My great-grandpa technically served, but he never saw combat. I think he enlisted or got drafted in 1936 or maybe 1943. Even though he didn’t serve in combat, I just know he served and wanted to help.
My great grandfather served in the pacific. He was with the 77th infantry, 307th infantry regiment, A company. He was nearly killed twice, once was on Okinawa. By the time he got out in December of 1945, he was a S/Sgt, and was awarded the bronze star with his CIB.
Thank you to these brave men and the USA for freeing my country. This was not your war. Not your continent. Not your cities. But still you went there to bring peace. Not because it was your country. Because it was right. This is what America is about. God bless America 🇺🇸
