I think that Shankar Jaikishen were a class of music diectors who were heads and shoulders above the rest in the film industry. For their success the contribition of Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri cannot be undermined.

The highest collected movie of Shankar jaikishan was Sangam 1964 . as per inflation correction its collected was 724 crores only..And many have said that Barsaat Outpassed Andaz in 1949 very badly..for me its a joke because Andaz collected 1 core and barsaat collected 10 lakhs more than that.that means 10 percent more than Andaz.thats not that much big differance. And plz dont say all the music composers walked on the footsteps of SJ. No one walked on their footsteps except LP or KA duos. so i will encourage you to get your consenses right. And one more thing i want to say about fast paced for sad song. plz listen Aayi Diwali song from Rattan 1944. let me tell you rajiv the lyricists you mentioned who wrote after 1968 were not of the caliber as the earlier ones and from here the decline started and after going of JaiKishan the era came to an end so grievnacin Is not it

But at the same time I would like to point out that u missed out on a very crucial element of the core team of Great Shankar- Jaikishan. You didn't even in a single instant mention the two class strangers they had e.g. Sebastian D'Souza for the western section and Dattaram Wadkar who looked after the percussion deptt. Last few years, I am completely cut off from current music. The only exception for me is Rahman. I simply listen to music from 50s-60s or ghazals or Rahman (if in mood for new music). Singers are no more linked to actors... It was still there in early 90s (SP for Salman, Udit for Aamir etc). Now songs have no character and life of their own
We never get the satisfaction from others, what we get from Shankar Jaikishan songs. Beautiful melody, amazing orchestra, it literally touch your soul, transport you to another planet. That is why veteran music director Naushadji called them magicians. There is a temple in London in their name. Their musical contribution are part of Indian culture and legend. I pay my humble respect to the memories of these great sons of India. 🙏🙏
In cricket parlance they were the Don Bradman of the Hindi Film Industry. If any Tom Dick and Harry says SJ were good (They were the best) than just forget about the idiot who said this. Till the music of Hindi Film is heard the name of SJ will always be taken with respect and awe.
But then sir, Shatrughan Sinha's acting did not go with Rafi sahab's voice... although dostana ya phir aaj mere yaar ki shaadi hain was there yet there are also songs like teen batti wala govinda ala,( another rafi kishore) or songs from blackmail or jwalamukhi wherein kishore gave voice to Shatrughan sinha more perfectly
