That Isles Caps game seven from 2015 was the most painful game I’ve ever watched. I was at a viewing party at my synagogue. We had a TV set up and there were about 15 people there. They were absolutely dominated from start to finish and it very easily could’ve been a blowout. They were lucky they only lost 2-1. They were outshot 26-11. Even now as we enter 2023 it’s still brings me a lot of pain to watch clips from that game. Especially the fact that the Capitals were the team that closed Nassau Coliseum. We would’ve faced the Rangers in round two. April 27, 2015 was a very difficult day for all Islanders fans.
islanders are such a great story. they make the playoffs for the first time in a long time, then they kinda fall off, lose their captain. but just when everyone thought they were dead they picked themselves up, got to the playoffs in a division spot and swept the penguins in the playoffs. even tho they lost to the canes in the 2nd round, they went on to have 2 semi final appearances over the next 2 years, they even took tampa to game 7 in the semi finals, the only team to do better than the isles against tampa was colorado in the last playoffs. the great news is they are doing better than the rangers and that stanley cup window is wide open for them, the team is literally built for playoffs. but as we saw last year, that doesnt matter if you dont make the playoffs.
I am do glad the. Islanders hired. Lane. Lambert to coach this upcoming season 😃 close as we could get to. Barry. Trotz who I will always love. And he brings the new voice without a drastic Apple cart rock. S fresh and more offensive minded attitude with out losing the years of bring defensive minded first. That. Barry worked as hard as the players teaching. Excellent choice. Lou now you know the rest of the plan going forward next season as well as I do 😊 we believe in you my. Paisano. Lou. Let's get em all. Kick lots of arse and show this league, respectfully if you don't like it stick it where the sun don't shine. The. Cup, in 2023 goes through. New York and stays there 🏆 where it belongs 🗽congratulations. Lane you earned it ...been here since season 1 Al. Arbour #1 (always) Barry. Trots # 2. Lane make it come true in my all time favorite coaches ,# 3... We can do this ,and you know this
Funny to see the seats full in American rinks and empty in Canadian rinks because of covid. Canadian health car is paid by the government and they don't want to overburden the health care system. Americans are private and don't give a shit.
Even though they didn’t win a cup this year I still consider this to be one of my favorite islanders teams I call them “The Miracle Islanders” because they were supposed to be a “bad” team. The stories that this team brought up like Robin Lehner, Barry Trotz turn around, the defense, sweeping the Pens, winning their first game back at the coli, etc. It was truly a miraculous season.
I have a feeling the return to Fort Neverlose is gonna be a mini era in Isles history. Regular deep playoff runs, the team being a well oiled machine… and it almost all seemed to fall apart they moment they moved into UBS.
