Hey there and welcome to The Bioneer! This is a channel dedicated to human performance: going beyond fitness and functionality to become SuperFunctional!

My name is Adam Sinicki. I'm a technical writer and author of three books, including "Functional Training and Beyond." I create video essays focusing on functional training, brain training, productivity, the human body, and more. I believe that we can and should train every aspect of ourselves. We should train like comicbook heroes, and we should push ourselves and test our limits just for the fun of it. If you want to get more from your mind and body and you think. I have 10+ years of experience writing health and self-improvement articles, a personal training qualification, and a psychology bachelor's degree. But most of all, I just love this stuff!

It's so refreshing hearing someone else talk about struggles in maintaining their training. I don't have anyone to train with these days, and I often feel alone as a result, but this made me feel a little less like that. Appreciate you and your content, man

I really enjoy seeing this type of real content Adam. Kinda like you mentioned. Too many people out there(the majority) are just posting these awesome workouts. Awesome meals. And too me it’s just not realistic. I’m 35 a dad, husband working well over the standard 40 hours a week l. Don’t get me wrong I am in great great shape. Been training consistent since I was 17. But by no means am I always feeling great. Feeling super rested. Having the best meals etc. a lot of times I’m right where you’re at with this vlog and I think it’s important to show this type of stuff cuz it’s more relatable. Cuz I am human and do kinda get down sometimes when I’m thinking I need to be grinding all the time or I had one too many donuts( I have a sweet tooth lol). Anyways I’m ranting. Love the content as always

Your migraines and your back spasms could also be a result of using too much wireless technology like airpods, computer screens and smart phone screens, smart watch (non-native EMF, blue light etc.) on your day to day life. It may be worth cutting out some of this tech for about a week or two and see if it makes any difference. Thanks for the content and hope you feel 100% soon.

Hands down, the ONE channel that got me hardcore into functional strength and functional fitness training when I got back into physical training 3 months ago (after over 5 years off). I follow quite a few different fitness/training channels. But this is the ONE channel that specifically talks about and discusses functional strength and functional fitness in all its aspects. And in detail too. Much love n respect! Keep on rockin'! 🤘

Been thinking about toes and balance recently since wearing Vivo shoes. Realising a possible reason for why my balance maybe shaky is hammer toes (where the big toe bends inwards) this might contribute to foot instability... if this is a thing?

Ive recently also had to stop drinking coffee due to sensitivity to the caffeine. But good news is that there are alot of good decaf coffee so no need to feel bummed. Also latest research on caffeine seem to show that long term use of caffeine doesnt do you much good at all anyway. So no loss really.. (For more info check out video by Menno Henselmann)

After 25 years of age, every year I see and feel how i'm just a tiny bit worse, harder to recover, can't push yourself as much as before etc. It's nice to see that everyone is truly struggling with the same things and doing the best they can. Keep it up everyone!

I had 3 herniated disc and spinal stenosis, eventually progressed to Cuada Equina Syndrome. I had to have emergency spine surgery and have just been cleared to workout again. Eventually I would like to return to BJJ but one day at a time.

Yes, true sprinting could do wonders for the body and muscle growth, but you it could also be too high of an impact exercise for most people with body fat over 20%

Great video! Unfortunately, even in rural areas, there aren't always that many trees available that are suitable for a range of exercises. More and more footpaths are being blocked. and wooded areas cut off from tracks. If we want people to grow up in this country being able to go outside and exercise in a range of environments that develop all muscles, then we need better access to the countryside. We need hills, uneven tracks with roots and rocks, clumpy grass mounds, trees to hang from and climb, clean rivers and coasts for swimming. England needs a right to roam. Landowners have taken 92% of the country from normal folk. We don't know how much we've lost, and we'll miss it when it's gone.

i think a great way to keep your back strong without straining it would be bearhug carries. you can use a lighter weight for long distance. i used my bodyweight yesterday and my whole back is smoked(in a good way) and even my hamstrings are sore deapite only hinging a few times to lap and grab the bag also the behind the back deadlift with heel elevation is pretty decent for quads if squatting is hard. it ends up being almost like a pin squat if you do deadstop reps. very back friendly as the weight sits right below the hips.
@AlexandreLollini
@AlexandreLollini 6 часов назад
in my mind it is necessary to wiggle a little the feet finding the right position, when deep in the squat pay attention to the weight distribution between different parts of each foot, left/right and heel, if all is equal then you have the right position and it is real resting position. Failure is when feet are too close or if the angle is not right. It is also important to find this sweet spot before working the rotations, it's nice in the conversation when you have to speak to different people in the circle.

This is phychomotor ability. Each gesture is 50% rehab and 50% stretch/bodybuilding. It took me 4 months to manage ONE real good push up. But during the progression toward success, the difficulties were both my own weight and lack of forearm strength, but also in the mind, convincing myself that it was doable, then that I was capable of this and then executing the move, and after success I now progress and I do more and more volume. A deep resting squat was always natural for me as a photographer, but I can relate.

Bioneer I need your help. I have had poor ankle dorsiflexion for years and the only stretch that seems to help is standing on one leg and twisting outwards so my ankle rotates externally I guess. This allows me to squat better because I can push my knees outwards more. After doing this stretch it seems like all the other ankle dorsiflexion stretches seem to work. My theory is that beforehand my knees would cave inwards during movement due to tightness on the outer parts of the ankle. My feet also would try to twist outwards when squatting (probably to compensate for my knees being inwards). Would really appreciate you breaking down what is going on here with your fitness knowledge. Again, this is the only stretch that unlocks my ankles and there’s an instant improvement afterwards. The stretch is this. On one leg, hands on the wall, have other leg come across my leg and use my hands to try and twist myself outwards at the ankle while keeping my grounded foot in the same place.

Just started a second listen through of your functional training and beyond audiobook - loved it the first time through so straight back in for a rerun. Very well researched, and the whole book resonates personally. Of all the various fitness RU-vid content, I keep coming back to yours - great knowledge and genuine enthusiasm; I think your vlogs add a new and valuable dimension… Life as an adult with ‘the usual’ responsibilities can be a real ball-ache at times; I love that you are keeping it genuine by sharing this plainly alongside your progress at the gym - it’s humanising, and content like this is sparse on YT. Keep up the content production on all formats, respect to you, and thanks humbly for all your media output!

Adam thank you for the vlogs. As a new father in my 40s, I am often tired going into my workouts, and I find your transparency more motivating because i relate to them. Seeing a fitness professional deal with the same real life issues and talking about them really gives me some gas in my tank, much more than polished videos with perfect workouts and physiques. Keep it up and I'll be here for the next one! 💪🏻🙏

When I privately trained in Kung Fu in High School, we had to stretch tremendously. He taught us to stay in each position, not come out of the position for about 5 minutes. If you are stretching, keep in the position. After a while, you will suddenly feel your nervous system (not the muscles relaxing) relax and remove that tension. At that point, you are really getting the benefit. Give that a try next time you stretch. Just gently maintain the position for a while and it's quite a surprise when it finally happens. At school, during our PE classes, they were all astounded by how far I could stretch. It wasn't that I was stretching a lot, it was all in the technique.
