Thanks man! What are you trading in for this WRX? If you're coming from an STI I may think twice but if you're new to subie platform it's an awesome car to jump in and go!
According to who? TBH, we're not really thinking about it at all. Im too busy changing my oil, watching my DAM drop, checking my coolant for bubbles, and trying to decide which clutch I want to burn up next.
Mexico is getting the WRX Sport Wagon. Besides the name the WRX Sport Wagon and Levorg are the same. WRX Sport Wagon is the name in Australia and Mexico. Levorg is the name in Japan. However in Japan, the Levorg can come with a smaller 1.6L turbo engine.
this is kind of exciting, my nephew has been looking at liberty wagons and early 2000 foresters like my 04XT after going for a drive in it. knowing these are in australia may change things, not sure if he'll be interested in an auto though. either way, cheers for the update.
Spec wise, how different are cars in Canada from the U.S.? Some of us might be willing to buy the new WRX wagon in Canada and bring it to the states. But is that even legal?
Mechanically they should be identical. There might be some non-performance items that may be different though. It’s a good question, I’ve seen a lot of used WRX and STI’s imported from the states into Canada but never one that is brand new.
Wagons are so cool, you can do a whole lot more with them than a sedan in terms of capacity and carrying capability. Also, in a wagon, if you get carjacked and they put you in the boot, guess what, you still inside the car.
Perfect family car, grocery getter and even go fast wagon, especially if it comes with a manual, that’ll be so much fun. Btw, SOA called me since I inquired about it: they said no plans yet to bring it to the states.
I'm confused why everyone wants a WRX wagon. Is the extra trunk space that important? It's not like the sedan has a small trunk. Sedan also looks more sporty in my mind, less minivan like.
Oh yeah, if a wagon had been available when I bought my VB last year I certainly would have went wagon. You know what they say: Once you go wagon, you never go back.
I think the wagon version would be fail in the US; however, the front end, rear end and the lack of side cladding on the Levorg gives it a more attractive look than our current US sedan.
@@johnreed1268 I can appreciate your enthusiasm but the sedan isn’t even selling well in the US. Only around 1600 sold last month. Dealers are packed with them.
2009-2014 WRX STi A-line wasn’t exclusive to Japan. It was available in almost all markets worldwide except the US market. The “Sportshift” was just the name for the manual shifting mode - like Mitsubishi’s INVECS-II. The transmission in the A-line is basically the same Subaru 5EAT You would find in 2010-2014 Subaru Legacy and Outback, the only difference being the shorter differential final drive ratio in the A-line.
For most folks I recommend the WRX. If it's your daily driver/ use it on longer trips, it is smarter financially. Especially now save up a fat down payment to avoid these wild interest rates. Plus it will outdrive most folks abilities for a long time stock. You can then use the money you saved to customize it with better suspension, decor, etc. After the warranty is out, then you can mod the engine, tune it, etc and gain considerable power. The reason I went to the STI after owning my WRX for several years was because I could afford it and it's not my daily driver anymore. I got a good deal pre-pandemic on an 18 STI so I am lucky. You are paying for the brake package, suspension, better tranny, etc and it is worth it for a performance car. The STI was my dream car for over 20 years now (damn I feel old saying that). I drive it a couple times a month and have added some mods making around 365 to the wheels. Have fun with your cars, and to those folks dreaming of getting one some day, just keep working hard and saving. I promise it pays off.
Got my VB for the exact same reasons as you. Pretty hard to find a clean STI with low miles. I said I wasn't going to tune mine for a few years. One Black Friday sale later and I am pushing 350whp :)
Man I got my 2019 sti from car max..an I didn’t kno how to drive manual lmaooo I was in the parking lot for 3 hours trying to learn lol….stalked out everytime I stoped lmaooo
OWNED 2 STI'S (GR) AND OTHER WRXS AND TO BE HONEST, BESIDES THE TRANS/LSD'S I FEEL LIKE THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST CAR OVERALL. MY STI'S WERE STOCK AND MODDED SO IVE TRIED MAKING A TRULY UNBIASED COMPARISON..WITH A LITTLE SUSPENSION MODS ETC ITS JUST CRAZY HOW WELL THESE CARS RESPOND..HANDLING IS CRAZY. ONCE I DO THE STI DRIVETRAIN SWAP ILL BE GOOD TO GO
OH AND YES I OFTEN MISS THE EJ UNEQUAL LENGTH EXHAUST MANIFOLD RUMBLE BUT I DONT PLAN ON RUINING THE POWER,EFFICIENCY AND RELIABILITY THAT THE EQUAL LENGTH PROVIDES..AS HARD AS IT IS TO SAY GOODBYE TO THE OL' EJ ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS AT LEAST ITS NOT ELECTRIC AND WHERE ELSE YOU GOING TO GET SUCH A BARGAIN PRICE FOR A 4DOOR, MANUAL, AWD TURBO ? SUBARU REALLY WAS TIRED OF ALL THE HATE ON THEIR ENGINES AND REALLY DID THEIR HOMEWORK ON THIS PLATFORM.
