The grounding of A220s over engine issues prompted AC to get these A320s, reactivate the older A319s and get some A319s from Rouge into the mainline fleet. Else the original plan was to phase out all the older A319s and A320s.
@2:14 The liquid restriction is pretty standard at international airports though. It's not limited to just water. If your coffee was liquid, then it was correctly disallowed, not plain stupid 😉
@@nonrevmax right, in that case I think it was because the hot drinks could cause harm / hazard during boating (e.g. in case of spilling). Cold drinks are fine. This is also common at most international airports. I never boarded with hot drinks in my hands, but saw other passengers in the same situation as you.
I normally don't keep my window shade open throughout the whole flight because of the harsh day light that fills the cabin (mid day flights only). Occasionally I open it and peak my head out once and awhile. To answer your question, it be at the crews discretion and they'll probably ask you to close your shade when everyone else in the cabin is trying to sleep
ANA is not a Real 5-Star airline compared to JAL. The reason is that the economy array of the B787 is row 9. The JAL is running row eight. Also, the gap between the premium economy seats is 38 inches. The JAL is 42 inches. JAL is the only airline that offers eight-row arrays to the 787 economy class. So JAL is a real five-star airline. If only 8 people sit in a row for the 9 people's seat, the distance from the person next to you will be more abundant.
Thanks for the video. So far yours has been the most in formative I’ve seen. I thought you were going to say the first upgrade was to keep the windows clean for us photo geeks. 😂. If you had mobility issues would you still recommend them over BC Ferries.
Thank you very much 🙏 And most definitely! Is easier & shorter to board + navigating a smaller vessel is a lot easier for passengers with mobility restrictions over BC ferries. Although cleaning the sea salt off the windows would be a routine pain in the ass haha
@nonrevmax did you find the seats to be hard/uncomfortable, especially while sleeping? what did you think of their bedding? how would you compare seat comfort and bedding to that of united polaris?
Not at all, it was perfectly adequate and good. I've flown on this seat twice with no bad take aways. United has bedding provided by Sach's 5th Ave so it's gonna be better
Thanks so much for this, as it is reassuring that my upcoming business class flight will be comfortable, and probably with more gadgets in the pod than I'll ever figure out how to use. I'm doing the same route as you.
Nanaimo has the best location on the Island central to everything beautiful harbour tons of beautiful parks and views. The most underrated city in BC but that has started to change now.
downtown Nanaimo is scary AF. The surrounding burbs beaches and mountains are great. I can't quite see Nanaimo/Comox/Chemainus 150k population supporting this ferry. Need a way to serve Victoria region to downtown Vancouver with its 400k population.
Do you guys also pushback ANA and JAL at YVR by any chance? They seem to request that their ground handlers "wave goodbye" to the plane after pushback.
I did a similar thing flying from England to Isle of Man years ago! My friend and I were flying off to an event, and I was delighted to see our transport was a good old DHC Otter. I lagged a bit as I looked over the plane, at which time I heard the passenger manager tell the pilot we were full, and would have to put someone up front. I joined the end of the line and asked if I'd heard right, and was granted the right-hand seat! Crouching my way through the cabin, I passed my friend, who wondered aloud where I would sit as the cabin seemed full. "It's okay," I said, "they're short a crew member so I'm flying navigator up front." "Yeah, right." At which point I slipped behind the curtain and buckled in, leaving him open mouthed. A glorious flight, and one of the best impromptu gags I ever pulled on anyone!
Many people in the world find a seaplane trip quite an exotic experince . Traveling to nanaimo from vancouver provides that as an affordable experience with world class operators . Your also have the option of helicopter ( recommended) and the hullo fast cat ferry or regular bc ferry . Getting to and from the island can truly be half the fun.
So lovely to see a review that is not about the vlogger. So many reviews out there that are loud, obnoxious and annoying. Loved the pace of this review.
Thank you very much for the feedback! Kinda my goal with this video's haha.. I don't mind mentioning some stuff I did before and after the flight, but I hate shoving a camera in my face and pretending to be someone I'm not
Thank you for the review. I guess they are like Frontier in the US. I only just found out about this airline. I love their planes as I love birds and they look like my budgie parakeets. I have started to collect the little models as I love all the colors. They look like cartoon birds. Greetings from Florida. June 18, 2024.
Thanks for the vid sir, gorgeous route. I believe they are running the last two Talgo trainsets on the BC run now, and their replacements are ordered for delivery sometime in 2026.
