I know Paul Lynde is one of the reasons that Hollywood Squares was so successful, but I wish he was a regular cast member of Bewitched. He was great as Uncle Arthur.
We had that green '72 Chevy Vega! I can remember mom driving me to school in that car, but sadly the road salt from those Indiana winters eventually rusted it out. 😢
I Absolutely Loved this show & Always will, but i could Never stand it when jonathan winters was on it, he had the Worst habit of dragging out an answer to a question, just so he could act Silly!
Excellent quality video... with the Slate for the promo, I am assuming you got this from the original broadcast tape. So much more enjoyable than watching the degraded, VHS quality tapes on some of the other channels. Thanks!
So sad that paul lynde died at such a young age compared to the rest of the stars. Yes, he had an alcohol problem, but dying at 55 after being so famous is saddening 😢 He was such a funny person 😢
Paul was The Funniest celebrity on that show; in actuality, his Doctor in Beverly Hills ( Dr. Packard) said that the autopsy on Paul showed that " Paul had the heart of an 89 year old man, mostly due to his chain smoking for many years". Paul Will Always be The Best Comedian & Celebrity on the Hollywood Squares".
It could be said that the Marshall "Squares" was like the proverbial "lightning in a bottle" that was caught once, and any subsequent replications went way off the mark. But it wasn't just Mr. Marshall. Announcer Kenny Williams was another part of the equation.
So sad to see that lady so excited thinking she won a car, not knowing the high luxury tax she would have to pay along with paying the dealership handling fees. They kept that one quiet for years.
Can you imagine , in 100 years from now, people will be seeing all these episodes in full color and if perseved properly, will not have to retouch the films...
During the Thomas Jefferson question, Paul Lynde said, "And that's the way it was 200 years ago." And everyone laughed. Here's why: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ir6pabr4CD0.html
Just got finished watching The Price Is Right with nighttime show from 1972 & 1975 daytime half hour Price Is Right & 1975 episode The Hollywood Squares. RIP!! BOB BARKER DENNIS JAMES & PETER MARSHALL ❤🎉😢
Dennis James was an underrated host! When I saw "The New Price Is Right" in syndication in Chicago, he was the host. I loved his enthusiasm. He was also the host of "PDQ", the syndicated forerunner to NBC's "Baffle" (there's a clip of it on RU-vid if you look around!).
It is interesting that in this episode, Joan Rivers is in one of the squares and in the late 80s version, she was the center square for about 85% of the time. Plus, Debbie Reynolds is in the center right square sitting to the left of Paul Lynde, and that's coincidental when it comes to voice acting. At the same time Debbie was sitting next to Paul, Charlotte the spider was sitting next to Templeton the rat.
50s when gunsmoke was greatest, a younger better looking matt dillion, and his side kick chester the best, when he left got stale, and Arness the alcoholic face there after, but still the best tv western
