As someone whos lived here my whole life, the song isnt about us. he could have talked about any other river in the state that runs through it not mostly around it, he could have talked about the Appalachian mountains but chose the ones that barely run through us. Even if it is about us, its the laziest song he could make. Lean on Me by Bill Withers should have been the state song, because hes actually from here and it touches on our sense of love for our neighbors or community
It literally says ' Country roads Take me home to the place, I belong West Virginia ' And the mentions mentions Blue Ridge mountains (Appalachian mountains) wv is nothing but mountains and the Shenandoah River which mostly runs through the states of West Virginia and Virginia
Song is actually about maryland the song was written going down the country road called clopper road in western maryland. This came from the writers mouths of the song
"Nivert got out an encyclopedia to learn more about West Virginia. The first thing she encountered was the rhododendron, the state flower, so she kept trying to work the word Rhododendron into the song. Rhododendron was the title that Nivert had written down on the lyric sheet, which they later sent to ASCAP.[8] The three stayed up until 6:00 a.m., changing words and moving lines around.[11]" so when writing a song about Western Virginia they accidentally looked up things about West Virginia
Those who don’t think it’s about WV, y’all have never heard of the Eastern Panhandle. Both forms of geography the Blue Ridge and the Shenandoah River run through Jefferson County which is in WEST VIRGINIA
Damn. I would love to be present for one of these. I know the performance is the thing, but these tuning videos...I'm kinda addicted. That sound...when it goes pure. Damn.
Me: “Ah - 2018 warmup. I’ve watched this one fifty times already” thinking I’ll have no further emotional response, only to develop chills and, once again unconsciously state “holy shit!”
Finding, organizing, and directing this incredible brass line would definitely make me feel like "god". Their very beautiful synergistic brass tones at my fingertips. I get tears listening to this. In college, Senior Year, I felt like "god" just standing in front of our Marching Band Horn Section. PAC-10. Late 1970s. The only other thing that ever made me feel that way, was flying my own airplane across the United States of America. It was, psychologically, like having your own Time Machine. It's a different feeling for sure. But it definitely felt godlike. I was a physician anesthesiologist. Working on trauma patients and routine surgical patients. Essentially, I gave almost "lethal injections" to thousands of patients for many years. With an incredibly strict monitoring plan so they would wake up unharmed very soon soon after surgery. With no movement, consciousness, memory or any long term effects from the general anesthesia. I never ever felt like "god" at any time. I was just helping and providing a pain free surgical experience for my patients. Without anesthesiology, all modern surgery would not exist. BTW. The most I ever got from a Pharmaceutical company was free donuts at our once a month M&M conference. Times have changed. Incredible Sound. Brilliant. I played Trumpet from 5th grade through College. I would never have qualified for Drum and Bugle Corp as it exists today. But I do love that brass sound.
Beautiful footage outta this camera. I'm on the fence of getting one. Do you happen to have any C Raw Light footage available for download anywhere? I want to test my rig to see if it can handle it. Amazing work either way.
Thank you! That's awesome you're potentially looking at getting a C200. I think it's still a very relevant camera and produces a fantastic image every time I take it out. I love it and do not plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. Plus, with the recent price drop, I think there would potentially be some really killer deals on it in the used market. I'll upload a short clip that's under the transfer limit of WeTransfer. C Raw Light bitrate is 1Gbps so the file sizes are quite large, but hopefully it'll be enough to get a feel for how your rig would handle it! Link will be in the description!
