I have lot of interests and like to try my hand at a lot of things. Cars, trucks, engines, repairs, watches, photography. Pretty much anything that gets my attention. I like vintage if possible.
Nice vid. After watching YTs regarding the heat output of the 502, I was concerned about its ability to perc a decent amount of Joe. You have allayed my fears. Thx!
Interesting. I noticed the description in the book says "day in English for the morning hours and in Spanish for the afternoon hours." My 7548-700 F (blue dial, 1981) stays in English or Spanish morning and afternoon, unless I manually switch the language from Spanish to English.
What book is that? Correct display is either one or the other all day. You can choose the display language or symbol, depending upon which language you watch has, but it is supposed to show one all day until the change over. I still love these watches!
Yes they are brilliant watches. I still have my GM 5600B 3er from new, bought it as a spare. Never worn it, modified it with black metal strap components from the States. Should get at least 8 years out of the battery but they are so easy to change.
Hey I bought one of these from you! The second 700F you showed from March of 1981, I purchased it on Ebay in November of 2022. I thought it looked familiar, sure enough its the same serial number!
In the 90's, I would buy a new G-Shock about every two years and throw the old watch in the trash. Always the black square model. The plastic band would get squeaky and brittle and then break.
6 years ago I purchased a refurbished 850 for my then 9 year old son. I got it for a deal on eBay it arrived with a ding on the wood and the seller was a stand up guy and refunded I think it was $200 off of the sale price making it an even better deal. I want to say I paid 5 or $600 before the discount. I then found myself a 750 on Craigslist 4 yrs ago in awesome survivor condition for $200. I just added a Bluetooth module to it and it was ready to go. I use it as my daily. Still works great! I really prefer the 80 series black VU meters but I could never find a deal on one. I’ll just keep searching.
Folks who work on the watches they collect will often purchase "related" watches...which is to say models in a given line that share a significant percentage of parts. The 940/946 pairing share about 85% of the parts in common, giving the collector an "edge" should something ontoward happen from an accident or mishap. Hamiltons and Illinois are huge go-to-s for collectors, just like they were for the Railroad industry 100 years ago. Beautiful pieces. Oh......did I mention I have two 940-s? Good thing I don't have a bias, right? 😂😂😂
Rule of thumb. When it comes to changing a 3volt lithium battery you never touch the battery with your fingers. It drains the power dramatically. Always use tweezers.
Beautiful, l love the VU meters. I have a SX636, and 1250 (which are now being refurbished for 450 USD/1000USD respectively, but are complete refurbishments). Pioneer were producing these quality receivers, which had so much quality. Forty plus years later they still hold up well.
There's a six digit serial number on the watch. The first two numbers signify the year and month respectively. They were made between 1978-85, so it's not possible to confuse the year with another. For Oct, Nov, Dec, the number is replaced by a O, N or D for the first letter of the month. Mine is from May 1983, so the serial number is 35.... For December 1978 it would be 8D.... Hope that helps.
Have the 780 and I love it. Nice warm sounds, even the Pioneer DX 563 dvd player sounds nice and rounded on it. Much more power for my little bedroom than I need…oh well.
I must confess that i have thrown them in the trash when the battery died! Just went out and got a new one as they USED to be cheap and amazing value for money! Its a timeless classic ,no pun intended! I still have the 5600c and somehow that escaped the rubbish bin ,thankfully-
The 7548-7000 was the first watch that I bought myself in Jan 1985. It's a June 84 serial number, it's never been serviced and still keeps better time than the rest of my watches. Only wish I could get an original strap for it.
SkilCraft GP cleaner, Simple Green, and milspec pine oil. The holy trinity of military cleaning. Some smells stick with you. Oh, don't forget the greet scrub pads... Ugh! I hate it when shippers destroy your stuff!!! Hope the big 426 was unscathed. This repair is a testament to how well these were designed. Though the ones of this vintage went a little to far with their energy absorbing crumple zones for my taste, they are a lot easier to straighten out. Haha! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a runner! Perfect output. Nice work.
