Tie the pattern with a mix of red and green or yellow hair on the dorsal portion and you have a great steelhead streamer!

great fly...i have only been salt water fly fishing a couple times only for a hour or so.. i plan to do this more often now

Something even simpler. Heat up your hot glue gun. Slip a bead on the monofilament. Insert the end of the mono into the muzzle of the glue gun about 6 mm. Withdraw it, it will be coated with glue. Immediately slide the bead down to about 3 mm from the end. Hold it for a few seconds while the glue sets, then trim off the 3 mm of mono and set glue at the end with a razor blade. Done.

Superglue will stop a hook point's bleeding.
