Thank you, Laree! My Janome (which had just been fixed from this problem, started acting up again not catching the bobbin thread. Your video was a big help!
I was getting ready to buy a new one. I found you and I did what you said. I took the bobbin housing out, cleaned it all up and put it back and I'm back in business you a little while longer. Thank you❤❤❤
Hi @MiaAnstine. No, you use the seam allowance the pattern gives you and divide it by 2. You my choose to round that seam allowance up or down if it’s too tricky to divide. For example if you’re sewing a 1/2 inch seam allowance, sew 1/4th inch on the outer seam and the second 1/4th inch on the inner seam.
Thanks for the comparison. I lean toward the Baby Lock because I don't want to end up with uneven edges! Also like all the knits stitches which come in handy for hemming knits, etc. I appreciate your videos!
How is this machine performing after a few years? It looks like a good machine. Have you found your rhythm with it? Thanks for the friendly, clear demo!
Just started using my sewing machine and immediately ran into this issue. I viewed several other videos, but this was only one that I found helped me resolve the issue. Thank you soo much.
Same! This is the 4th or 5th video I watched, I was in tears. But what finally helped was when she explained about the length of the thread from the bobbin!
My upper thread isn't picking up my bottom thread ..I've adjust my timing and all that is happening is my thread is wrapping its self round my bobbin case can you help please xx
Tfs❤None of these fixed my issue but after all the stripping and cleaning. ...I realised my needle was inserted wrong🫣, that fixed the problem😂😂 sometimes checking the basics would help save heaps of time.
This was so helpful! My top thread wasn’t catching the bobbin thread and turns out I just needed to hold the top thread 🤦♀️. Thank you for the detailed troubleshooting!!
Hi i have brother se630. Recently I’ve been getting the message “check and rethread upper thread” and the thread by my needle looks like this. If I go and rethread the upper thread and the bobbin it works fine for a little bit. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Thank you! I m soo depressed 😢. Plz help out.chnged needle.oiling cleaned.no work
Hi! How is the threading issue coming along? I have students with that machine. That message only comes on when there is an issue with that upper thread. I would suggest reading the threading directions closely and compare your threading to the directions. Also, be sure to check your manual about oiling. Some machines do not require oil. If rethreading does not resolve it, I would recommend taking it to a technician.
Thank you SO MUCH! Like everyone else here, you have saved my brand new machine from certain DEATH! Being new to sewing has definitely been a challenge at 40 years old. I wish I would have paid more attention to my Grandma when she tried to teach me at a young age. You are a God send! This tutorial was amazing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with those of us who obviously have alot to learn! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! (MY LX3817 says thank you too!!!) ❤❤❤
Thanks for the awesome video. I came to find out why my thread wouldn't pick up. Thanks to your link to fix the timing, I was able to fix my machine and was able to fix the split in my pants.
Didn't help at all. Brand new jersey ballpoint needle did nothing. Tried every size even. Kept skipping. I am halfway thru this vid hoping there are more suggestions to try than just 'change to the proper needle. '
Hi! I’m sorry you are still having difficulties with your project. Using the right needle for a project is a major factor when sewing with any fabric. When it comes to troubleshooting sewing machines or fabric issues, there are a number of possible solutions and you have to find the correct one. I have a video about machine troubleshooting. These are also the things I teach in detail to my sewing students. When it comes to sewing knitted fabrics, changing the needle usually is the top solution.
