Any new thoughts since this has been available now for a while? I'm debating between upgrading an LTI between a Freelancer MAX, the Zeus CL or the Constellation Taurus.
The ZEUS mk 2 can only do 96 or 114 scu cargo in an efficient amount of time. The Taurus is better in every way. I know. I own the Zeus CL but I will most likely go to the Taurus in a few months.
I loved the Connie Andromeda but due to the main lift not working (items would drop thru when raising) and the snub never working, I decided to trade it in. No more pledge money from me. Only in-game spending for the near future.
This ship is the MVP of the verse. For somebody who has limited buying power, I absolutely recommand the Taurus : you want to do bounties? Done, it has 4 S5 weapons and packs a serious DPS plus 24 S2 missiles. You want to do hauling, trading? Done, its has 176 SCU of cargo and a life saving tractor beam. You want to do bunkers? It can take a URSA and/or a space bike to spare you from walking on foot. You want to do multicrew stuff? 4 beds and plenty of space, weapons racks. It has decent HP, S3 shield and a S3 turret. And most of all : its cheap to buy at the store compared to others.
I am still trying to get a refund for my donation for this game from 5 years ago that never gave me what I promised. They attempted to sue me after doing a chargeback. Fuck this game and its greedy fraudulent 'developers'. I hope one day they all end up in prison
Omg. I did all this and go to rent the andromeda and its not 70,960 aUEC anymore, its now 254,015 aUEC to rent for 1 day. Guess Ill find a different ship.
Still a handy guide, but it's remarkable how much has changed since you filmed this. I'm starting fresh with an Aurora MR and did a quick session last night that just confirmed how tough it is to do anything solo with an Aurora. I am going to try the route you used to get started. It was that very first bit getting to the first decent rental that was a real issue. The first couple bounties I got were just too deadly for the MR without any upgrades. I know, git good, but I'm not bad either. lol I think you had a better plan doing it near Yela.
Just started few days ago. Followed your tips and hit my first 100k from vlrt and lrt after so many dying, crashing, bug. Im about to rent andromeda now to hit that 1m. How long it takes for you to fill in all the cargo space?
This just doesn't work for me. I have a Logitech Brio 4K cam, and no matter what resolution and FPS I choose for the camera, even after calibration is True and tracking is True, when I get into the game nothing happens.
2 Size 4 missile racks, 2x S4 guns, 2x S3 guns (turret), 3x S2 shieldgen. Tractorbeam at the rear, 128SCU cargo capacity. Nice for hauling and trading, but with a Taurus you can run and loot ERT combat missions since it's 4x S5 guns will melt any large target within the current meta. I say: have both!
With new 3.24, since there's no more the local inventory accessed by pressin "i", now it puts the box of the helmet in my pg hands, so now i've to walk with this box whenever i want to take off my helmet inside stations
How much of the Taurus' cargo space is actually viable in today's game though. Especially now with 3.24 out, I'm finding a lot of ships with a specified cargo space, ESPECIALLY older ships, can't really USE the full space because they weren't laid out well for larger SCU containers. My Freelancer MAX for example can hold a lot less cargo than it says on the tin because it can't handle more than one 64scu container, and in order to use up all the space you need to be able to stack containers which you can't always do. My point is that when you use nothing but 1scu containers, sure you can fill every ship to its max. But when you are forced to use some combination of delivered containers that may or may not tetris in as planned, you lose space. The older ships suffer from this far more than the newer ones and for that reason alone my eyes are on this ship. I feel like with it being concepted in the more modern game it will probably be able to utilize a larger % of its rated space.
nowadays the character die any time random, the doors cant open, the stopped and turned off ship shaking undriveable near the spawn point after a bed-log out-log in... the loot system is crap, difficult, unuseable. So i wonder how were U able to make this video so easy.
