Intermission is over. The Bluecoats debut their 2021 program, "Lucy" during the Party in the Plaza event at Centennial Plaza in Canton, Ohio on August 1st, 2021. Also, in 4K with high quality audio!
After the year we had in 2020, I firmly believe in how important access to the arts and music is now more than ever. I hope that this video can bring you or someone you know so much joy with the passion for music making that these members bring to their performance. For any organization to gatekeep access to arts and music and lock it behind a paywall would be an absolute crime. If you have the resources to go to a DCI show and support the corps, please do. But if you don't, I hope that this brings you back that piece of drum corps that has been missing for the past year.
Also, anyone else recognize that tuba line at 07:21 from Tilt?

just recently had the pleasure of seeing Bluecoats perform live in Quincy. Ma. on Aug 4 2021 what a great show first time to a DCI event since my cousin Bob and myself were performing in the 60's ( veitnam war ) put an end to that.Two 72 year young gentlemen reunited with their drum corps family and having the best time in a long time it's great to see drum corps so strong loved every minute of the night . drum corps people are a breed amongst themselves I really felt so comfortable and i could of listen to the back in the day stories all night LONG LIVE DRUM CORPS we just need more of it I could be wrong but I have to admit that this new generation might be just a little more talented than wayway back in the day

Starting at 8:30 it sounds like the percussion is playing a mixed arrangement from percussion features from 2016 and 2017. Very noticeable are the percussion feature during the blind flag toss over the slides from 2016, the snare feature at the top of main slides from 2016 and the beginning of the psychopomp reprise from 2017 closer (especially in front ensemble you can almost hear psychopomp bleeding in).

A good chunk of my school band came to this!!! We were the large clump of kids behind the right drum major! We absolutely love the Bluecoats so when we heard this was happening it spread like wildfire. They actually sponsor our band since their HQ is like 3 minutes from our school!

I haven't been able to stop watching these videos of the competition as they are posting. This is an amazing composition, but it could have been screwed up royally with the wrong imagery and movement. The director killed it! This is so enjoyable to hear and a feast for the eyes. This mello book has everything we mellos love. The sustain that rips through the ensemble, the roundy-round runs, and enough sixteenth lead-ins to high notes to choke a horn judge.

Could be a recording that they're playing over quite perfectly or wireless midi (a trigger attached to the drum?) which is sent to a DAW and plays what is triggered from there. The sound itself seems something similar to feeding the snare sound through a vocoder. Cool stuff. If it is indeed synthesized live - then props to the keyboard player who also has to play the right chords at the right time so the chords match each solo. Can be quite technical.

Just caught this show in Mass last night, great performance! I actually perfer this show over the 2019. I assuming this was the planned 2020 show, because the production pieces and drill outpaced anything that was put together for the exhibition 2021 season.

If the songs are listed in order of appearance, it may be in the final third of the show. But it may not be a full rendition but maybe just some hints of the song.

Hey! Just saw this. The H6 has such a low noise floor using the default capsules that I just set levels low enough to not peak during performance and then boost levels later and add a limiter in my NLE.

Boy Drum Corps shows just do not translate to standstills anymore. Good thing Bloo's execution level is off the charts or this just wouldn't be entertaining as a standstill for long stretches of the show.

I bet the average person watching this spends half the time blown away by the incredible volume/sound and half the time scratching their heads trying to figure out what they heard exactly.
