Looking for quality fish content? You've come to the right place. I am a local fish breeder with over 50 tanks and 6 years of experience in breeding and selling fish. Here at Homebred Aquatics, I focus on how to set up aquariums, make money breeding fish, and what products to buy or not to buy.
I tried a community tank with neoacaridina and mbuna fry 😊 It was a sight to see ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qLDbFFbyUDk.htmlsi=ImEJM2w_fD7boZUB
Excellent video . My issue is I live in Oregon, near a major city Salem, yet people out here are cheap! Even the stores are cheap . It’s hard to sell anything . Of course store only want to give credit too , uggh Out here people want you to trade or buy for super cheap if expect it free . Uggh
Just to demonstrate how much less you're going to likely sell your guppies for, my local fish store takes each guppy for $2 each. I bought a pair for $40. I've definitely made more than $40 in store credit, but the drop off in price is crazy
@lemonlizard1 oh most definitely! I sell mine for 2.50 or so a piece to stores. Granted, they buy them by the 100's versus selling them 2-6 to people for triple the price.
Thank you for explaining the temperature aspect of the cardinias… I think my tap water is soft enough for them, but it’s so hot in SC, idk if I can guarantee the water staying below 75 all the time, but I can in the winter. I can harden the water for the neos as well I think. Measures 6.8 out of the tap. Thoughts?
@linnealeora only options on cardinias is either a chiller or a fan blowing across the top of the tank. I was using USB fans before when I was breeding them.
I accidentally left a giant tape worm in my shrimp tank and now I can find it how do I rid the fish of tape worms without hurting my shrimps. Please help
Yes, most definitely. As the fry produce, you could very well separate them. Probably for me, I have 10 guppy tanks and doing this weekly is a huge challenge.
I subscribed because of this video, i have a 35g planted cube that i set up because my wife became obsessed with shrimp. (me too lol ) Let the obsession begin
All that talk about being a rescue and educating people, just to get to the retail space, and they still have Betta in flower vases... At least give them a gallon or two each.
I didn't notice any of that when i went personally. However, maybe I looked over it while observing the larger scapes. I mean the fact that they have what they have is better than most on a single individual's budget. I could understand that argument if it was an aquarium that was state/ federally funded but he's come out of pocket with nearly all of this.
@@homebredaquatics21:46 and 22:09 there's three I saw in the video, one red and two white, but considering there are more empty vases all along the back of the plant tanks they likely stock. Makes me wonder how many of those are empty because the Bettas died.
@SomeoneStoleMyHandle ah yes I see now. Good eye. It definitely wouldn't be my method of selling. But if they are staying to the maintenance and keeping them alive then hopefully they are educating them on proper setups for new homes. One can only hope. It's better than when I worked for petco. Especially since people wouldn't even have to consult me before taking one home.
they have burms in every store i go in why would u make that remark just made u look stupid !! not knowing what u were talking about , lost interest with the lies !!! not to mention those snakes were in way to little of an enclosure !
Aloha, if i ever make it over to Honolulu in the near future. Hopefully this year again I will be sure to get in contact to get a nice tour from the locals.
Just got one of these a week or two ago, was working fine keeping temp at 78, suddenly dropped to 76.5. Calibration set to -1.5 and it seems the heater is finally starting to warm back up to 78. Not sure if I'll have to keep adjusting it or not but I can definitely update later on. seems like no one knows anything about these heaters. Fun tip though: my phone will scan the heater every time if I put my phone near the back of the heater instead of the front, even through glass, although I'm using the 50w in a 10gal column. If it works, its a great heater, but holy shit this has been one hell of a week trying to get this thing set up optimally.
Your heater seems to have a mind of its own, dropping temperatures and playing hide-and-seek with your phone. Sounds like it's not just a heater, but a mystery box of surprises!
@@homebredaquatics forgot to reply, that thing went up over 86 out of nowhere, almost woke up to a medium rare group of fish. Tried to warranty it, company kinda sucks. Refused to work with us, sent us a new heater after everything, not going to use it after all of this. Fluval has a heater for like $40 give or take, the M50. M50 just works. Set it once and it's been fine, no problem. Sorry to say I'll never interact with sicce products again lmao.
this thing sucks, I bought one from a local fish store (200w) and the thing cant get past 72 and i have it set for 82 on a 30gallon . killed my Angelfish
Hello gd stuff now how will neocaridina do with co2 do to ph shift I want to try shrimp I have really densely planted stem tank will it work water is hard from tap , small amounts of nitrates and nitrites
I've seen them fair well in co2 as long as the ph is low. So let's say your swinging from 6.5-5.5. If it's 7.5-6.5 it won't go well. As for Hardness it needs to be sub 8. Any harder and it's going cause issue. IF USING TAP CHECK TDS! That will tell you everything you truly need to know about your water. Sub 100 tds. You're probably good to use it above that get rodi. As for nitrites that concerning and I would just stray away from large water changes using that tap water.
@homebredaquatics I can't send Pic of test strip so u can see what water is like almost everyday nitrates may be due to liquid ferts that I would have to change if I can get shrimps
Hi, thanks for the video. I’ve read that at higher temperatures a higher percentage of offspring is male. Have you noticed a skewed sex ratio in your warmer tank?
Lots of light for a long time. So, about double the lighting, you'd typically need for 12 hours a day. With minimal plants, because if you have plants in there, you will likely get hair algea on them.
I have a local fish store who I give my excess guppies and guppy/endler crosses. So far I have been very generous to him as he is just starting off. I love this hobby and perfectly happy with letting him having my home grown fish.
@@homebredaquaticsAt this point of time they need all the help they can get. My plan is that once my breeding project of crossing my double sword gold endler male with my virgin female gold guppies. He really wants these crosses because of the strength of the endlers health with the coloration of the guppies. Also he is a cousin and grandson of people I work with. Even though I live in a relatively large metropolitan the town I work in is relatively small and right now I want to build trust with him. He has offered me some plants and discounts on some of his fish so it is not all one sided. But yes I will be asking for decent compensation in the future.
@@homebredaquaticsTalking about information that is intended for a viewing platform on social media can definitely feel like there's going to be a catch involved but they have been in the background of the modern world and the average human can associate the company from seeing the logo , hearing the pitch phrases or the catchy jingle with off the charts consistency and the out of sight out of mind doesn't apply to the ability to keep their products in indelibly etched inside the brain. Obviously nothing more than television , radio and now the Internet and satellite radio executives had to know when for a vast majority of businesses have been pouring money in hoping for the same thing that matters most of all , brand awareness and ultimately brand loyalty.
The one thing i learned after a while is stability and patience. Yes you will lose some (maybe even a lot of) shrimp along the way but I find them doing better by just leaving them alone for most of the time
