Sad seeing such amazing, intelligent creatures in captivity doing tricks for the greed of mankind and so many people enjoy watching it. They belong in the wild..
All the whales except maybe one were born in captivity they would not survive in the wild. They don’t know how to hunt. We learn a lot studying animals. It’s not about greed. The ticket money barely covers the cost. All their moves are things seen in the wild. They are just taught to do it on cue.
For those wondering where the name Shamu comes from - Shamu was a young Southern Resident and member of the J pod. Her mother was harpooned and killed in front of her. The traumatized young orca was sold to SeaWorld San Diego in 1965. She became the first superstar of SeaWorld. She died of a uterus infection in 1975. Only 5 out of 166 orcas taken into captivity in North America are still alive - Corky, Lolita, Ulises, Katina, and Kiska. Corky is the oldest orca in captivity. She is from the Northern Resident orca community. She was captured in 1969 in Pender Harbour, British Columbia. She is a member of the A5 pod, A23 matriline. Her mother, A23 Stripe, died in 2000, but she still has relatives in the wild - sister Ripple, brother Fife, niece Midsummer, great-nephews Fern and Ne'nakw, and great-niece Eliot. Lolita was captured in 1970 in Puget Sound, Washington. She is from the L pod of the Southern Resident orca community. Her mother is L25 Ocean Sun (estimated to be 95 years old). Lolita lives in the smallest orca tank in the world. Ulises, Katina and Kiska were captured in Iceland. SeaWorld has eighteen orcas in its collection. Three were caught in the wild - Corky, Ulises and Katina. Fifteen were born in captivity. Lolita lives at the Miami Seaquarium and Kiska lives at Marineland Ontario. Orca captures were banned in North America in the mid-70s. Iceland banned captures in the 90s.
@@anniesimborios3751 hello gorgeous looking lady, you’re looking so sultry on your beautiful profile pic, honestly I just can’t stop looking at you 😊🎉💐🌹
I don't know why I feel like crying watching this 🥺🥺 They're entertaining people 🥺❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ They're almost like human. They understand everything 😭😭 But I just hope they are freed to where they belong (The ocean) ❤️ This is the most saddest and the happiest thing I've watched so far❤️
Most people like to follow the hate bandwagon and forget that Orcas are cruel animals who for fun, just like humans. Penguins, turtles, dolphins are their favourite targets. This orca would have killed hundreds of other animals in the wild
11 years later finally this Pandemic taught us how suffocating it is to be locked in a certain space. These innocent creatures are the live example to throw limelight on how lockdown actually feels like.
They're rescued animals who would have perished otherwise. You libtards fucking amaze me, though your overlords do have you trained better than the whales. Idiot.
Unfortunately, the pandemic has caused us to feel their pain. The whales should have been allowed to roam free, not be contained! Vote for Trump so the same thing doesn't happen to us by the Democrats!
I watched Shamu at San Diego in 1993 when I was a scholar at California State University State Univ.San Bernardino.Happy to see it again on my phone after so many years.Sorry to see t hem in bondage too.
I saw this same exact sort of show at Seaworld in the 90's as a little kid and felt bad about it even then. These are smart, majestic creatures who deserve to roam this planet the same as us. Capturing them, putting them in captivity, training them to perform for food, it's just so wrong and gross on one's soul.
You see If you were in jail or locked in a cell How will you feel? You feel freedom or happy right? That's exactly where the whales belong free in the ocean

PROACTIVE ACCOMPLISHER the tanks are big in size well the showpool they let them have access to the showpool i think the backstage pools also they save animals look up on yt
Gacha Suzu there pool is 1/30 of the size of there parking lot . It seem they care more about people having enough parking space then there orcas having enough space to swim around
Estos espectáculos deberían de estar prohibidos. Les recomiendo que vean Black fish un documental escalofriante que muestra claramente el negocio que hay con estos seres vivos
So, imagine yourself as animal? Feel free to downgrade yourself but humans are humans and will utilize animals in the way they see fit as long as we're on top of the food chain, been happening along history and will continue. Why humanize animals? Too much cartoons I'm guessing, humanizing animals and over-connecting with nature is a trend these days.
i mean..it is incredible what can be done to tame something big like these - thinking about the most optimal scenarios.. (what would that be like) could they be set free and then rejoin a year later, maybe? could you have veterinarians periodically check their health and “skeletal” strength > well, I just slightly remember writing this comment..
I remember as a kid watching this show and thinking wow, what a magical sight. What the trainers got these Killer Whales to do was incredible & mesmerising. Now as an adult, and after watching Blackfish, it saddens me....
There's a big difference. Dogs were domesticated by humans more than 30,000 years ago. Cats were domesticated 10,000 years ago. Orcas aren't pets, they're apex predators. They're used to swimming over 100 miles per day. They dive 500 to 800 feet. The biggest tank at SeaWorld is 36 feet deep.
