Aussie here, Bill used to be on daily repeats in the afternoon. I have to remind myself everyone here are actor's playing characters not actual coppers filming a documentary. So perfectly done. 👌
I can remember watching this when it aired ! Loved it ever since !..Still can’t get used to it, though,…the sight of coppers in the UK, Ireland, NZ, wandering about unarmed. It’s just gobsmacking.
So Frank Burnside was originally called Tommy Burnside. I have to agree, Frank suits the character better than Tommy. It was funny seeing Burnside grovelling or eating humble pie as he put it.
lol have seen this before. young mark wingett sounds like hes been sucking helium. the bill was something both aussie and pom kids my age grew up with my whole family loved it, mum hated carver from day one to day..... however many there was!
Frank Burnside's long lost identical twin brother Tommy🤣🤣🤣Definitely not Frank Burnside, no way he would beg like the way he did to Galloway over his snout.
That's how people spoke back then when communities were closer. Yep, in those days, 'community' meant the people in your local area not some silly reference to a specific demographic or group within a population. Even if my sexuality, ethnicity, religion or whatever is something in common with someone else, they are not part of my community unless I know them or know of them specifically and live local to me.
I think the makers of the bill had to change Tommy to Frank Burnside as there was someone at the Met called Tommy Burnside. In the late 80s Christopher Ellison and his CID colleagues were funny as hell off set whenever we saw them on location in NW London.
How times change - smoking inside, empty the ashtrays. At its peak - it was easily the best show on television. Brilliant. Gritty. Real. Thought provoking. Including avery young Jim and equally young June plus Taffy.
Used to love watching the bill with my dad when i was a kid. Never seen these early episodes though so this is an absolute joy i found these. Loads of late nights incoming 😅😅
I live in Australia, started watching the Bill in 1993. Never missed an episode up to the last one in 2010. I also have all the books. Thank you for putting this these episodes on RU-vid. I now can catch up on them.
I've never seen this show before. But I love the serious, precise tone of the screenplay as portrayed by the actors and seen on their faces, as well as the documentary style cinematography and the absence of music.
Bruce'Devil'Payne always had bad guy roles. First time sw him was in Full Eclipse a 90s Movie with Mario Van Peebles and Patsy Kensit and For Queen and Coutnry with Denzel (1988)
