I just got on MK II delivered. Seeing as it's still in the return window, should I send it back and fork out extra for a Gen 3? Or is it really worth the cost difference?
@@TheGuitarGeek Sorry, the MK II is currently €355 on Thomann, whereas the Gen 3 is over €500. Big difference! Though it might be closer to €450 on other websites.
A 'quite hot plexi', is the variac turned up and thus more poweramp distortion? (Or is the variac dial backwards, could also be a thing. Looked it up, down is more compressed, noon is 'normal operation', higher is more headroom). I have been doubting this pedal for quite some time, wanted something of a 'modded plexi' kind of thing... and the moment you turned it on was _another_ moment I instantly but it into my shopping cart. Might as well bite the bullet this time. It's one of those pedals that's hard to dial in because it handles very marshally. They seem to really 'emulate' the two gains and the powerstack controls. The diff between 19 and 22 is also more a 'saturation' switch. More of a cascaded gain stage vs the older gain stage. The boost also not being a 'dumb boost' but more mid-focused means it's actually nice. (EDIT: Get a room!)
I had recently purchased the Boss Cube LX. But after seeing your video on this, and finding out that Blackstar makes a lithium battery powerpack, it's become a no brainer (for me ) to switch. I'll be able to play anywhere and have 30 more watts of available umph. Thx.
The Fender Japan Cyclone has a 42mm nut, which makes it one of the only ways to get that scale length and nut width with a flat neck pitch (i.e. neck angle). I would go for one, were it not dangerously close to the cost of a Warmoth body and neck to achieve those specs with a different body shape. I should mention that the Chapman Guitars Pegasus also meets this spec, albeit with a hardtail, and it costs US$1,500 (which put me right off it).
Hey I went to that same BOSS Roland store when I went to London this past fall!! I met Matt on his second day working there (at least I’m pretty sure it was Matt) ^^
As far as I know, all Cyclones are 24.75 scale. I love my Squier Cyclone. If I could make a signature model it would be a Cyclone with a jazzmaster bridge pickup, jaguar neck pickup.
Fender Japan doesn't get "all" the cool stuff. We got the American Professional II thinlines, for instance. Anyways, I love that Fender releases guitars in the Gibson scale length, and sometimes that flat 12" radius. But when is Gibson going to reach out with a 25.5", alder body, 9.5" radius, single coil SG?? Make an inline, durable headstock, you cowards!
nice to find a good honest person..and if there stuff is no good they shouldnt be trying to make you sell there rubbish goods to honest folk..well done..
Look at you being famous in London! Also, I'll be visiting, so might show up at that store very soon! Muahaha this was quite an entertaining episode! Thank you Andy!
I get a kick out of this first off you aren’t a collaborator with said company … you are a reviewer of their product.. for good or bad . I think your reviews of guitars and gear are very respectful and honest . If someone is threatening you to force the narrative of a review .. then that is a major red flag 🚩.. in my opinion .. Love your reviews … 👍🎸
Japanese quality is still the best, own 2 japan made fender strats and more recently an Ibanez japan made rg550 genesis like your yellow you reviewed a while back. The rg fit and finish beautiful.
Never buying another new guitar that doesn't have stainless steel frets...!!!😉👍 I refuse to spend anymore money on fretwork...!!!😁 Hope all manufacturers of guitars are listening...!!!🤞🤞
Still have my peavey t-max bass head. 500 watts and tube preamp. The thing is amazing. Maybe a remake of it in a small compact version with the tube channel...
The clock change for digital samples simply makes samples play back at a higher or lower speed (timestretch, if you will). It goes well with the bitcrushing effects as when you get a sample and REALLY stretch out the time you really start to notice the granularity of it and thus sounds really lo-fi.
@TheGuitarGeek they have a parallel dimension Squier, but it's S-S-S. But I guess that's the point. I've seen Brian Molko playing some original Cyclones live. Would be cool to seen a signature model for Brian. Placebo are definitely big enough to justify it
MIJ is the best you can get price-wise, it's significantly cheaper then US, and just slight above Mexico. With a better quality than both. Save up a bit, you you'll be satisfied.

Thanks Fred! I started playing bass in 1979. I bought a TKO, then added a TNT, then added a Mark IV Bass head with 2x15 enclosure and a T40 bass. I played for local dance/jazz bands around Cedar Rapids, Iowa area in the early 80's, then got away from playing. In the last year I'm getting back into playing (bass, guitar (electric and acoustic), banjo, fiddle). I just got a good deal on eBay for a 1991 Rage 108 and am awaiting delivery. I do plan on buying a new Peavey bass amp. I really want Peavey to stick around and succeed. 👍👍👍