@@MermaidMusings7 it doesn't matter if it was 10 or 30,000 years ago. It's still an animal being held against it's will. My neighbor keeps their dog tied all day to the fence, what the difference between that dog and shamu? That 36 feet deep pool is no different than that 5 foot rope that dog has around its neck. Dogs hunt in packs and also kill? there's no difference between them and orcas when it comes to being apex predators besides being on land or sea?????? dogs descended from wolves, which are still wild and people decided to mess with their dna and force breed them. There is literally nothing you can say to justify any of this or people owning a pet. ITS ALL THE SAME!!!
Anyone ever hear of Tilikum the killer whale? In the documentary Blackfish, it's admitted that as a training method, they'd deprive him of food, and punish him for not completing tricks for entertainment. They also paired him up with a very heavily trained whale, and whenever he didnt accomplish the same tricks the other whale did, they'd both get no food for the night. As a result, Tilikum was 'raked' by the other whale. In the morning, the trainers would see that Tilikum was covered in scars and cuts, and he was still performing. He was then on the breaking point. He worked at Sealand, in Canada. He killed a part time trainer, and this person was Keltie Byrne. They were a champion swimmer, as well. He also was at one point shipped to a SeaWorld. There was more reported incidents I'm forgetting, but a very special one happened at SeaWorld. A very professional, very trained, and very emotionally connected person to the whales was sitting with Tilikum, when Tilikum grabbed their ponytail and pulled them down into the tank, and eventually, the whale got their arm and they ended up dying. That was Dawn, the trainer. Basically, Stop capturing whales and hurting them for entertainment and cash. Edit: Also, it's literally been proven that killer whales are so smart that they have a part of their brains that process emotions and stuff, so SeaWorld and SeaLand abused the one animal that actually can process emotions like *anger.*
I also reqst everyone to stand for these beautiful creatures who born to stay freely in the vast ocean.. People should stop going to these shows.. If they don't. These people will bound to stop the show n leave the whales... I love them alot.. Please God help these creatures. They can't speak that doesn't mean humans will use them as a toy.. Plz guys stop hurting them STOP KEEPING THEM IN CAPTIVE.
Poor whale... Maybe 12yrs ago not many people had a high education background. But now i can see a lot of people hate this kind of show. If we give our support to them, they will never stop.
So you're saying people with a lower eductation background see no problem with this shit? Goddamn Liyana. This has nothing to do with an education background dumbass.
@@EpooNuttujib floppy dorsal fin means it's not swimming as much as it's evolutionary engineered. They swim hundreds of miles in a straight line in the wild, conditioning the muscle and keeping the dorsal fin erect. The dorsal fin has no bones or other biological structure. The collapsed dorsal fin shows that these orcas are not swimming long distances and in circles. I live in an area where we have MANY wild orcas. I'm fascinated by them and have learned about them for years.
read the comments you are just embarrassing yourself, your not doing anything about it so just Stfu because you don't do anything about it meaning you're opinion does not matter
Kalina's story breaks my heart. Not only was she separated from her mother, all four of her calves were taken from her. When her fourth calf, Skyla, was moved to another pool and lifted out by a stretcher, Kalina began to ram violently into the gate that separated them. She ended up with severe lacerations on her face. She never saw her daughter again and died within a few short years. They forced her to breed at only six years old. In the wild, orcas typically start calving between thirteen to fourteen years of age. Having a calf at eight years old is unheard of in whale society - at least in the wild. Kalina isn't the only orca to have been bred too young. Takara was torn from her mother, hauled across the country three times to different SeaWorld parks, treated like a breeding mare and separated from two of her calves. Kohana (Tilikum and Takara's daughter), Skyla (Tilikum and Kalina's daughter), Tekoa (Tilikum and Taima's son) and Keto (Kalina's son and the orca who killed Alexis Martinez) were torn away from their mothers at young ages and shipped off to Spain. Kohana rejected both of her calves, Skyla is dead, Keto has serious anger issues, Tekoa and Morgan are frequently harassed by the other orcas. Corky and Lolita have been in captivity for over half a century. Lolita is from the Puget Sound Southern Resident orca population, which was decimated by captures in the sixties and seventies. They are now listed as critically endangered. Her mother, Ocean Sun, is estimated to be between eighty and ninety years old. They will probably never be reunited. Corky is a Northern Resident and member of the A-23 pod. Her sister, brother, niece and grand-nephews can still be seen roaming the coastal waters of British Columbia. What different lives they must lead.
