This channel is dedicated the the immersive world of VR sim racing. We will be trying to improve the video capture of VR racing, testing out new plugins and filters to try bring the most IMMERSIVE POV VR sim racing in live streams and recorded vids.
Yo!. Finally a race in my favorite track😁 I must say you did it justice despite the mishap and the all but perfect car. Your number one fan here from Nairobi Kenya 😎 Always happy to see a new video. Keep em coming. See you on track.
Hey nice video! If you don’t mind me asking, how do you record the gameplay? I’ve been using OBS through an oculus mirror window but this looks way better than what I put out
Glad you enjoyed it! I dont mind you asking....just a bit complicated to explain in a comment. I too record with OBS and the WMR mirror. Short answer -> Bitrate & GPU scheduling optimisation and some movie magic(sorta). For a longer discussion, all my settings for iRacing, OpenXR & Nvidia CP are all available on the Immersive Racing Discord. Free to use! We are a small but growing community. We can chat and try help to improve.
Fellow Reverb G2 user here. Can you share you VR settings? I would say you are not using Open XR due to the overlays correct? What other settings do you have in game also? Thanks
Hi RedOne. Actually I do use OpenXR :) The overlays you see here are only visible on the recording and not visible in my headset. But if you wanted, you can pin overlays in OpenXR with an app called Open Kneeboard App. Details for this and all my settings for iRacing, OpenXR & Nvidia CP are all available on the Immersive Racing Discord. Free to use! Link is in the video description or Chanel Page.
In the Control Menu...scroll down and look for "Low Fuel Accept". Map it to a button. When the alarm comes up, hold for 2sec and it should vanish. Its really annoying in Quali when you cant see your delta.
The overlays in this video are only visible on the OBS recording, I cannot see them in VR. If you want to use overlays in VR, use an app called Open Kneeboard App. It can pin any open window in VR. Works with both OpenXR and SteamVR. Its super easy to use and doesnt need any additional apps to work. Here's a link: github.com/OpenKneeboard/Openkneeboard/releases/tag/v1.8.2
Good race, well done! I was at Spa last Saturday for the WEC 6h. Your 3-wide down at Les Combes was similar to what happened with the WRT 46 BMW, but that ended in tears 😂. Such a good combo, Pcup and Spa
Thanks! The overlays are from the Racelabs App. If you're using OpenXR for your Reverb (which I recommend), then the only way to pin overlays in VR is with Open Kneeboard App. Its an app used by DCS players to pin any window in VR. You can set up profiles for different cars too. These overlays are only visible on the recording as I dont use overlays really in VR as I find them distracting (except maybe the fuel usage overlay or Endurance events)
+1 sub very Nice editing. I have quest 3 too but my pc is to weak to run Iracing on vr. Im planning to build i New pc soon, do you think The 4070 ti super is enough or maybe wait a little and get The 4080 super?
Thanks for the sub mate! The 4070ti Super is more than enough to run Q3 no issues. With 16BG VRAM you should be more than fine. One of our community members runs the 4080 super and he loves it....so it really comes down to how much you want to spend...in PC land, more is always more :)
These overlays are only visible on the recording...I cant see them in-game. The only method I've seen work to get them in VR is to use "Open Kneeboard App". Its a program used by DCS players and can pin any window in VR. Ive pinned stream chat and Racelabs overlays in VR using this method. Edit:full app name
Sorry for slow response. I love my Reverb G2 but I wouldnt recommend it now. HP are getting out of the VR game and Microsoft is no longer supporting WMR. I use Win 10 instead of 11 so it doesnt affect me. I would recommend the Quest 3 with airlink cable. Excellent price for up to date features, Pancake lenses and the ability to run without a PC for those few party nights with friends :) Im looking at either that or the Big Screen Beyond...only due to the comfort it will provide for endurance racing...but the Q3 is my first choice. Hopefully later this year :) Edit: Typos...so many typos. I need a new keyboard :)
Do you record through Oculus Mirror with OBS, been meaning to get some stuff recorded myself! If so what stabilization settings are you using in Oculus Mirror?
I hold a locked 90FPS with settings higher than you see on this video. I lower them to streamline the bitrate for the encoder with overhead. With that CPU/GPU combo you should be able to run higher settings. Also just an FYI..NVMe's make a difference for VR too.
Great video! Quick question, for the TV Cam in the bottom right, are you just opening up the replay after the race and rerecording it and overlaying in post? I also want to record multiple angles, but don't like having to leave my PC recording a 30 minute race replay after every race...
Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, the TV replay is recorded after the fact and added in post. To do it in one shot, you would need a 2nd PC and a 2nd iRacing acc. That PC would spectate and OBS on your main PC can overlay that capture as a external video source over IP (OBS NDI plugin). Also, a dual capture card system could work. Ive considered this for future live streams but for videos I dont mind recording after the fact as it gives me a chance to watch the race from a different perspective.
Welcome back! I use the paddle shift for the MX5. I also used stick seq for a long time but as soon as I switched I found I had better control over the car during the braking/turning phase.
Im glad you like them. I enjoy making them :) All my settings are available on the Immersive Racing discord. Link is in the description. I continue to tinker and post my updated settings and try help others dial in their own VR.
I was thinking of going left at that moment....but the risk of spinning the #9 car was too high :) It would have been a shame after such great racing from everyone.
Hey Matt. The short answer in GPU scheduling optimisation. Its all about streamlining the bitrate from frame generation to the render..to the mirror..to the encoder. Remember...they not just all eating from the same pie...they're all using the same spoon :) All of my current and future recording settings are available on the Immersive Racing discord.
If you can afford the Quest3 go for it. The pancake lenses are eye tracking etc are amazing. Far better than a G2. That said...I love my G2. It has 4K displays (2160X2160) which hold up to todays VR headsets. The only issue is the small sweet spot due to the Fresnel lenses but FOVeated Rendring and CAS sharpening have greatly improved this. It looks even better in the headset than you see here. This is just the left eye image (stretched to 16:9).
@12ichie I bought a Quest 3 last week , overall I'm pretty impressed with it ... I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I keep playing with settings to get it just right .
