Very interesting video. Especially it's 29$ this week-end. Would you recommend doubling it with Abbey Road 2, in order to avoid machine gun effect and still get the bite of AR2 (best of both world) ? I own AR2 but there are some things for which I'm not that happy with it. Especially repetitive lines...
What ? 29 bucks ? Omg. This only tells me how Ai is crushing the sample library industry.. So far yes, I would not be able to use 8DIO's deep quintet without AR2 and other extra solo libraries. They work for some specific purposes and even there you bump in some programmation errors that make them not perfect for every tempo, every tonalities... Again see what Ai is doing with SynthV and full orchestra is round the corner. Samples are over in a matter of years.. months (just like composers ;) )
@@moreausylvainhave a look at Suno AI and you will see we are almost their already. I still like the creation process so I would like AI for instruments rather than to create entire tracks, but Suno shows how quickly things are moving. BTW I watched the video and bought the library for $28 even with AI around the corner it is still useful to have.
@@moreausylvain Thanks for the answer. Sad perspective regarding AI... I truly hope AI will be contained legally, that people will understand the risks not only for musicians, but for everybody (doctors, accountants, engineers, etc. etc.). But actually, even without AI, the artistic level became so low and generic lately, because of algos (streaming, youtube, facebook, etc.), that it seems most content is already produced by an AI since years. I hope something will happen that will destroy this toxic environnement. If you are interested in these issues, take a look at Bernard Stiegler : he wrote interesting books about that. Thanks ;) long time I want to do a video about finger drumming on the tempest. New drum machines coming out.. but it's always 4x4 MPC style. 8x2 is more ergonomic and I used to do some funk session just putting on old dunk music and playing along with the Tempest. very playfull !

not sure what the hype is here, those kicks are pretty boring, Tempest is wooly each kick is inconsistent, no CV so you are stuck with MIDI, Tempest is a brick. So many better options out there for analogue kicks...
I bought mine in 2011. Belive me there was nothing else then overpriced 808/909 available or vermona. Tempest was an amazing news. Presets were terrible and no one says tempest is the perfect tool but if you combine sound design sequencer and performance it's the tool I prefer. I don't need CV for my drums, midi is good enough although I miss CC.. but then other tools like octatrack I use don't send playback CC moves anyway (I mean with scenes) and for analogue kicks really .. well I had elektron rytm and different modules (mutant, tiptop and ssf) they are great... not better overall i'll keep the tempest for now ;)
Tempest kicks are amazing. Everytime a new drum machine is on the market (JOMOX, MODOR) first thing I look for its the kicks and IMHO none of them sound as powerful as tempest, only exception, vermona DRM1 MK4, although different sounding kicks, are powerful and round.People that criticize the tempest probably don’t know those two names on top. Your kicks are amazing, love them.

Brilliant! I have a Tempest and these claims I see fairly commonly online that it doesn't have good sounds or can't produce deep kicks totally crack me up. It's like saying a Tesla Dual Motor can't accelerate quickly. It is the quintessence of absurdity. These folks truly don't understand its powerful architecture and almost limitless capabilities. Amazing sound design!! Knew the Tempest is deep, but man are the sounds spectacular. I picture a knife flying through air and sticking into wood on a few. These would be perfect for film production.
Hi Nem. These are not "samples" but sysex files. You can't load any sample in the Tempest unfortunatly. If you press "Save/Load" on Tempest you can see how much Free memory you have left. Then If you go to the menu Save / Sound, you can see how much Free slots you have for sounds in the Tempest. If any of these numbers (Memory or Slots) are close to 0 you are at risk to not be able to save / import ot it might delete previous data you have on tempest. Best it to backup your sounds, beats, projects via Sysex and make sure you have enough free slots to import the sysex you want and Memory to save beats and projects. Read more about memory in the manual page 57/58 ;)
Hi, Are you talking about the wave reset in analog osc ? Because I put this "on" all time and the sound in this exemple has no OSC anyway it's resonant filter. Not sure what you mean by "rest after touch"

sorry to hear that... very frustrating specially if your plan was to use with the daw. I was only using it in hardware only so.. I tried with nuendo and couldn't make it work either.. but i'm sure (?) i was doing it right. Anyway I they replied to my resquest "Could you also write the nuendo support. It could be that they have a clear explanation/solution for the problem. Our vst3 should work fine" I left it there.. i'll try update when I have some time and see how it goes. Meanwhile, tell me if you solved it 🤞
@@sonicpetal man! At least I’m not crazy! And this is huge . No other way to say it … a sham . When a retailer specializing in modular tech everything can’t make it work either and says simply it absolutely does not work return it to us as soon as possible it’s really shocking to hear that . Plus all the functionality changes if you set it to start and stop when the play button is pressed! No negative detent either in standalone mode! And all for a whopping $600.00 at least . Smoke is coming out of my ears right now . Plus they are almost unreachable and don’t directly answer questions . I had an apple expert help with the plugin install to make sure it went perfectly and it still was a stone 👽

Have you figured out the mics by now? It's the lower knob on the interface. Goes from close to room i think and everything in between. Thanks for the video.
You are right ! By the look I first thought those were for stereo spread. I would have preferred more distant mic and dedicated outputs to send to surround.
@@moreausylvain I would have preferred a different room all together. ;-) One thing i would add is that, like me, you seem to have over looked those very musical arcs included with the library. Anyway, I'm just about pull the trigger. Perfect addition to their intimate St. Strings. Just wished they'd recorded in a different room.
I wish there were pdf manuals for 8Dio products on their website. I only have a dozen so of these 8Dio libraries - I must have had no trouble setting them up, so I never checked if there were pdf manuals. I just purchased this puppy now and I'm not familiar with setting it up apparently. I got presented with a box to load slots, and I picked from what was presented, so I hear something, but I am not at all sure how to blend these instruments, or load pairings, and clearly I'm not hearing all 3 instrument groups. I guess its mentioned somewhere but I feels utterly stupid. I feel as curious as the cat roaming the apartment. [figured it out. I wasn't understanding the process because when I tried to hear the individual sounds the little dots were not turning on and off for me momentarily apparently because I had inadvertently selected an empty slot at that time - phew! ).
you can find the pdf manual of most kontakt libraries in the library folder under "Documentation". But the deep quintet library is not as "deep" as it's sampling :'D what I do is in the kontakt browser i select then right click on the instrument and select show in browser. From there you navigate to the pdf. Hope it helps.

ER-M Multiclock USB ist not the cheapest way but the best to syncronize DAW with external Hardware! I think a long time about it to buy one but 519€ are a lot of money for a piece of Hardware that creates no Sound to make music like a Synthesizer. i'"ve luck and get one second hand for 400 Bucks! It"s indeed plug&have fun with no sync Problems! DAW is Ableton Live! I love this little Piece.... 🖖
