My goal for this channel is to help bass fisherman catch more fish, and make better fishing tackle at home. I do this by sharing my fishing and tackle making knowledge through my experiences during tournaments, through tutorials, and by making baits myself.

If you don’t get the hook as hot when you dip it in the paint, you wouldn’t have as many clogging the eye up. Shouldn’t look shiny as soon as you dip it should be shiny after you bake
Yeah. I just haven’t been fishing San Diego a ton so far this year. Normally I’m fishing at home more. With summer starting I’ll have more time to get out there.
I was pulled over 4 times in one weekend at Mead one year. It gets annoying sometimes. I even got pulled over just for the officer to say I hope you don’t think we’re trying to harass you 😂
Lol. That is a lot in one weekend! It doesn’t bother me too much unless it’s on a tournament day, then I’m pissed. I pay a lot of money to fish that event and the last thing I want is to be stopped in the middle of my day
@@MattLunaFishing yeah that’s a major killer if you’re on a good bite. I even got pulled over at the Hoover dam, the guy said coming from California? Hmm, smells like marijuana in the car. I said really dude I’m not that guy, showed him my credentials and was on my way. Some people’s children 🤦♂️
@@MattLunaFishing yeah! He was getting mad, he asked if I could roll down the back window, I said I can try, I had all my luggage back there and I was in my wife’s Wrangler with manual windows. He was appalled that I didn’t have power windows in a 2018 vehicle.
I would disagree. Boils down to opinion, but they’ve been adding exclusive colors and have put in new baits before public release. No one else is doing that to my knowledge.
You can put pretty small hooks in if you are up to modifying the mold. If you leave it as is, the rule of thumb is generally 1 or 2 sizes down from what it calls for
Thank you for the very concise and useful information. Doing some research with my youngest son (15), as he has a goal of making tackle and sharing his fishing journey with people. He fishes every day for several hours. If he's not doing chores or school work, he's fishing. He loves both fresh and saltwater. I figured he might as well chase that goal/dream while he is young - never know what it might turn in to.
If someone wants to get a TASTE of this world, jig-making is a good place to start…to see if you dig the concept. I’ve been tying my own jigs for a few years now and it’s great. I’ve stumbled into three or four great patterns that I know are unique to me. The nice thing is, you can go as simple or crazy as you want. You can spend $50 on some bands/skirts/tools…you can do what I ended up doing and use a fly tying vise to get super precise control of your colors and flash then install your own weed guards. Then there’s the next step beyond that, which is stuff like jig/plastic pouring. It’s kind of the ultimate within that world…but it takes an investment and a pretty significant amount of personal R&D, as it were.
If i remember correctly the poison tail calls for a 28 degree hook. Some 30 degree will work but some won’t. I don’t remember the hook i used in this video
@DinsmoreOutdoors i don’t have a video on that. For a wire keeper i place it in the spot i want, gently close the mold. Then bang it with a mallet until the mold closes completely
