Hello! Welcome to my channel , I ´m from Monterrey Mexico , in my channel you will find mostly music from the early 1900s to the 1930s , presented mainly on 4 wind up machines , a 1899 Columbia Q Graphophone, who plays only 2 min cylinders, a 1918 Edison Amberola 30,for playing 4 min cylinders, a 1926 Columbia Viva Tonal 603 and a 1928 Pathe Diamond Portable. There is also a 1958 Garrard Rc121 MKII changer and a 1978 Sony Direct Drive turntable that sometimes I use to present newer records.
I hope you find comfortable in this place enjoying the little "Capsules of time" that I will be presenting.
Amazing what one can find on the internet. As a kid, I had a hand-me-down Victrola and a few worn 78s. This, and Dardanella were my favorites. Most had a chunk out of the edge - like somebody had taken a bite - so I never heard the introduction on this before.
this is the oldest mercedes i have but i had not seen this video it´s perfect today and was driven since new till 93 now only from time to time i drive it and the 220 gasoline engine it´s not fast but drinks a lot, mine is black and as a ivory steering
@@tiga4180 I can imagine the big deal it was back in the day, the music is wonderful. Since the first time I knew about it I loved every song and number.
@@rordorica A song from Rio Rita, one of my early postings: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2-ftOz_6Flw.htmlsi=3DjDO_c8u5YWVfrv There are others, including two by Bebe Daniels, who appeared in the film. They can be found by entering <Rio Rita> in the search box on my channel.
Its always sad to lose a friend & fully understand the mixed feelings the music brings. A great tune with vocal refrain & good to hear your 603 is indeed in fine voice!
@@tiga4180Thank you my friend, You, him and some others from the beginning of my experience here on RU-vid had been a very enlighting friendship, and I tresure every coment and moment. I'm glad you enjoyed this record and the Viva Tonal 603.
@@rordorica Yes, these friendships we've made on RU-vid are to be treasured indeed. Really memorable was your visit to Hull, when you brought me some records & also found some at an antique centre in York. It was sad that Marathon had a broken mainspring at the time of your visit. I also got to meet Paul Reeve of <Gramophonic Reevolution> who brought his 'hornless' Marathon Gramophone to meet mine. A very memorable day.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Tocayo, The banjo is something isn't it! I think this orchestra is a little bit underrated, they were great! I wish I had more records, but this one is the only one I have by them.
There may be no lyrics, but there's still the atmosphere of an early talking movie & the sense that the 1930's are around the corner. Yes, its good to remember the records that came along with the machine.
From around 1928 the arrangements started to sound kind of like in the 30s, but I think that very dramatic and expressive, this one is a favorite of the ones I have from this period. I'm so glad you ' ve enjoyed it my friend!
I'm glad you enjoyed it Jurek, whit this gramophone came this and some other records with the dealer stickers, for me is also very interesting when that happens because I think is nice to know a little more of the history of that certain record. Blessings!
Obviously, this was one of the absolute favorites of the NY opera concertgoers at the beginning of the 20th century - and after. Still one of my all-time favorites - even after collecting discs/cyls. for 66 years, a music degree program in college plus a 35 year career as a sound recordings archivist - Library of Congress. [The Marx Brother, Kitty Carlisle and Allan Jones also seemed to enjoy having featured the opera in "A Night at the opera" (1935) - still my favorite Marx Bros. film. [Chico sure loved playing "anvil." This cylinder (a directly-recorded cylinder pre-dating the "damerol" period where Edison chose to dub Edison discs onto cylinders after Dec. 1914 is amazingly clear and full - the best acoustic sound available in 1913.
