We have an early 2018 Model 3 Long Range RWD with about 80k miles on it. We went through the first set of tires at about 30k miles with rotations. The second set were Michelin Primacy MXM4 and those have about 50k miles on them. I will be replacing those in the coming weeks before fall sets in with either Michelin Defender2 or CrossClimate2. Those two have even more expected ware at 80k and 60k respectfully. We also had the control arms replaced for squeaking but not under warranty (out of warranty period). They charged only a few hundred dollars for the repair. We also had to have the 12V battery replaced at about 5 years of use. The charging port door was replaced under warranty at about 4 years old. Tesla service has always been great when I have had to work with them. I have had a Model X performance and Model S a few times as a loaner. I have yet to have a Model 3 or Y as a loaner.
140k miles in my 13 year old chevy volt. it has the super old NMC pouch cell batteries like cell phones. my range has ironically increased about 31% on the original battery compared to epa estimate brand new lol. the car doesnt let you supercharge and limits motor power to 100kw, and keeps an extra 60% of the battery as a buffer. these batteries routinely last 400-500k miles now. lfp is not the only solution. they need better thermal management and should be more restrictive on the charge curve. dont buy an ev if you cant plug in at home yo.
Josh, I have the same vehicle, knock on wood! I have not have no issue! I am second wonder and I have not super charge the car since I own it. Current mile 96K miles.
Subbed , which home charger do you have now since you’ve moved ? Saving up for my model 3 as we speak really forward to FSD. Had a model s rental loved it , it’s my next car certainly. Love your content !
should I get a 2022 Tesla model 3 long range used with 118k miles? For $16k and I live in an apartment complex, so I would use fast charging unless I go to my dad’s house and charge it there. I live in Tennessee, and is fast charging bad for the battery
I’m supposed to get my model 3 back later today. Been driving a performance model y for 2 weeks. Gotta say I love the Y. Hope my battery lasts a long time.
You DO NOT receive a brand new battery when your old battery dies! It is remanufactured! That means they replace the bad battery cells with new ones, and the old battery cells that are still good get reused. It is refurbished, NOT NEW!
Just received the battery death message on my screen after 3 years and 60K miles. I have a Model 3 Performance and mostly charge at home. Unfortunately, my service appointment is not for a week and a half. I will have to get a rental car until the service appointment. 😪
So far the battery they replaced mine with has been working good with 10K km now on it. Going to update the channel in a few weeks and talk about the changes and differences. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the video. One piece of feedback, if you remove the words "like" and "actually" from your video dialog, you will reduce your video length, increase your viewer retention and earn a Thumbs up from me.
I have a 2018 MidRange model 3. Literally, getting a battery replaced later this week, its been in the shop for 5 days already. The good news, it came with a loaner and the battery is covered under warranty. I really love my model 3 so I’m hoping the new battery works well and lasts at least another 100k miles. The warranty remains the same so once the new battery is out…prolly not worth getting it replaced.
@@JoshTryhaneTech nice to hear yours is working out. Apparently Tesla has been replacing batteries with newer LFP battery. But it doesnt apply to mid range vehicle like mine…I just heard back after inquiring. Still optimistic it will last a long time
I have the same exact Tesla, just in blue and with a white interior, but I do have to say with tire rotations on a regular scheduled basis I have only had to buy new tires once, since I was not so heavy on the accelerator all the time. Otherwise I only switched out the air filters and windshield wipers myself once. So overall not that much maintenance and did have to replace both control arms but was out of my warranty when that happened, but still only set me back 217 dollars and change out of pocket since it came as a set.
They didn’t give me an explanation as to why the battery went out! When the “schedule your car for a service appointment” message popped up, I brought my car in and they told me they had ordered a new battery right away.
@@JoshTryhaneTech@brianbishop2235 did ya’ll not have a range increase with newer batteries? I assume the range would increase due to technological improvements
@geraldjosephdonttrip1370 no increase in miles its a warranty job so not expected, my range is stable at about 294mls, car is fine and it was a refurbished battery.
Yeah pretty unfortunate to have it die in 5 years TBH… I spoke with a Tesla rep yesterday and he mentioned that battery replacement costs have actually dropped by 50%… not sure if I believe that fully, but he said it’s around $7500 for a replacement on the older models. Definitely worth looking into. Thanks for the comment Tony!
@@JoshTryhaneTech thats bad having to have battery replaced in less than 5 years my 2014 honda crv runs like a dream with 154,000 miles on it and i've driven the same model/trim/year honda crv with only like 70,000 miles mine runs exact same which was someone elses.
I love the stalkless design. It's futuristic. First time I test drove it I kept looking for stalks. After test driving the car 5 times now I don't even look for stalks anymore. I fell in love with the car. Ordered the M3 LR stealth grey black interior. Typical Tesla it got pushed back 😢 now April 3 - May 8. I feel like a kid at Christmas , I just want my present mom !!! 😂
I totally agree! Stalkless has been a cool step forward😄 Congrats on the M3LR! It’s the worst when the delivery dates get moved back haha… I remember mine was pushed back by a few months and it felt like forever😂
Just watched your video where you took delivery of your Model 3. That sales guy was great and really knew what he was talking about. Thanks for the videos. PS. I just used your referral code and ordered a new Model X!
Happy to see your upload. So wonderful that Tesla is making changes to the Model 3. It was starting to feel a bit old and out dated... glad to see these improvements. Did you notice the regenerative braking being any different? I heard they took out the option now to change the regen modes?
Thanks Jordan! Yeah the updates are amazing. The quality of the car feels way better compared to the old models. All around styling has gone up a lot! Do you currently have a model 3 as well?
I'd say one of the hardest things to get used to is the turn signals being located on the steering wheel. When I got my model S it took a few days. Thank you for the review, this might be the next Tesla we add to the family.
JOSH - Fake News , the model 3 12v LEAD ACID was REALLED years ago and they Recommended to swap out the LEGACY batter w/ a MODERN 15.5 V LITHIUM , which ALL TESLA now ship with.
Some advice to make your rear tires last longer you can Rotate your tires Telsa reccomends several 6500 miles or 10,000km :)) should help you from burning rear tires fast also idk if this has happend to anyone im not sure which update it was but my left repeater camera has a purple-ish hue the right seems fine even in the sun
Yes of course! Thanks so much for the comment🙂 that’s interesting about your camera too! Has the colour fixed itself with updates or is it still purple-ish? I’ve noticed every few months I have to completely reboot my screen due to the map freezing!
@JoshTryhaneTech it has gotten better with one update but the latest one it went back to being purple again I'll keep you updated, it doesn't really bother me but when I go to get it serviced I'll bring that up to them. I imagine it being a software thing because it started during that (improve camera quality/vision) update specifically 🤔
Also have a 2019 SR+. One repair we had that you haven't is the security module. It prevented us from driving until the part could be replaced by mobile service.
