Just curious, what engine are you planning for this project? I have a 40 inch cut Murry I put a Kohler Pro 25 horsepower V twin engine on it wasn't too difficult, though the pulley for the mower deck was the biggest problem. I took apart a bad PTO to use the lower piece to drive the mower deck. I had 3 pieces, the upper pulley, had it welded to the lower piece I took off the PTO, then the pulley from the Briggs engine. The weld job looks bad but the pulley runs true and the mower works great. Tall grass, thick grass doesn't matter, it has the power to cut any grass. However I use a duel exhaust system instead of the one muffler , it's a little louder, but it sounds ok and not too loud.😊
I have a 17.5 Briggs and Stratton single cylinder I’m going to put on it with a few minor mods. That Murray sounds like a lot of fun. I bet it makes mowing much easier too!
