Pity about the window - a smaller one might have fitted?.Nothing beats fresh air in the room after a shower or a number two 😂. Building regs do look for a ventilation fan though, if you are going to get their approval.
Yes dormas..no question, absolutely. Just make it work, even if it effects the budget. Curb appeal is the only thing missing. House needs a face right?
Just started watching your channel so you’ll have chosen your option by now but you can never have too many bathrooms… 🤣 We get the keys to our house soon which needs some TLC so I am LOVING watching your videos for inspiration! Can I ask how much the architect plans cost you please?
Hi Hannah, so glad you’re enjoying the content. We couldn’t recommend Arkiplan any more- they’re fantastic and cost us around £5,000 for all drawings + building control and structural engineer. If you’re looking at signing up with them then we have a little code for you which is linked in the description of our videos (maybe not this one)- that gets you £100 off as well 😅
Now there’s no window, consider putting a ceiling extractor in their whilst the floor is still up above it, vent it out of the wall inbeween the floor joists or depending on the height where it comes out, vent it back down through the soffit also bear in mind where the extension is going
Hi have you thougĥt about using waterproof bathroom panel. I had a wet room done in my sister and friend had it done no grouting no plastering and easy to clean its worth a look ❤
With the kitchen extension i can not rember if you said it would be level with the house or not but if its level with the house you could always do a raised patio with steps leading down into the garden off it made out of bricks of some sort and it could be fit with some nice pavers a fire pit and seating and maybe a grill! Its just a thought i had when you showed the back of the plot and how mush room you had :)
What if you put the staircase along the front bedroom wall/hallway? Then it wouldn’t take part of the living room area. You could move the bedroom door to the little nook where the other bedroom door and bathroom door is. And move the living room/utility room wall over a few feet for a wider hallway.
Taking shape, I wonder if the upstairs room-in-the-roof was added later and not original? which would explain the staircase shoehorned into the lounge.
Hi Nicky and Harry. We replaced our spindles, bannisters and newel posts using white American oak from Jackson Woodturners of Sheffield. As we replaced the stair parts during the last covid lockdown over Christmas, we weren't able to visit their showroom so took a chance ordering on line. The delivery was on time, parts well packaged and quality second to none. They also supply glass panels. We also found that they were competitive when it came to pricing. Hope this helps.
loving the videos- but Pushfit fittings should not be covered over in plaster. The o ring needs to be energised for them to seal and that can involve a small amount of movement in the pipes. If the pipes can't move the fraction required, you run the risk of a leak. all the best !!
Wow - you've done sooo much this last week. I think you've done the right thing by moving the stairs rather than the front door. Having them more central just makes sense so you can access upstairs easily from the kitchen rather than always walking through the whole house each time. Also you wouldn't be able to have the upstairs layout as you wish with them at one side. And your professional architects that you have used and taken advice from obviously know what they're doing. We have the oak and glass staircase which we highly recommend. We got it from Stairbox. Lets the light shine through especially good for when it's in the middle of the room and will seem more spacious and it looks very high-end. And glass is so much easier to keep clean with a squirt of Windolene rather than needing a bucket of soapy water to clean off grubby handprints from spindles or a painted wall! Alfie's tiling looks top-notch. It's obvious that he's been doing this sort of thing for some time. Viewers should not let his youthful looks belie his years of experience. Your garden is massive!! Can't wait to see next week's installment 😁😁❤❤
*The wisest thing that should be on everyone's mind currently should be to invest in different streams of income that don't depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver, and digital currencies (BTC, ETH...).*
I began investing in stocks and Def earlier this year, and it is the best choice l've ever made. My portfolio is rounding up to almost a million and I have realized that when a stock makes it to the news, chances are you're quite late to the party, the idea is to get in early on blue chips before it becomes public. There are lots of life changing opportunities in the market, and maximize it.
Have you considered moving the front door to the end of the property instead of moving the staircase? Might wreck your double en suite plans and waste space upstairs for a corridor but would probably give you a bigger and better layout downstairs.
Living for these weekly uploads. You guys are not work shy at all. But make sure you have at least one day off from filming/renovating/editing. Don't burn out 🫶🏼
Haha the getting sissy over lost tools had us lollllling, that's us on the reg 😅😅. You guys are flying, we'll played lads, what a week! Skillshare is class! ❤
Smashing it out this week! 🔨⚒️🔨 I thought your open plan room looked quite good... have a good think about your stairs. Leave the floor tiles until last next time, no point risking damaging them! 😵
Wow, you have had a busy week! You've done so much. Taking the wall down has made a massive improvement. Alfie is a cracking tiler. The lads did an awesome job of the garden. Everyone has worked so hard 👏 Can't wait for next weeks video. Take good care ❤x
Looks good. Just to let you know you need to put pipe inserts inside JG Speedfit pipe at every connection, this stops the pipe from deforming and ensures it seals. Here is the screwfix code: (18100). I know its probably a bit late now though but it will likely cause problems later.
Luckily we realised our mistake and resolved it before the plasterer came - annoyingly it’s these little things we can’t always get on camera and explain completely!
Watching from New Zealand. Throughly enjoy watching your videos and can’t wait to watch them over my Monday morning cup of coffee. So looking forward to next week. Keep up the great work guys.
100% - especially burying them before you’ve connected everything and tested for leaks - which you can’t when plumbing a shower so always best having soldered pipework.
