I think it was during the 7 arrow segment. Maybe because you were trying to kill it and play down and in?
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qrAwM85V95I.htmlsi=Vl5pyOJU05SAG218 My video of my new hammer arctic vibe. Bowled a game 260 right out of the box.
hey, so what mark really told him to do? Is there something missing? I understand the points (he is late, crosstep is too big to the left double slide) but how can he actually correct this?
You crushed this. Love the vertical lane view and you talked through literally everything important to the ball motion. Watching you chase it with a couple of different balls adds that context that lets me know what this arctic is actually doing.
Dual angles First angle determines when the ball revs up, early / late Pin to pap controls flare potential 2nd angle determines how quick/low the transition is. Pin to PAP is the biggest factor in that equation. But… you’re 2 handed so you want to look into PAL or 2LS