How would you feel to be ripped away from your family. How horrible. I have been to sea world 2x and vowed to not go again after seeing Blackfish. I love animals , it is so sad to hear these Mother's crying for their babies
If you have not seen it yet download or watch the documentary blackfish, it shows you wht these fantastic creatures have that bent over fin, tragic and we all need to stop this torture
And it is also absolute bullshit, with the SeaWorld employees in it all saying that they redacted what they said in that mockumentary. Everything was taken out of context and even with the people in it saying blackfish is a lying sack of shit, people still jump on board. I don't know what torture you mean either, they are fed daily meals and they get snacks for doing tricks, just like what people do with dogs and cats, so are we torturing our canine and feline friends when we give them treats for doing some tricks? The answer is no, no one but PETA thinks that way, and until you have worked in a zoo or aquarium, you really can't say what is going on behind the scenes, and as I have volunteered at my local zoo and aquarium the last 3 summers and am doing so again to make it 4 times, I can say outright that the animals are treated better than most of the staff, and they have an amazing healthcare plan too. If an employee or volunteer is seen teasing an animal with food or abusing them, they are released immediately and the volunteers are not allowed back to help out, and the employees have an insanely hard time finding another zoo that would hire them, because that teasing/abusing of an animal follows them everywhere. Also, SeaWorld saves thousands of animals per year thanks to these captive born animals (all the show animals are captive born i.e. they can't be released as they have no survival skills), as SeaWorld puts most of it's profits into the rescue./rehabilitation programs. To give you a perspective of how many animals are saved thanks to these show animals, I'll give you this little bit of info; PETA kills more cats and dogs a year than SeaWorld saves, and SeaWorld saves up to 22,000 animals per year, not all years are that high, but that is a rough average of what I've been able to find. So yeah the organization that is dedicated to getting animals the rights they deserve kill more animals than SeaWorld saves per year. Apparently one of the rights animals deserve is being killed because PETA doesn't have enough room to hold them. PETA is basically a kill shelter for animals of all shapes and sizes.
JackWilspin Pretty sure I just responded to you, but in case I'm wrong I'll repeat. SeaWorld has no reason to sue after all the employees said it wasn't true and was taken out of context. Also with many considering it to be a mockumentary, it can't be taken to court, as mockumentaries are satire, which isn't something that the courts will deal with.
It’s not sick… you have no idea how they are treated. Many of them were injured or born in captivity, unable to survive in the wild. You don’t, they could be very happy being fed every day and played with everyday

@@colbstar7389 No they're not. 😓 A predator this size can survive in the wild. Catching food for themselves in the ocean is just about the easiest thing they can do.
People tend to ride off these creatures over rare incidents that actually occured due to abusing it. But watching this, I can see why people love them so much. They look like social animal's that enjoy spending time with people, just from what I can see here. Watching 'Free Willy' growing up too, the thing is that even in the wild, these creatures have saved people many times & possess incredible intelligence. More money should be put into stopping the way they are trained in awful ways, understanding them & instead focus on making them comfortable & happy with better training techniques. The water too, I can't imagine that all the chemical's would be that healthy for them & think fresh sea water would be more ideal.
It's sad to see these majestic beasts in captivity just for our amusement, but at the same time, it's just incredible to see this kind of control humans can have on these animals. And watching them interact gracefully with humans is just unreal.
It's not incredible that humans have control. They basically have no choice! A human would have control over you if they controlled your food source too. It's nothing but manipulation through psychological torture and I'm glad those fuck faces died. Animals should be free.
This pisses me off. thinking about these beautiful animals being held prisoner they aren't meant to be doing fucking stupid tricks for stupid humans. how would you like it if you were trapped behind concrete walls all your life and doing the same shitty tricks every day. they are all depressed!
I feel the same way. It actually brought tears to my eyes. those poor whales stuck in a small pool when they should be in the ocean, their home where they have miles and miles of space in every direction. I hate humans for how they mistreat animals.
Yeah dude I agree with you but unfortunately if this beautiful animal released in the wild ocean I'm pretty sure you're grandchildren will see them in Google
Это видио говорит о том что самое страшное животное на земле это человек , даже большие касатки умные и добрые которые радуют, а все беды все разрухи на земле все и за человека и его жажды до власти денег и ресурсов ....всем всего мало ....
Not the whole earth is like this! Out of nearly 8 billion humans, there are maybe 10.000 that would release and respect animals! I'm one of them. I only eat 2 horses, 5 cows, 6 Chicken, 9 swine(s?), 11 cats, 1 leopard, 18 fish and only 2 elephants in a year! I'm Jesus in Person, i can't understand this cruelty!🙄
Este video muestra perfectamente como un animal ha sido maltratado durante toda una vida, para que gente de tu índole aplauda creyéndose que esta viendo un espectáculo. Saludos

I hope these sea world entertainments no longer exist, they should be banned, it's painful to watch those whales, you should understand animals have feelings too😭 they need freedom❤️
The whales have bonded such a great relationship with the trainers, you really know nothing lol, they're treated with care, not hate. Change your dumbass view please
@Lazy Murfy Thank you Bro, these animal activists know nothing, but just the picture and video they're given. I'm a veterinary science major and love animals, and believe this is a good way of life
This is so sad it makes me cry. As Joan Jett said, the music they play even gives these creatures psychological problems as it messes with their sensitive sonar capabilities.