33 knots is a lot most ships go about 20 knots but the hulo vessels don’t carry cars. But if your home is in Nanaimo and you work in Vancouver then I guess this is a good alternative.
It's almost 100 round trip. 2000 a month if u do everyday. Gotta be stupid to do that. And 2.5 hours travel time you lose out of ur day just to save a little on housing lol
Depends on the agreement the airline has with Cathay, in most cases, no refund for downgrades, it's a bit of a gamble. This ticket was filmed on a award ticket though, technically revenue.
Hiya Nice video. You said a good point.. each flight is different true... I recently tried China Eastern. London to Shanghai to Bangkok. Nice flight food and crew just as good as Emirates and Qatar..yes I would fly with them again..But if the price is good I will Fly Thai airways to Bkk the next time. Thanks for the nice video and your time and effort to share your experience..
Nice review. It was filmed in the cooler months of HK. You must then be very busy, and all editings could only be finished, and the final clip was uploaded just weeks ago. LOL Hope to see more of your adventures
I did this flight just a few weeks after you (7th Feb) and it's interesting to see how they changed the meal times onboard compared to your flight. Like you, I arrived overnight on a connecting flight (Tokyo) and had a 8hr connection which I spent in the Silver Kris lounge. I had breakfast 2hrs before departure so opted to skip breakfast onboard. The two main meals were scheduled as breakfast after take off and dinner mid-flight, 7hrs in. I was surprised as I had expected the 2nd meal 2hrs before arrival. I slept after take off and then had the dinner service mid-flight. 2hrs before arrival I had a light meal from the refreshment menu. I would definitely have preferred the meals served on your flight. Great trip report, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video. It helps but if you can show little more detail with narrative it could be much better. On Vancouver side it will be more clear if you mention which way to turn to when approaching the terminal (passenger ticket booth or vehicle ticket booth) and what to do after getting the ticket. Could mention if there are clear signs to show directions where to board. On Victoria side if someone wants to go to the city, could show how to get on a route. You only showed how to go back to the ferry again but didn't show where to turn and pay attentions to what signs. You gave a good concept how to board and off board. Fortunately I am a frequent passenger with the ferry and I paid some attention about biking procedure and I can guess what the details could be from the video. If for someone who doesn't have much idea about it, it could still be confusing. But I am sure with the help of this video they will finally get to the ferry and off. But before their first experience with it, they may have worries that they still may have problems. This video gives good concept but it would be much better with more explanations.
Forgive me because this was one of my first videos when I started producing, I was just filming it on my phone at the time haha. That being said I totally get where you coming from and you're not wrong. But when I had the idea to film this video I was more curious on how to actually take your bike on/off the ferry and how to navigate the terminal. I was pretty familiar on how to navigate the paths on each side of the crossing so that wasn't really a concern at the time. Maybe going forward in the future if I feel like making another video on this, I'll be more descriptive on the routings to/from the terminals. Thanks for the feedback!
avoid this airline if your plan is not to the philippines! recent travel to australia. flight was cancelled and changed to 2 days after. on returning flight, flight was changed again! and the change was only informed when u arrive at manila. Very long transit hours this airlines dont provide any accomodation or compensation for the inconvenience caused. it will definitely disrupt ur travel plans last minute!
You said you had a seat in the rear part of the cabin but wouldn’t recommend it. Which seats would you recommend? We’re travelling SQ BC from Sydney to Munich in December and have selected row 95. Thanks.
Sorry if I gave that impression, I wouldn't recommend it for my case because I got suck with a bunch of babies in my cabin haha. I normal cases it's the smaller cabin, so it's typically a bit quieter. But that being said though, there's only one row difference between the front and back Business Class cabin, the back has one less row.
Just travelled on this exact SQ product from Singapore to London and I would have to say that it is the worst seat I have experienced. The crew a service were SQ excellence but the rock hard seat with little padding was extremely uncomfortable. The worst part was when you had to sleep like a contortionist with your legs way off to the side. It certainly makes for an uncomfortable flight and I will avoid the SQ Business product altogether in the future. Don’t waste your money with this seat, you’ll regret it !!
I've spent equal money for worse. People don't understand that you can shift you body to align with the angle and have no issues. I didn't have any issues either and found the seat more than adequate
20:39 the dash 8 doesn't have running water?! I flew Luxair's Dash 8 from London City Airport to Luxembourg there and back on the Dash 8. I just thought it was poor maintenance on the airline's behalf?
Not maintenance, optional feature. Jazz doesn't have them on their Q400's but instead just has hand sanitizer. Additional tank on short routes, more weight, more fuel burn.
