While I think training alone is good especially for developing/improving technical skills, I think you only get better at the game by playing the game. I know several players who I feel I'm better than at shooting, passing and tricks but that play much better than I do in games. That's because I spend most of my time practicing alone but not having to test them out in game scenarios, while they are fully comfortable with the pressure and limited time that games consist of.
i train 2 hrs daily for the past 2 years. now i can shoot from basically anywhere as a Striker and i can perfectly place it into the top corners with BOTH feet, i already had a knack for creativity and dribbling now with me doing cones im even better.. training alone is good. my long passes and overall passing is impeccable, i have insane stamina more than the rest of my friends because i train alot alone, and the best part of me before was my insane first touches. i could take a first touch and finish while being marked by 5 people easily, and now because i train alone, that first touch was improved by astronomical ammounts. im practically unstoppable because i train alone
Marat, I was invited to two D2 practices for tryouts and I feel like I did not perform as well as I could have. I have little experience regarding tryouts, but the coaches said I could go to their Tuesday practice for one more evaluation. I feel nervous and I’m not sure how to prove my skills to them within an unfamiliar environment. Do you have any tips for me?
I am 16 and I only started 2 years ago. I am on a team and I constantly feel out shined and I wanted to improve but I didn't know what to do so I watched this and now I have a guideline to follow so thanks you deserve my subscription.
It helps your overall game tbh. I don’t play anymore but when I did, when I was fit, my legs felt light during the game etc. so I had the advantage. You just feel more fresh during a game and more springy on your feet.
I’d like to add that when you do play slower, your touches are supposed to be more deliberate and with a bit of confidence behind it. I found that when I perform skills like stepovers, defenders tend to overcommit when I really sell that initial slower, but deliberate, feint; going faster makes it much harder to perform with full technique. Again, as the others said, there’s a time and place for playing at different speeds.
I would also add direct plyometric training( plyo hops, single legs hops, bonds & lateral hops) as it will make you jump higher sprint and job faster without using alot of energy resource.
This is all positional and situational. Not always fast and not always slow. Everything in football is about decision making. The best players know when to play quick and when to slow it down.
