On the idler pulleys, I drill out the spot welds/rivets take the 2 halves apart replace the bearing (usually a 6203) about $12-14. Or buy on line for about $2 each. I buy 10 at a time. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to replace the bearing. Where you save money is the next time the bearing needs to be replaced, takes about 15 minutes to remove from mower, replace bearing replace on mower done. Much cheaper than paying $15-30 for a whole new pulley. Just a suggestion. I had a Craftsman GT 5000. A very good machine. 25 horsepower Kohler 6 speed manual transmission.
Seeing the rip in the snow while it was 100 degrees here in Pennsylvania was really awesome. Really great video my friend. $300 is a fairly decent price....where are you located?
It really is a nice one, especially for its age! I’m going to miss this thing and how it sounds but I have big plans in the future so stay tuned! Thank you for watching as always!
That Wheel Horse will be around working long after you and I are gone! The Kolher K series are bulletproof one of the best engines ever built I have a 1967 comando 8 , a c120 and a c141
I found mine on eBay:www.ebay.com/itm/156144981565?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=O5HOtN-ESdW&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=dmoj_e1qsu2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Hope that helps and thank you for watching!
tear the motor down, and gribd a few thousantd off of the lifters, lap the valves. those cam lobes dont tend to spin of the shaft. ive been through hundresd of these and thats your problem. valve lash is off on a flathead. if you go to far, weld on the tappet and grind it to spec again
Honestly life just got busy and I’ve had no time to work on this thing, but I really hope to get back to it soon so I can ride it this summer. Thank you for watching!
@specialt9744 Yeah, verry understandable, I'd love to see it finished and I'm pretty sure many others would too! But yeah a project like that's alot of work and time. Thanks for the reply, and have a good one!
Unfortunately I sold this machine a while ago but if I had to guess I would say underneath the battery tray, I hope that helps and thank you for watching!
sweet! whats that oppy on the ground at 2:55 for? And the oil leak could be from the oil filter, i had one start leaking from an old filter. Still a good idea to reseal the sump, but a new filter cant hurt.
I’m thinking with a little forced induction that oppy would do great wheelies… unfortunately this mower had a leaking sump and crank seal so I ended up doing all the gaskets and seals on the bottom end. Thank you for watching!
Good Morning! i Love watching your videos. Love your attention to all of the details. nothing better than drinking a mug of hot chocolate and watching your Awesome videos. i needed to buy a drive belt for my old troybuilt lawn tractor, but i could not find the right belt online, so i took the old belt off and meausred it and then bought a new belt at my nearest tractor supply store. have a Blessed and Great day and week. :)
i just bought one of these and some wires disconnected and i cannot figure out what they went to, think i could get a few pictures off you of some connections?
Unfortunately I sold this tractor a while ago. I’d say your best bet is to try and find a picture off google or try and trace the wires back to see where they go, hope that helps. Thank you for watching!
Could be the cam but it's more likely in my experience that it was overheated and the valve seats walked into the block or the guides walked out. You already put more into that mower in parts than its worth. (Was a power equipment tech for a decade until last year)
Take apart wat u need to, in order to get wat u need cleaned or replaced, and slap it back together, i hold an appreciation for anything that runs, and hate to see u put so much effort in to make it nice, only to get road blocked, if u got the time go for it!
That is one neat tractor! Just curious, did you do anything to make both wheels spin at the same time? Like a limited slip? What kind of exhaust do you use? It sounds good. I was going to run my Murray without mufflers, but it was way to loud for that. Kohler V twin 25 horsepower.
Thanks man! I left the transaxle alone and just put oil in it so no limited slip. Also I put the stock “headers” on backwards and just cut and welded them into 2.5 inch exhaust pipe that comes out each side. Thank you for watching!
I have a suggestion that you could put on it but you would need to make some sort of homemade intake which is taking a Briggs & Stratton V-Twin and add the turbo to that
Good Evening! Love your attention to the details. the turbo is a Awesome idea. i would put the turbo set up in a box for storage for now until you put it on another mower sometime. :)
There’s no reference pressure on the waste gate to open it. I would connect a hose between the fitting on the waste gate to the intake pipe between the turbo and carb, then adjust from there
Any motor should last that long if it’s maintained even though many still don’t, but this kohler is definitely impressive. I’m mainly not a fan of the newer kohlers. Thank you for watching!
