Hi, I'm Bryan! I’m an ever-increasing fan of long distance running, and above all, I’m a wannabe. I “wanna be” an achiever. I "wanna be" more than what I am today. I “wanna be” an example that proves an average person can toe the line with more talented athletes.
If you share my passion to improving yourself from the 3.1 to the 26.2, let’s get to the starting line together! #ImpossiblePossible #ImAWannabe
Thank you in advance for viewing and being part of the passion!
For business inquiries such as a potential review on shoes, gear, or a race event, I may be contacted via social media through private messaging. Please reference "The Faster26.2".
This year, I enlisted the help of a running coach. After some bouts of injury, a coach provided insight and much needed flexibility as you get back to form.
Hopefully Milwaukee goes better! Idk if you know the issues they’ve had with that race in recent years. I assume you’re doing the one in April and not the lakefront marathon in October. Amazing city!
Great video and fantastic sub-4. Sounds like this was a flat course. I did the Shamrock Marathon and even though the race coordinators say it is a flat marathon, it is not with that incline bridge at mile 15. What US marathons are flat? Also, have you done the Houston marathon? I was thinking about that one. Thanks
Funny you say that! Houston video coming out later today! (A little late but you ask, and you shall receive) My favorite flat ones are Myrtle Beach, Chicago, Tokyo, and Berlin 👍🏽
Awesome! Did you like Myrtle Beach over Houston and was it flatter? I am trying do decide between the 2. Thank you so much for your videos! @@TheFaster262
@Marc-dk8vw purely from elevation, I’d go Myrtle Beach, but if you want a higher level of organization, crowd support, and large race atmosphere, definitely Houston. You won’t go wrong with either.
Bryan, congrats on your Sub-4 last year. I just finished the 2024 Shamrock Marathon. It was my first one and your video really helped me to see the course and that bridge around mile 15. It has an incline and you really feel it because once you are off it at mile 16 you realize you still have 10+ miles to go. I did it at 4:19 for my first one and hope to get to a sub-4 on the next 1-2 marathons. Keep posting these marathon videos and if you can let us know about the start line and finish line. For example, the start line and finish line for the Shamrock Marathon are about 1 mile apart.
Bryan, I will run the Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach this weekend (2024). It is my first marathon and it starts at 730am. I did not see what time to get in the corral. But from your video on it there was a lot of people out there. What time did you get there to check-in the morning of the marathon?
Hey there! Great to hear on your first marathon! Shamrock is a decent size event so showing up 30-45min before the start will allow you time to warm up, use the portables, and whatever your pre-run routine calls for. Have fun!
Thanks. Any tips to what to put in the race bag? I will include the long sleeve shirt they give, small towel, maybe a bar to eat, sliders.@@TheFaster262
@@Marc-dk8vw mainly depends on you. My hotel was 200feet from the finish so I didn’t use the race bag, however I did have comfortable clothes set out once I refreshed. “Fortune favors the prepared.” 👌🏽
That's right, mine is within walking distance also. So, once you were done and you went to your hotel to change clothes, could you go back in for the after marathon festivities or once you leave you cannot go back in?@@TheFaster262
Thank you for sharing. I'll be running this marathon course for the first time - what advice would you give / what should you mentally prepare for before going? Great video!
It’s a good race and well organized. Like many marathons, crowds dwindle past 13.1, but that’s where mental toughness comes in 👌🏽 The military installation, and the boardwalk are the main points. Have fun!
Great video. Congratulations on your race. I heard hydration vests are not allowed but I saw few runners in your video wearing back packs and hydration vests. Were they allowed? Thanks
Thank you! I recall the Runner's Handbook discouraging the use of camelbacks and hydration vests. It's tough to enforce 100%, so it's possible some were allowed (or snuck underneath layers of clothing) through security.
@@gigibello It's definitely possible. As you know, reserve energy for Queensboro and the mile 23 uphill. Those continue to be killer each and every year.
Unfortunately it does. Japanese are best known for their efficiency and obedience with the rules. There are circulating videos of runners who are seconds past the cutoff, and forced to stop. 🙈
@@TheFaster262 Dang! Hopefully I can finish within the time 😅 Also if you ever decide to do a marathon in Hawaii (where I’m from) of course there is the big one with the Honolulu marathon but also take a look at the Maui marathon.
Thanks! If you are a back of the pack runner, then this will worry you as I believe you have to keep more than a 13-14 minute per mile pace to stay ahead (8.4 minutes per KM). For me, I was at the 30k mark when I saw the bus cross at the 21k point. Running a consistent 9min per mile created a worry-free cushion!
Nice video. I'm amazed that you were able to hold your video camera through out the race. You don't even look like you're tired when reach the finish line. What type of watch are you wearing? Is reading close to your official finish time?
@@TheFaster262 - Thank you for the quick response. I am running the Tokyo Marathon next year and your video gave me a pretty good view of what the course would look like. Thank you!
Brian, what did you record it with (iPhone, GoPro, etc)? If you used an iPhone or GoPro, which model? Just asking because the video quality was great (no shaky cam) and so was the audio (no background loud wind blowing noises and we can hear you clearly). I am working on my first marathon (early 2024) and would like to record myself at certain points of the course to give myself notes (such as at mile # I am doing fine, but at mile # I am experiencing X). This way I can learn from it for my next one. Thanks
@@TheFaster262 Oh no, that must have been brutal. I also did not factor in the massive wind against you as that marathon is near the coast from the look of it. Those conditions are not for me even though it is a flat course I think. You did great though. Great video recap. PS- Subscribed.
I received a guaranteed entry by purchasing and completing the Virtual Marathon during the COVID lockdown. These guaranteed entries sell out very fast, so you’d have to be on top of their NYRR announcements.
Great recap! I just ran my first marathon in Newport a few weeks ago and the course was basically the same. That back half was toughhhhh 😅 I was not prepared for those hills but I made it through and got it done! Loved reliving it through your video here! Subscribed!
👋🏽 Recently upgraded my chip storage so I can record beyond the GoPro standard 1hr limit. In a once in a lifetime experience to Japan, I need all I can get!
What an awesome experience. Japan is a bucket list visit for me so I hope you were able to squeeze in some time to enjoy the country while you were there. Also, big fan of the SAO opening sequence at the beginning of the video.
