I felt the same for the first year I owned this machine. That was around the time the Analog Rhythm came out, and that sounded so good straight out the box. But subsequent, I know this machine do well, and it does everything I want - and still it sounds like no other machine. It can be anything you want.❤️
Yes. I recently also use it more for synths 😅 fell bad it's sitting there and never really used it for that. It has nice noisy pads. I need time to build more presets. To bad the prests are so poorly organised.i always hoped some guys would come up with a USB app to manage it 😔
@@moreausylvain I hear you, and that that many of the Prophet V samples have terrible noise on them, if only there way a way of adding your own samples. What I love most is that it can really emulate the sounds of vintage drum machines so well, but with a great sequencer.👍🏽🙏🏻
Not wrong, at all! The Tempest can sound as punchy & massive as anything else out there. Since it’s a drum SYNTH and requires the user to understand HOW TO synthesize the sounds they’re looking for, it’s my feeling that the Tempest sounds as good or bad as the users’ ability allows. Those Adam Schneider videos are fantastic and taught me a lot about drum synthesis. Essential viewing if you own a tempest. Thanks for sharing your sounds and knowledge!
Sorry for the bills !!! I had to do this with a musicman bass 10y ago.. and bought the same bass 5y later 😅 same story. Some tools we should never sell them 😓 thx for your message.
Tempest kicks are amazing. Everytime a new drum machine is on the market (JOMOX, MODOR) first thing I look for its the kicks and IMHO none of them sound as powerful as tempest, only exception, vermona DRM1 MK4, although different sounding kicks, are powerful and round.People that criticize the tempest probably don’t know those two names on top. Your kicks are amazing, love them.
Interesting video. Would you tell me which samples you used with the analog kick and whether it is in sync mode in the oscillator section. And how your mod matrix modulation settings are? Would like to see more of your Tempest videos, have been following you for a couple of years since owning the Tempest myself.
Hi ;) thx. Well out of 18kicks i have 6 using samples (#41;#23#45;#342;#189#317) But really i use nothing but the first 5ms nothing from the punch or tail of those samples else they mess with the osc or res filter. I don't even know how those samples sounds like "raw". I like to change those sounds to what ever works. Often some hh short sounds pitched >+12. If not samples then i might use some noises #2; #5; #4 again for some transient. There's nothing crazy on the mod matrix. I only have 3 lines for "electronic" kicks going to level osc3 etc. For "acoustic ones" or more "realistic" i have more random / velocity in the mod paths. I never use Sync as i only use 1osc (or 0) .
Im a little late to the party but excellent video. Can I ask a vry boring question? what is that stand you have the tempest on? is it drum hardware, like a snare stand or something? Cheers
Hello. Sorry nothing fancy it's just a speaker stand 😅 to have all in one shot with the video. Else I have the tempest on the other side of my studio close to the octatrck.
Hello from Germany, I am realy interessting in your amazing kicks, is there a option that you share it ? I will also pay for it, it is very good foundation 4 a track 👍
Hi, thanks for your feedback! Kicks presets are available from my website linked in the description from this video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3ovFmwgRRY.html
not sure what the hype is here, those kicks are pretty boring, Tempest is wooly each kick is inconsistent, no CV so you are stuck with MIDI, Tempest is a brick. So many better options out there for analogue kicks...
I bought mine in 2011. Belive me there was nothing else then overpriced 808/909 available or vermona. Tempest was an amazing news. Presets were terrible and no one says tempest is the perfect tool but if you combine sound design sequencer and performance it's the tool I prefer. I don't need CV for my drums, midi is good enough although I miss CC.. but then other tools like octatrack I use don't send playback CC moves anyway (I mean with scenes) and for analogue kicks really .. well I had elektron rytm and different modules (mutant, tiptop and ssf) they are great... not better overall i'll keep the tempest for now ;)