I think the Zeus CL will have a similar problem to the Taurus - that being the awkward cargo grid with its 3-high layout. Especially with the new cargo missions, which often feature 32 SCU containers - any time you have to transport more than 32 SCU of a single item (per objective). You just can't fit more than two in a Taurus (well, on the grid anyway), and you likely won't be able to do so in the CL either. Not that they are the only ships with such a problem. I watched a buddy of mine try to do cargo missions in an MSR, and while he was able to load 3 32 SCU containers, it was a really tight fit and they definitely weren't on the grid. I imagine the Fatlancer would have a similar problem with a large part of its cargo hold being behind a small door. I learned my lesson, though it took me a long time, when I applied the Cutty Black->C1 CCU. I definitely won't apply the Zeus CL CCU until I've had a chance to thoroughly test it ingame. ...it sure does look good, though...
People are getting some of these ships and their size designation mixed up bad... The Taurus is an upgrade in every way to the CL. In fact, the CL is a little brother if you will. The C-1 is not comparable to the CL at all, it's more comparable to the Cutless-Black. The Freelancer MAX is comparable to the CL. So while we're all entitled to our preference for sure, It's a good idea that some of you realize that these ships aren't directly competing with each other. Please don't make the mistake of looking at the components of the CL and assuming it's the "better ship" because of it. All ships will get a change to their components eventually.
Taurus was one of my first ships and my daily for a long while, until i swapped to the corsair. Now i fly the c1 as my daily and while the zeus is tempting, i love the c1 and dont plan to swap
TWICE the space! though the C1 can move much faster. I'm waiting to see how the CLs tractor beam works and if it is any less of a PITA than the C1s that may seriously be the deciding factor for me.
connyt T is a really good ship BUT- struts blocking the sight is a huge drawback ... elevator acces is not for me, i prefer ramps and its just OLD. BUT its going to out damage the CL so much its not eeven funny :D so Conny is probably going to be a better ship
The Taurus was my second pledge, right after the Freelancer MAX - in a time when both ships weren´t even available yet and "only" their base versions, the Freelancer and the Constellation Andromeda, were offered as stand-ins to fly out of Port Olisar. Stopped playing after a short time, went back in after 2 years for a quick hop... and only returned in force earlier this year after another 4 years. Been adding and removing ships in my account, even had removed those first two from it... but by now they are both back and here to stay, especially with the upcoming cargo update. I foresee great use for the Constellation Taurus, with the central freight deck coming completely down and being easily loadable. Well armed, well shielded and a stylish classic look to boot, the Constellation series still offers some of the most versatile ships in the game, at least to me. In my book not even the excellent Corsair can replace the Constellations - and believe me, I´ve tried. It´s a close match between the Connies and the Corsair. The Corsair only wins out if your first concern is raw gunpower and, surprisingly, larger travel range. Everything else goes to the Connies.
Prediction. You'll get the CL, fly it for a bit and then feel silly for giving up the extra cargo / smuggling area / combat ability etc. Don't fall for new and shiney when it does so many things worse.
In terms of utility, the taurus is still best But i find it too big as a daily driver and for me, looks and the ability to feel "homy" in it is a big factor for me. Which is why I might be getting both 🤔 As the taurus might get a huge upgrade once it does fet it's gold pass
If I only had a Cutlass Black, or Freelancer, the Zeus would really appeal me. but if I had a Cat or Hercules, the Zeus would be redundant. I think EVERYBODY should have a Connie in their hangar. So I would not trade a Taurus for a Zeus, unless I had a Phoenix or Andromeda, and ALSO had a larger cargo ship. That Taurus is gonna make a big difference in earning if you don't have bigger. I am expecting 1.0 earnings vs costs to be WAY different than what we have seen in Alpha.
Hey mate, would love to have a copy of your icons if you don't mind. I just have the original deck, I've had it since before the others even came out. I use it every time I'm at my PC. <3 For sure setting up and configuring binds is a good bit of the fun. I wouldn't mind skipping some of the image work though :P already having enough fun with that on making a pretty mapping image for the hosas binds XD
