Yeah, that's true if you're referring to making behind-the-bar chords. If you want to make regular fretted chords, it's ideal. Thanks for watching the video!
Thanks so much for the kind comment, and glad you dig these! I'll definitely be posting a new fingerprinting vid in the next couple of weeks. Cheers! 🙌🏻
@@TheMightyOrq Great stuff. Have dusted off my Michael Messer resonator since discovering your channel. Your 5 minute tutorials are a fantastic format and just what I needed to get out of a prolonged rut. (I have read other similar comments on your channel) No-one else on RU-vid is breaking down really cool blues riffs for slide as well as you.
So excited I found your lessons! I've been an acoustic blues guy for years and play lap steel also but never owned or played a bottle neck type slide until now. At first it seemed crazy awkward. Having found your cool little lessons broken up into doable parts and I'm already getting goose bumps! Very soulful playing my man! tom in Maine.
Hey, thank you for the kind comment, Tom! I'm so glad you're enjoying the lessons, and glad they're working for you. Ain't acoustic blues grand?! Sending kind regards from Texas. Hope you keep digging the vids, and playing that fine music. Cheers! - Orq
Hey, thanks so much, Ronnie! Yeah, RU-vid makes it easier to distill the info of what, in the old days, would've been a 30-minute lesson down to the nitty gritty. Glad this is helpful, and thanks for the kind comment. Cheers!
That's certainly fair, although idk how old the idea is. I'd love to know of some older slides that incorporate this bar/ring idea if you know of any off hand. Inanyevent, it is certainly up to personal taste whether one likes and uses the Jetslide or no. Thanks for watching and commenting, and happy sliding to you.
Thanks for the comment, Armando. I compare both a jetslide and a conventional slide on acoustic and electric guitars around timecode 3:34. Additionally, there is a Part 2 if you want more info. Hope this helps, and happy slide playing.
Hey Mister Mighty Orq, glad you dig King Dollar. I played bass on that album with Paul, Andy and Brian. Paul is a genius slide player and singer and it was an unbelievable experience to play behind Paul. Live shows blow the album away. The tunes went long, full of twists and turns, huge dynamic shifts, and interplay between instruments. It was some of the best music I ever made. You grabbed onto Paulie’s Nightmare - you felt the scariness!
Holy macaroni, dude! What a joy and an honor to hear from you. Thank you for the kind compliment. It means the world to me! That record was a huge influence on me as a kid, and to this day is, in my opinion, one of the great roots/blues albums of the last 40 years. Thanks so for this message, man. I'm blown away!
Oh, one other thing: if you're around this evening at 6:30pm central time, I'll be doing a live stream on this channel. Will definitely include Paulie's Little Noghtmare in the early part of the setlist. Thanks again, man. Cheers!
@@TheMightyOrq - Have you figured out any other tunes from King Dollar? It is a great album but too bad the House of Blues Music label was shutdown by their parent label. I won’t make it tonight because I’m traveling. Have a great show.
Man, it's been a while since I listened to the album, actually. But now I'm gonna go back and see what I can figure out. Safe travels to you, and please give any and all interested parties my very best regards. Cheers, and thanks so much again for saying hi!
I actually got a promo copy of the record in '95. Saw it in a few record stores in Houston and Austin, but yeah, when HOB records folded... 🤷♂️🤦 Oh, the music business.
Thanks.just trying to get into this stuff. Thanks for keeping it short.Really…as a guitar teacher that’s what you do so the students have only one thing or two to concentrate on. Left and right handd
That's odd, I thought it was pretty clear. Maybe check around the 3:55 mark for a clear demo. Also, I made a second video that may even more clearly demonstrate how to use the slide. The link is below, and if you skip ahead to about 7:10, it should give a pretty clear example of what it is and how to wear it. Hope this helps. I know learning slide can be frustrating sometimes, but keep it up, and you'll be shredding in no time. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GKqxwh-XKNY.htmlsi=RFvq93RUPJe83B1s
Yeah it can be a little tricky if you're not used to it. It's one of those things ya gotta keep working with. Just like anything, I suppose. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Cheers!

@@TheMightyOrq I did!! and super informative..a story you might find interesting....I got the jet slide because of you, many moons ago, but it got shelved for other things...but I found myself wanting that quick change of regular to slide..I dug around and finally found the damn thing..but had no inclination how to operate it..I actually just punched in to google "how to use the jet slide" and up pops the mighty orq!! Serendipity baby!! Lots of love
