I had noticed that about the 6 Reborn Artist hand made dolls I bought for $500=$1000. The paint on them was starting to come off. Some of the paint on the dolls started coming off after a few weeks. That is why I decided to sell them and not buy super expensive Artist dolls. I also can not afford to buy them anymore. I now only buy copy Reborns and Barbie dolls and Barbie size dolls.

I love reborns but have a limit of what I can spend. The most I have ever spent is $300 on one. I buy what speaks to me so yes I buy on emotions but this is how I buy all my dolls. I never put dolls on hold if I don't have the money to straight out buy it I don't get it.
Yes, it is a hobby that has a great emotional component. Every sculpt “speaks” differently to individual collectors. The ART is important as well but only in the sense that it evokes the collector’s emotions or feelings. I personally think if a doll, wether it be a high priced authentic or a low priced replica, brings the collector comfort, joy or a sense of peace, then that doll is therapeutic. Even if you purchase a 10 thousand dollar silicone doll just to look at, and looking at it makes you feel something (hopefully something good with boosted Serotonin levels) isn’t that therapeutic? I think baby dolls were originally created to teach children how to love and care for others. Somewhere down the line those lessons were lost in the Reborn doll community.

Yes, this is an emotional hobby for sure, but still, my collection is very much governed by my budget. No matter how much I want a doll, if it’s out of my budget, it’s not coming into my house. I guess for me, that’s where replicas come in. I’ve also managed to score some pretty good deals on authentic dolls, with my most expensive reborn being under $300, and even that was a stretch. As usual, great video.

I have wanted to paint reborns since I found out about them In 2003. Money issues have kept me from It. But also the reborn community gives me hives. Luckily I have four or five dolls I plan to make Myself And some gifts to a couple friends. But I know to be practical I should eventually paint some to see if I can recoup some Of The money I’m putting in to do my own dolls. I’m still having fun painting for the fun of it but omg lol the community does stess me Out!

@@Springflower002thankyou! you should totally try too some time! To me it’s a lot like panting Easter eggs. I started with the cheap folk art paints but I want my end product to be as light fast as possible , so after going back and forth with myself I ordered basic set of paints with archival lightfast quality ratings. Still I have already spent about as much as a whole finished replica doll costs just on supplies.but it’s totally worth it for The experience of painting. I have only Painted about five layers on on my first doll but I’m like 70% sure I’ve got the basic knowledge to be successful but we will see. I will definatly Be posting in our dolly groups soon about it.
You are sooo right..its the nature of the business if the artist doesn't get their work copyrighted then THEY are to blame. And yes, There no about of screaming you can do to stop it ! That statement tickled me! Anyway, I really enjoy watching your channel. Hugs from Alabama!

Your videos are always so uplifting, and your honesty shines through. I want to say how much I appreciate that you aren't foul-mouthed and don't speak ill of others because that is a real turn-off.
The shame of it all is that there is no need for the reborn community to be divided. It could be a happy flourishing place if some people stopped living on drama. Just about every popular doll has a replica (unless properly protected) & it's been that way since forever. How many people did these replicas introduce to the reborn world that likely would've never known it existed without them, that have now become authentic collectors? (most likely in the thousands) How many children gifted replicas will grow up to want to step up to authentic? There just is no need for the nonsense. You're right Spring, it's a very emotional hobby. Many artists (not all by any means) take advantage of that. smh Here's a crazy thing........replicas outshine artist reborns in the "wear & tear" dept. I am dying to know how & what manufacturers paint their dolls with because decades later it's still there.....and we all know children aren't exactly easy on their dolls. I have my Crissy doll that is over 50 yrs old & she doesn't look any different paint wise from when she first came out of the box & I can testify I was NOT the least bit gentle with her over all those years. lol I'm not putting down the artist in the slightest, it's just a fact of life.

I believe the more you acknowledge anything, be it negative or positive you give life to it. Imo and ijs Enjoy the Hobby, your channel(s), you have the power within your fingertips (i.e. block, delete) You don't like something, change the channel instead of trying to conform someone or something to what you like or don't like.

When you hear the daily news, it's generally filled with so much negatively, it gets into you, it brings you down. They hardly relay good, and I guess it's because people aren't interested, they like the madness, I could go on and on, I just want to be happy, I enjoy your Joyful expressions, seeing the doll's....
Hey sis I will be straight up with you. I have no clue on kits. All I know is that I buy a doll based on its expression on the face. Will it fit in with my camp. Will it inspire a story character. I use my dolls as a way to inspire me as an artist. That is why I got into this hobby. I had to put my passion on hold of filmmaking. I was caring for my mom. As a caretaker you don't have much time for yourself. This is a fun way to tell stories through photography. Great talk Sis. 👍❤️👍
Always love listening to your chats and seeing your wonderful babies. Let's not forget how Alternatives were or still not acceptable. It is hard for us because most people don't understand. For me the thought and art that goes into making something so different, from your mind's eye is fascinating. The weirder the better. However I don't like a lot of blood and gore. Zombies, Vampires, Fairies etc. love them.

I agree completely. And especially if they remind me of a child in my life whether it’s is my child or a child that has been special to me. Lol. I love these babies. But I couldn’t afford them back in the day so I learned to paint. Even then it isnt a cheap hobby. But I just love them. About to make Luca to look like my son as a little fella. ❤

Honestly flower girl im bored stupid with the back and forth ....block delete is your friend . And there's always a space to sell anything eBay is always your friend as long as you disclose shiz . Im honestly beyond done with the clout chasers the permanent victims and back biting bullshit . Collect your dolls be happy . Hi Shells Yup! There’s absolutely no back and forth going on here. This is just a topic about how Emotional this hobby really is when it comes to collecting these pretty precious baby dolls, and also a reflection of the pros and cons that came with being a collector of these particular type of dolls over the years😊 As most already know I am the Queen of block delete and move on, but I’m also the queen of just speaking the truth and speaking up for some that may not have a voice. And for Sharing awesome stuff, in our doll community like Blind’s Babies Creating a Cool website 💕Also when we have our own platforms, we can definitely discuss and Share what’s on our minds, in our hobby. Which is why I don’t get all offended when someone makes a video that I don’t necessarily agree with. What I’ve learned to do, is take everything with a grain a salt, and keep it pushing, speak on what I’d like to speak on, support and have fun with my doll friends, and continue to just share and have fun with all my Dolls in my Fabulous Hobby😊💕
