I read your blog post - thanks for writing that, it's given me a new perspective on the value of writing things down (I could never quite see the point in journalling before but I think I get it now, it's like how explaining to someone else to teach them also helps deepen your own understanding of a subject). As for money and self worth, I think that's an unfortunate consequence of the society we live in, it really shouldn't be about money. What's money anyway except a measure of time spent? The value of your work is in the practical or emotional impact it has on someone - does it make a task easier for them to do? Does it bring them joy or understanding? If yes to any of these, what you've done is valuable, and for me your Guild Wars and Life Update videos do that 🙂
How do new sets work in MTG? Can you just buy the full set of new cards? Or do you have to buy like packs and hope you get them all at some point? My only reference is from buying Pokémon cards way back in the day.
A good question! You have to buy booster packs and open them, or you can buy individual cards on the secondary market. That latter method is generally cheaper if you have specific cards you want to get. However, limited formats (sealed and draft) use booster packs. So when I was talking about the price of Modern Horizons 3, my local game store (LGS) is expecting them to cost twice as much as a regular booster ($12 USD instead of $6), which makes limited events about twice as expensive. This means my LGS won't do as many events using the set, since most people don't want to pay that much. (And, frankly, I wouldn't be able to currently afford doing more than maybe one, anyway.) So you can buy the entire set from the secondary market if you want, but Wizards of the Coast only sells Magic in randomized booster packs (well, there are also preconstructed decks, but that's another matter entirely).
Where you're at in the desert is right about where I was at when I stopped playing way back before 2010. I don't think I had even made it to high school around then, and ended up switching to world of warcraft until it was time to join the work force after college. Never did get the "Charge!" skill, but at least I managed to defeat the doppelganger.
It's a real shame Blood Magic ended up the way it is due to PvP balance. Although I did play bloodspike with my guild back in the day and it was fun. I thought of a solution to it though. Rework the monk skill "Spell Shield. Enchantment Spell. For 1...7...9 seconds the next time target ally is the target of a hostile spell, that ally cannot be the target of any further spells of the same attribute." This one change to an otherwise useless monk spell would be THE counter to most spell based spike teams.
I have to agree wholeheartedly with you on this. My thoughts when I first heard the reason without seeing any of the backstory was about General resources, not just food. I thought that the universe is a massive place with lots of unpopulated planets. If we have space travel that allows us to get to other systems, like in the MCU, there is zero chance we would run out of resources. Yeah, if planet locked. But not as life. There are plenty of other reasons a sentient race may exterminate themselves. Resources seems to be low on the list. You had really good points and I agree with them all.

The times I'd be most likely able to watch streams are mon-fri any time after 5pm GMT. But even then can't say I will watch just depends how busy I am!
I think I just deleted my comment, sigh, double post of it's just slow to arrive. As you asked for times, euro evenings I'd be more likely to be able to interact with you - as you said, 6-8pm GMT start is good.
I appreciate the effort to help, but I'm not having connection issues with the game, I'm having connection issues between my computer and Twitch for the original stream. At this point, I have a suspicion about what's causing it, so hopefully addressing that will fix it.
I found getting a 2nd account was enjoyable. You really forget how it is to start from scratch, and you get a 'fresh start' experience! Enjoy the game all over again. Looking forward meeting your new characters :)
As a former minion master main I have some takes about the animate spells. Also only take 2 plus your elite. Bone fiend: take every damage. These are your work horse dps minions. Only one I wouldn’t take this on are melee minion masters which are pretty gimmicky. Bone horror: Sadly outclassed by other minions. Bone Minions: Great “tank” skill. Provides a ton of target saturation and their low hp draws attacks often. Good for complementing a front line when there is not a lot of cleave. Excellent on heroes because they rarely hit cap. Do not use before you get 12 natural death magic as they tend to clog you up while leveling. Shambling Horror: the tall front line minion. Just the opposite of bone minions. Also great for heroes because they are bad at maintaining a full stack. Vampiric horror: Only really good for melee minion masters or builds that have a large amount of hp cost skills. They are hp over time not a reliable source of healing. Aura of the Lich/Flesh golem: flesh golem is amazing and you can maintain him. He’s a beefy wall and tends to draw aggro. Aura of the Lich is great for creating a front line. CANNOT run with bone minions. Overall they’re all pretty good. The only “bad” one is bone horror and that’s because it’s pretty middle of the pack.
1:10:00 About bunny thumper. Have you seen the movie Dune? A sandworm is lured by the vibrations of a thumper device. But in this case to bring a bunny into movement, I guess.
Backfire only lasts 10 seconds. Think of Mistrust like a Backfire that only triggers once, but stops the spell and hits in an AoE when it does. I appreciate you leaving comments and watching, by the way! :)
'Guilt' "Target foe's next spell fails and you steal 5...12...14 Energy. No effect unless this foe's spell targets one of your allies." So, yes when it targets an ally of you.😉
22:20 'Conjure Nightmare/-Phantasm', maybe not the best skill, but I used it with a elementalist/mesmer, because elementalists have a bigger energy pool. It's so much fun to see your opponent melt away. 😁
The apply condition attack skills should do +X damage if the hit target is already suffering from that condition, (e.g.) Dismember, Staggering Blow, Sever Artery, Barbed Spear.
Well, I took less than three episodes for me to redownload the game and start playing myself. LOL! I spent a vast majority of my time in Alliance Battles as a 12 year old though, so I have a ton of PvE content to work through. Do you ever find out any of the lore behind the Flame Temple Corridor (1:08:30)? I eat UP lore, so I'm loving your play through.The Searing traumatized me partially because I felt robbed of seeing the beautiful version of Ascalon, and I too felt there were places I wanted answers for. I actually hated the Searing so much I skipped that campaign for years and played Factions instead, then finished it out when I could travel to Lions ARCH, NOT GATE LOL. Dramatic! 😂
Good thinking! I have my own issues with Elden Ring, enemy variety hasn't been one (consciously at any rate). This is something of an aha moment. Good thinking.

