Guitar mates is a channel for all players. What started as an online teaching promotion, has now become a full time channel for me. I post videos of songs or techniques that I like, or feel you will benefit from learning.
I am a full time professional guitar instructor with a degree in teaching from the renowned Trinity College of London.
I am a huge fan of Iron Maiden and so far I have recorded over 100 "how to play" lessons covering their songs.
I have been teaching for over 30 years. RU-vid allows me to bring all my experience to this channel and to you as fellow Guitar Mates.
@@GuitarMates With ❤ from Belgrade( Serbia). Music has no borders. Wonder if you appreciate Ritchie Blackmore amongst the many fine British rockers! Cheers!
Hi Paul, sorry for the late reply. The sound was from an old preset i used on my Avid 11 rack. I no longer use the system anymore. I switched to THU- Overloud for all my sounds now. However I would have used a Marshall 800 amp and a 4x12 cab loaded with Green backs. I would have some chorus but to much, same with the delay. I believe at the time of recording this Dave was using the Marshall JMP -1 for his sounds. But he was always trying to get the Marshall 800 tone. Hope this helps
Hi, glad you enjoyed it. I actually use THU-Overloud VST plugin for my recording. Basicall was using a Marshal 800 sound with some over drive and a 4x12 with greenbacks.
I used to listen to this album in my Dads old Ford as it had great speakers and the guitar parts for the most part are panned hard left and right. Dam time is going by quicker than a Glenn Tipton sweep
Hello Geoff , watching live concerts I noticed him playing the A on the low E string with his pinky finger. He was looking for I heavier sound . on the first A chord . . I am not saying your wrong . Just what I noticed while watching a concert . :) Cheers :)
Hi William, I hadn't see him do that but have seen him sometimes put his little finger on the hi E string. I suppose he tried different ways to create a better sound.
I use Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky's 9 -46. I prefer the lighter gauge on the hi end and the heavier on the lower strings. Gives me the right mix for lead and rhythm.
That’s actually a great video Geoff. You can just sit down and play some riffs which is actually great practice for timing and treat this lesson as a whole song. I sometimes get bored playing the whole song as some of the chorus parts with the long changing power chords when your playing by yourself get a bit boring. Again thank you for all you do.
I know where your coming from. Once I have a verse, chorus bridge section down I don't tend to bother with the entire song. Then again I am usually teaching all day so don't have the time.
This is a really cool video - thanks Geoff! This is my favorite Priest album by a mile! I hope you don’t mind another request for your large list: Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth. I can’t find a lesson on that anywhere. Mike
Hi Mike, glad you like the video. I would love to do lessons like you mention. However YT doesn't support guitar lesson videos as it used to do before. Probably the reason nobody else has done a video on this track. I am continually looking for a format that works for lessons but its tough.
Hi Brian, sorry your having this volume issue. It doesn't show up as bad on my side. I cannot doing anything now to the video since it's published but will check new videos closely for audio issues.
A terrific album. Bought this album on vinyl upon it's original release. Would have been 16 years old at the time. It has stood the test of time. I would have to say my favorite track off this album would be Night Crawler. Maybe you could cover that in one of your instructional videos at some point. Thanks.
Hi, Night Crawler is a great track. I have actually done a lesson on this already. It is posted on my Premium Channel here is the link premium.skypeguitarlessonsonline.com/courses/night-crawler
Hi Jonathan, I have actually already done a lesson on this. Its actually on my Premium channel here is the link premium.skypeguitarlessonsonline.com/courses/the-reincarnation-of-benjamin-breeg You will find more in depth lessons on the premium channel that would be far to big for YT.
The in-depth lesson on the soling is on my Premium channel here is the link premium.skypeguitarlessonsonline.com/courses/cowboy-song-thin-lizzy. Hope this helps.
I remember getting absolutely obsessed with thin Lizzy in 88, i got live n dangerous and it was mind blowing, my all time axe man really did some great stuff with them Mr Gary Moore, the icon, the genius that was...
Very nice. Andy Summers is great, but the 3 of them in the Police were even greater than the sum of the parts. Nice guitar tone and playing by the way.
