Right on man, thanks for the comment I will make a comprehensive video this weekend on how everything is setup for anyone who wants to do something similar I will address everyone’s questions. Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out. Thanks again!
Incredible build & very good video! I too own a Mad River Adventure 14 canoe as well and I wanted to add the same outrigger kit that you did. Could I ask you to share how you mounted the outrigger crossbar assembly to your canoe? If it is the same kit that is sold on Amazon, it comes with is a three-piece adjustable cross bar. As these canoes are made entirely of polyethylene the gunnel is not separated nor is it reinforced. I want to mount a trolling motor as well, but I am looking to build my own side mounting bracket for the Newport 46lbs motor that I already own. Did you first try a side mount for your trolling motor before you later designed and built your current (and amazing) motorized stern mount? Thank you :-)
Mad River adventure club! Lol This is indeed the outrigger kit from Amazon. I mounted it in a different way than intended. Using most of the existing hardware but redrilling some holes for stronger reinforcement. I chose to mount it at the point of the gunnel that is double walled around the brim. Then using the c Channel extrusion provided as a cross bar to stiffen the whole thing side to side. I plan to go down to the lake this weekend and can make a video for you to reference what I did. If that would help let me know. As far as trolling motor goes I did not try to mount it on the side first. I did intend to side mount it and even purchased a side mount kit from water snake as this is a water snake motor. After assembling it on the bench I hated the design. In my opinion from a physics standpoint there is a massive amount of efficiency loss using a side motor mount. Every point that the force has to make a transfer of direction to get to the hull and generate “push” is essentially wasted energy. This observation pretty much dissuaded me from side mount. Center mount in the rear is the most efficient design so I set out to work backwards from there to create the design for the folding transom. Also wanted the option to trim the motor while running for shallow water and just skim the top when needed. I can make more videos for you if you’d like to replicate parts of what I did just let me know what parts.
@@OnefiveRc Thank you for the quick, informative, and detailed reply! If you wouldn't mind taking and uploading another video, I would really appreciate seeing a close up video on your build, especially on the outriggers. I completely understand why you opted to create the stern motor mount. I often have regretted not buying the Adventure 16 version of our canoe as it was built for mounting a trolling motor on the stern. I will likely start with a side mount and take it from there. My initial thought was two fold. I intend to use my motor on other watercraft (for now), and I want to be able to easily take the motor and outriggers off when I want to paddle it as a regular canoe.
Thank you sir! The motor used for the steering is a 12v rs550 35000rpm motor designed for a children’s ride on car like the power wheels type. You have to modify the hub to accept your trolling motor shaft. I will make another video explaining more soon. Make sure to sub to check it out. Thanks again for the comment
This is running a 34cc zenoah engine built by esp. it’s got plenty of top end I just don’t have a place large enough to let it really stretch it’s legs
Hi there. You are the first result I get when searching for a carb rebuild kit how to. I wish you had more Baja videos but I guess you blew yours up and moved on. Anyway since I don’t have an ultrasonic cleaner i think I will use alcohol and an air compressor. What do you think?
I’m still very much in the hobby just wasn’t very good at making videos, it’s super time consuming lol I wouldn’t use alcohol- carb cleaner spray or brake clean is more suitable. If you can’t get those soak the carb in some diesel fuel and then clean the diesel with alcohol and air.
@@michaelinzitari if you’re not going to fully disassemble something with a pressurized sprayer is what you need to get into the crevices you need to get into. In my opinion unless you have a genuine walbro carb I would say just buy a new Amazon carb. A can of carb clean is like 10$ and a new amazon carb is like 20$ lol
@@OnefiveRc yeah I think I will just buy a clone carb for $20. My primer bulb is cracked, and I have no idea what condition the rest of the carb is in or what fuel was used. Easy decision
Great vid just had to have a look as I’ve never used an ultrasonic cleaner on these,if stuck in a pinch the k20-wat repair kit is just longer needle valve so diaphragms are same
Thanks for checking out my video! Ultrasonic cleaners work great for cleaning these smaller carbs, make sure to check out Pt. 2 of this video which is up now to see the actual cleaning portion of the rebuild. Great tip on the k20-wat kit I’ll definitely be keeping that in mind. 👍🏼
Great video, great quality, love the sound and background music. Very detailed explanation, very professional. I would recommend show casing the tools needed to do the job.