I don't want to sound like spoiled brat, but I do miss the Faction Allegiance skills in the review. Maybe it's added in the profession skill reviews, because it's only 10x1 profession skills? However, I don't think it is in there, (I've not seen it in the Elementalist review).
I think I did somewhere? I don't recall off the top of my head anymore at this point, though. I did this quite a while ago. I have mixed feelings about them. I don't like messing with attribute ranks like a bunch of them do. I did super enjoy hunting them down, though! That period of discovery was fantastic, and made me really wish we could get more content for Guild Wars 1 regularly. To share current thoughts: Seven Weapons Stance: Extremely powerful, opens up some interesting options. I appreciate that it includes an attack speed buff. I think I'd rate it about a 4 for me? "Together as One!": Probably overpowered, but I don't mind throwing Rangers a bone. Pretty universally usable, too, so probably 4-5 territory. Heroic Refrain: The worst-designed of the anniversary skills. Very powerful, but extremely tedious to actually play with. It should just apply it to all allies in earshot when used or something to avoid the tedium of having to apply it to everyone. I have no idea what to rate it...it's extremely powerful, but you also have to build around it sufficiently to maintain it, so it kinda bounces around a 2 (build-around skills; not inherently bad) and a 5 (the most overpowered stuff that makes you not use anything else). Judgment Strike: This is very middling, though I do quite like it. It plays well on secondary Monks with melee weapons where the effect is, in my opinion, acceptable. Probably around a 3? Over the Limit: This solves zero of Ele's problems and feels like a gross misunderstanding of the state of the profession (at least in my opinion). I'd rate it a 2, as the recharge buff gives it some interesting build-around possibilities, though nothing all that strong. It does affect all spells, so it has some possible applications with secondaries. Shadow Theft: I love that this is a lead attack, and the fact that it's a skill is nice (so anti-spell skills like Spellbreaker can't stop it). I think I'd probably give it around a 4-5, though I'm not entirely sure where. Assassins can get away with not needing an elite (Death Blossom too stronk), which makes this a solid default option. Soul Taker: As a build-around-me, this is a classic 2. Has some interesting synergies, but having to reapply enchantments is tedious. I've heard Soul Taker builds can be really strong, but I honestly haven't dabbled with it that much. Time Ward: Probably a 3? The effect is meaningful, but nowhere near good enough to displace Energy Surge, Panic, or one of the other powerful Mesmer elites. It doesn't open up any interesting build opportunities, either, it just makes current builds work better. Might be a 1 because the Ebon Vanguard skill Ebon Battle Standard of Wisdom is probably just better and doesn't take your elite slot. Vow of Revolution: I like this skill a lot (the design is really intriguing and gets the buildcrafting juices flowing). It's a 2. I do like it with dagger spam, since it's more fire-and-forget than Zealous Vow and doesn't require investment in wind prayers, but that's more a sidegrade than an upgrade realistically speaking. It's kind of a solution in search of a problem, unfortunately. It's probably great on a D/Rt healer (like Ether Prodigy is on E/Rt healer), but most players want to play offense. Weapons of Three Forges: This is fun, but probably around a 3? It's too chaotic to really be good. It does synergize nicely with minions and poorly with any other weapon spells on the team. I don't think it's quite the build-around-me status of a 2? It doesn't feel quite as bad as a 1? It's a bit hard to evaluate. I love the idea, though!

2:07:14 When you talk about 'Sunspear Rebirth Signet', there are items that give a morale boost (like Pumpkin Cookies). That makes this signet a bit easier to re-use.
I wish Anet did a expansion for Factions and Nightfall. When you play the game for a while you see that this game is unfinished. There's stuff missing. Nice sword btw. Looks sharp. 😉 Can't remember that I've seen it before.
I just recently played through all the campaigns and am still hunting some points for HoM and came across this video. I played throught it for the lore mostly before diving in GW2 and loved the notes you made!
