After a long career in the NHS as a nurse Lisa Brown, fell into property investing and realised there was a real need for supported living properties.
Lisa is the founder of The Supported Living Property Network, a community of property investors and providers working together to create more supported living homes. Lisa is passionate about investing in supported living property; developing properties to create homes for those in society who need them most.
Lisa began interviewing people in her Facebook group which are published on here as the "Lisa Live" series of interviews with people who are involved in Supported Living Property Investing is one playlist. This then became the Supported Living Property Podcast which is available on your usual podcast app and interviews are available here on RU-vid too.

Thanks Lisa for this video, you pointed me towards it and I found it very useful. I intend to make contact with Guy later in the year so when I purchase my first rental it I can ensure it's universally accessible.
Great video, I'm so glad I found your channel. Definitely something I intend to invest in when I get started next year. I'm also interested in properties for people with disabilities because there seems a dearth of suitable housing; have you any content on this?
Thank you. Best of luck with your plans. You might like to watch the episode with Guy Harris if you want to explore developing properties for people with disabilities.
Thank you ladies, I really enjoyed this episode. Jackie has definitely just turned a few cogs in my brain regarding how to supply social housing and the importance of relationship building with housing associations. Thanks 🙂
*no longer wants to renew the lease and we have to revert to the private market? As this could be tricky where the property is in an undesirable area for the private market.
It all depends very often they will renew but there are no guarantees. I will always encourage you to have alternative exits in case a provider changes their mind.
Hi, Lisa and Anthony. Thanks for the great podcast and informative content. I greatly appreciate Anthony's contact details. He seems very friendly and helpful as a professional.
This is amazing, I am new to this and researching with a view to starting my own Support Living Accommodation along with my friend. Please can I contact you for further information?
The best podcast so far. The details and knowledge shared by Anthony was fantastic. I will definitely contact him for more support and information as a new provider.
Providing high quality accommodation costs money and needs to be run as a business to be able to meet the demand. There are lots of people doing this badly making lots of profit on poor quality housing. I am promoting fair profit on high quality housing. In an ideal world there would be enough social housing but there just us not enough at the moment.
Lisa great episode. QUESTION: what wording should a provider make sure is written in the contract with landlords (as there is an element of subletting involved)?
Iv been living in supported accommodation for just over two years now and iv moved about 4 times because of no support and no help at all. Before we sign the paperwork we are told that we will get support we will get food vouchers and we will be helped with going on a course but after signing the agreement we only see a so called support worker once a week and he only wants you to sign the paperwork so he can show that he supports us then we get to see him every 4th week so we can pay them the service charge most places charge 70 pounds a month for nothing . Many of the houses are dirty filthy and there are no cleaners but we get told a cleaner comes once a week and cleans the communal areas. But we clean the place ourselves. There are very good places aswell but you have to find them somehow and its not that easy because the amount of fake places are everywhere. We can not even complain to anyone because there is noone, i complained to the council but they came out and sent me a email saying the place is run very professionally. If you suffer from mental health problems then these places are the worst places to go to you will only get more stressed out. It would be good to be able to get a one bedroom flat im 49 years old suffer from mental health and been here does not help but its not easy to get a place you can start to call home. I hope something will be done about this these ppl are abusing the system and raking in thousands of pounds a week
Thanks for your comment and I am so sorry you have had this experience. As you say there are some great places and some are not good. If I can help at all drop me an email hello@lisabrown.uk
First time looking into this type of property industry, I learned a lot from this video as it's explained in much detail. Taking notes as I got along too! Find it fascinating how it all works.
Great vid. Thank you. Can a commercial building be used. Or has to be changed in class type first. It used to be a house but used as office for the last 30 years
Thanks for your comment. It all depends on the current use class and the tenant type that will be in the property. Feel free to look at my website for more information and you can book a consultancy call here if you want to discuss things in more detail: lisabrown.uk/consultancy-call/
Are you a property investor looking to lease your property to a provider? If so have a look at what we do here: lisabrown.uk/supported-living-property-network/
Are you referring to my short video on due diligence? If so that was simply explaining the importance of doing due diligence. If you want to learn how to do it you are welcome to join my training. Please email me hello@lisabrown.uk
Lisa This private landlord space for social housing is interesting and the social housing model has becoming popular with Chinese investment. The main driver is really profit over purpose but I agree with building better product, as in co-living which creates a better environment and experience that delivers likeminded tenants. This creates fewer void periods and is good for the landlord. If Toby could share more of his vision and passion for private landlords in this space, it would be of interest.
Feel free to get in touch with Toby directly if you want to continue the conversation. There are plenty of people entering this space just for profit but my main driver is purpose and helping people understand how to do it better while still making profit.
It depends on many variables like location and size of property. Why don’t you have a look at the resources on my website and if that doesn’t help drop me an email hello@lisabrown.uk
