@@Russkafin yeah it was great also met Kane Hodder Henry Thomes Lenore Zann who voice Rogue Cal Dodd Who voice Wolverine Tony Moran who Michael Myers in the original 1978 Halloween Movie both Bathroom Girls From Scream And Veronica Taylor who voice Ash Ketchum on Pokémon
I never really paid attention to Birds of Prey, dealing with real life at the time, but I can see now how jarring theme 2 could be. It doesn't really fit, does it?
I cannot find Alison Sealy-Smith's redub of S1 Storm anywhere. It's no disrespect to Iona Morris, but I want Sealy-Smith's S1 storm. Her scenes on Genosha in S1 were amazingly touching.
@@tangled55 Hi friend. If you purchase X-Men season one on Fandango At Home (formerly Vudu), Alison’s Storm is in almost all the episodes. The only one I noticed that was not redubbed was the very first one, Night of the Sentinels part one. I’m actually not sure if Alison ever redubbed that episode as I’ve never seen that one with her voice. But all the other eps in season one are Alison on Fandango at Home I believe.
"No Mutant is an Island" could've been out sourced to a team thats nevered worked on the show before. Imagine if it was that studios debut on Xmen. Im Not saying it was, maybe tho
Great video! Was hoping to see mention of the cut dialogue from the original airing of “Night of the Sentinels” that made Storm seem more more aloof. Example: After Rogue says “What bug crawled up her shorts?”, Storm’s reply was “I believe it’s called ‘youth’, Rogue.” The edit removes the line but the “gue” sound is still if you listen carefully
lol I'm not sure if you're kidding or not but it's okay if you didn't watch the original! But, if you liked X-Men '97 then the good news is there's a whole lot more content you can go back and watch now! :)
@@Russkafin Not kidding actually, I thought X-men 97 was a remake of the og cartoon and not a sequel. I really didn't look it up at all xD, I remember watching the cartoon as a kid and enjoyed it, but I don't remember much of it.
Love the first two Superman movies. I've seen both versions of the second one and I have to say that I prefer the Richard Lester version (the one that aired in theaters). It just all fits together better, IMO. Maybe it would be different if Richard Donner had been with the production of the second one from beginning to end (he was fired early in production because his relationship with the Salkinds was very strained, to say the least). The Richard Donner version that is available on digital media was somewhat cobbled together from what was available, rather than being an actual definitive version with all the scenes filmed by Donner.
@@Russkafin The whole tale of how the first two movies got made is a movie in itself, but I have to say the end result (at least for the first two) was worth it. I don't know what they were thinking with Superman III. It's as if they said to themselves, "Hey, why don't we take all the things that made the first two really great and get rid of them? Inject some really stupid juvenile comedy and see where it goes?" I was and am a big Richard Pryor fan, but he was a terrible choice for that movie.
There were many corrections for the series over the years. Some where dialogue where one I stance the line was ”the term rec-room does not mean you must wreck the room”
That is a very deep cut my friend! There was another actress hired for Storm BEFORE Iona Morris who was a white voice actress. As far as I know her version of the voice acting was never released anywhere. Iona Morris was the replacement for that actress and was the "original" as far as what actually aired. Then Alison Sealy-Smith replaced Iona for the reasons explained in this video. There is a CBR article about it as well: www.cbr.com/x-men-animated-series-storm/
I had watched the original version of "No Mutant is an Island" via Disney+. Now that I see the revised version side-by-side, I kind of like the original version more. The characters look a bit... overdone(?) in the reanimated version. Might have to obtain a copy of the Disney+ master for myself 👀
@@Russkafin If anything, I'd say the revised version did a much better job with the backgrounds. I'd be happy if they put the original character animation over the revised background art 😅
I taped these off tv during the original airing and watched them many times. So for a lot of these, I really remember the original versions. The replacement Storm for the first season is so weird. I think I lost interest after the second season, but for a little while I was obsessed.
This is fascinating. I only knew of the Gladiator voice change 8:07 I recognise the animation style on the left from the Fantastic Four 90s animated series. That studio had some very awkward-looking animation.
I remember the original Night of the Sentinels VHS had many omissions and animation errors. One that stood out to me was in the final battle against the Sentinels. There are 3 sentinels hounding Jubilee. Cyclops destroys two of them, tries to take down the third one, and then the episode abruptly cuts to a shot of that same sentinel seemingly destroyed. Later revisions would add the extra shot of the eye beam actually hitting that third sentinel.
Another interesting tidbit: the 1993 Polygram VHS releases of the original episodes already had Sinister's voice redone for the season 1 finale. But when the rights went to Universal in the 2000s, they re-released that episode on VHS, but it had Sinister's original voice instead.
Isn't it crazy that the "corrected" version is harder to find? The only place I know for sure is if you buy the episode on Fandango At Home (formerly Vudu), it's the Chris Britton voice
The 1991 version was uploaded on youtube by the Garfield & Friends youtube channel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TbL-uxd4ZVw.htmlsi=E5JJn6BESogoaNEO
Having just rewatched the entire series on DVD, No Mutant Is An Island was very confusing. Jean was just alive in the previous episode, when did she die? I had to read an explanation of where in the story it was supposed to take place. The animation was noticeably different, it was extremely distracting.
Wow, that's some really scummy shit they pulled on Storm's original voice actor. Especially re-dubbing season one to loop-hole out of paying her residuals.
I love traditional animation and know how insanely tough it is but AKOM's animation department was just god awful. The fact Nelson Shin went from doing Transformers the Movie to this just blows my mind. Yes it TV vs movie but you watch a daily cartoon made my TMS and then watch a AKOM produced one and it's just insane how much the quality drops. Shin must have just picked up any cheap animator he could or gave them such insanely tight deadline this is the best they could do...or both, but yikes.
I haven't thought of this show in a while. This video reminds me of how badly they fumbled the DVD releases. Most episodes had really bad frame blending, and some seemingly random episodes were sped up PAL versions for some reason. I remember being really into the show at the time from the Jetix reruns and being very disappointed by the DVDs. I wonder if there's a better way to watch it now.
can you look into birds of prey (2020)? i could have sworn the theatrical release has an additional scene where harley gets her hyenas from that scumbag that was a bit more risque.
