You don’t see them doing this in the wild. Captivity turns apex predators into helpless beggars🙁, sentient beings into circus clowns😢, free spirits into depressed prisoners.....😭 all for human greed 💰 and gratification. Please help us to be their voice. We must end this cruelty‼️ #CaptivityIsCruel #CaptivityKills #DontBuyATicket #orcas #EmptyTheTanks
CULTURE PEOPLE, Who can tell why sea world decided to get orcas for their shows back then in the 60's instead of other ocean creatures. It's an interesting topic because thanks to it orcas have become very famous.
Okay. I just needed to read a few comments. I work with an ignorant, arrogant, whiny kid that is constantly running his mouth about things he knows nothing about. But I was off work today. It's okay though. I knew I would find plenty of comments by whiny, ignorant, arrogant people just like him right here.
Disgusting. Glad society has changed for the better in some regards at least. This whole audience perceived wild animals completely differently than most of us do these days.
It's sad to read all of the negative comments below; these are some of the most well cared for and happiest animals in the world. They are extremely well fed and receive state of the art medical care, and their life expectancy is roughly double what it would be in the wild. If they were released, as some people suggest they should be, they would likely starve, since they do not know how to hunt. Let's just enjoy watching them.
Used to grow up with seaworld, I highly suggest looking into seaworld’s history of orcas. Seaworld’s track record of orcas usually has them dying at around their 20’s or 30’s, compared to orcas in the wild living up to 100. Unusual rates of miscarriages are found too, and the amount of aggression seen in captive whales vs wild whales is staggeringly different Seaworld is a for-profit company, not a non-profit zoo. That means, as a company, their biggest priority is money and not the animals. They want to create the illusion the animals are happy. A lot of the trainers do genuinely care about them, yes, but the company does not. I’d recommend looking into Blackfish (2013) and The Cove (2009) they are both free on youtube and it’ll give you more insight into how sketchy seaworld honestly is
