Hey buddy nice video- just a small creature comfort to wash hands and if your in the surf or mud with waders to wash off afterwards “Reliance Products Flow Pro Pressurized Portable Showever, 2 Gallon” fill with hot water and it lasts for a few minutes worth of wash down- again thanks for publishing this - good info!
nik marshall Oh yes you can drive all the way down to the inlet as long as you have a 4 x 4 If you don’t you can walk it but you’re gonna have a nice long walk. Another way you can get down there is if you can hitch a ride with someone on the back of the truck lotta people or do that some people do it out of generosity for free or you can slip the driver about five or 10 bucks for the gas and you can hitch a ride up and or back
Hey okay reel as long they not soaked under water. And not open up to service ur self. Wich i dont Recommend at all doing And yes there has been issues with the VR series with the entire reverse I had a couple buddies told me that it would just give out on you after your ear or fishing or I would just give up on you after a little bit
Like I said in the video u can adjust the eye. Down Wich will help stay close to the surface . N second u can slow Dow ur retrieve n keep ur rod tip up n reel slow will give the plug nice swimming wake on the surface
I have VR 150 but it recently have this issue where you having hard time crank. And sometime it reverse by itself when I crank a big fish. Now, I’m just in love with DaiwA saltist except it isn’t design to dunk.
vsonic86 yeah knew a getting the swme issue with it that the anti reverse clutch went bad . then I heard from the guy that serviced my reel told me the reel isn't made to be soaked n dunked Wich was never told my by vs so alot of ppl assumed it could be n having issues with that now .
vsonic86 yeah I heard the same last year I was told that vs never says or mentions it water sealed fully also they brought the reel out to fast into the market
Nate Gahman o for sure been sitting in all winter and working going lil crazy lol been hitting up few of that plug shows so far re stocking up on new toys for the season. . tight lines good luck to u this season
Yes it makes perfect sense to get a Saltiga, and besides this VS is a Chinese made reel. The Old Van Stall I have are made in the US and have a lifetime warranty.
Yes that is correct, however if the VR150 was not made in China, irrespective of the warranty, I would have got it in a flash. It is not that I am boycotting Chinese products, it is just that Chinese made reels and most mechanical items just do not make the cut.
Andrew Barlet I'm. Using from 8ft n 9 ft rods action med heavy with 40 lb braid . All depends what ur going to go for if ur gonna go for fluke I'd say yes if blues I'd go at least 8ft to 9 ft give u more leverage power
Good fix, one thing to watch is any sharp tag end from the trimmed side. I guess you could take a heated piece of metal and melt any sharpness without compromising the tie wrap.
yes u can interchange the reel u would have to take both the side plate off and the reel handle and the plate as well n fip over the plate inside the reel to either left or right and just reverse the plates around to the side you use to reel. . make sure u have all the plates on correctly n not messes up water will vet into the reel and the seal wont be able to do its job . make sute it on correctly and tight
I am lefty I bought vr150 it NOT reversible handle after contacted Van Staal I have to return it and got myself vr150lb & that the only reel on market today from Van Staal for lefty.
Robby Ellenberger yeah gotcha plugs are excellent for blues. good versatile plug to use either casted or jiged also good for stripers as well n other game fish as well . i like to go with 9 ft med action rod. thats all i really use
Fishingnj82 do you think a six foot six rod would be good because I plan to fish off s pier in Florida and I don't want to run my rod into people for being to big
Robby Ellenberger i would go at least to 8 or 9 ft .my gf uses a 8 ft med action rod i use 9 give it little more back bone as well to move n fight a fish and also incase u hook into something different n or bigger n also depending. the rod ratings on weight as well for lead n all that all comes into a factor as well i go with a lil more biger rod
Was wondering about your VR. Trying to decide on spending the money on a VS or VR. Have a old Stradic FI that is starting to show its age. Caught some 15 + lbs on the lighthouse side, saw some chips in the guts after the trip. Was hoping to get a 1st hand opinion with a vr owner.
j bach the reel it's self more lighter reel u can one size reel u can change n switch out the spool n rotor on it as well other then other vs reels . and also u can change the reel from left to right vise versa . wich not many people think on that part n make a big issue going out looking for the right reel . the drag system i like u need to mess with it a bit to set it in i done it while fighting a fish other then hand setting it . sorry on ggetting back im busy with work
yeah I love that about the reel. switching sizes, to fit different rods. I am split between this 500$ reel and getting 2 different reels in different sizes. Looking at a Penn slammer 3 and another Shimano Stradic 4000. Have never caught a false albacore. Gonna be making trips as often as possible. That's why I was looking at a stradic 4000 for my 7' 6". But I am starting to value quality that lasts, and servicing my own reels.
eric nunez. i like floro sinks more faster then mono wich mono floats. braid as well sinks as well n wich alows u to have more line. on ur spool then mono . i tie direct to my braid and floro using crazy ablerto knot. i dont like using barrel swivel especially when fishing at night or on rocks lets u have a longer leader .
any question or comments please add them here for some reason still i dont know why they are not showing up. if anyone know how to fix it or reslove the issue as well please let me know in comments as well thank you. tight lines
