Great video! I just got the first production unit MK-609 from Audioscape on Wednesday. Man I love how it sounds. The unit feels like it weighs 15-20 pounds. My rack picture(s) with it should be in Saturdays Audioscape newsletter/email they send out I believe according to Chris.
I've been against wrapper plugins because you are adding an extra plugin that's just housing other plugins. But also, you can't see what plugins are on each track until you open the wrapper. BUT!! I might be changing my mind on this one. What I do like is the layout in 500 series design where you only get the main controls. That makes for faster, more focused mixing. Also, you can save your channel strips as presets and then use any DAW to bring them back. And IK Multimedia doesn't use iLok which is great! Now, I need to wait for this to go on sale.
It’s completely clear that if someone buys a DSP sound interface, they’re looking to use its Plugins. It’s quite surprising that none of the promotional videos for this sound interface make any clear mention of the Plugins and effects, only making small references to a few guitar amps!! while most users are looking to use this device for vocal recording and use live Plugins like Auto tune !! This is quite embarrassing for Antelope Audio.
Im using studio one v6 and studiolive 32R, I want to use aux 1 out of 32R to get a aux mix in universal control. I have my chan. Inputs set yo anolog in universal control. I can record and hear playback in studio one. What would be the correct routing to utilize the aux mix.
The headphone amps are nowhere near the MT 48 quality. I have the Neumann and I have tried the zen q and the quadro and that was the weakest part of the Antelope devices. I had to crank all the way and they're high impedance which can alter the frequency response for low impedance headphones.
4 in and 4 out is a good number for bedroom guitarists. That will let you go in and out of the interface in stereo. Two in wont work if you want to go into the interface and have stereo input. A ton of other cool features for the price.
I have the Zen Quadro and I love it, but I will say in response to what you stated at 4:59 (having two USB connections) - look at the Lewitt Connect 6 (and it's $299). At 17:26, did you notice how your audio changed when you assigned Preamp 3 to both faders? Why do you think that happened? It goes back to "normal" at 18:28 once you assign the fader to Preamp 4. At 20:15, you say the reverb is not for recording. Actually, you can record it (using the loopback channels).
Such a cool idea! Takes me back actually-- I had made a similar setup once with the first version of Softube's Console 1 + Fader and a SSL 2+. Made a special drawer for them that went under my standing desk. Now after seeing yours I miss it somewhat 😀 Great job!
The console emulations are awesome, the EQ and compressors sections are awesome, however, the separation and depth is not there yet. I believe a hybrid can add that misding link! I LOVE HYBRID!
This unit is awesome. Top top audio interface. Merging technologies is releasing now new units with Dante instead of Ravenna. I heard around that they are working on something new that will stin the recording world again. Let's see but antelope is becoming leader now in the I dustry. I know many switching to antelope audio.
I got this plugin a few days ago, awesome kit. Don't throw it onto a mastered mix. Throw it on any channel strip you want and then on the mix bus. If you do your own mastering, you'll need a powerful limiter after it. It doesn't limit too well. I put the T-Racks One after it on the 2 bus. It works a treat. The Nfuse shapes the sound really well and the One gives more power and control of volume. PS - no reason why you can't open this app twice, having one as the SSL and the other as the Neve MBT. Twice the bang for your $. $6k for the hardware! $64 for the plugin. No brainer.
My take is keep the faders because if you need to adjust quick volume to something else that might clash with the track tour working one. You would have to click to that track lower volume then click back to work rather than just reaching over and muting or adjusting volume to other track without leaving the track your working on
Dope was checking this unit out I want to know how does it compare to something like a apogee symphony desktop people always mention the Neumann interface but I have the symphony desktop also and it sounds really good and natural
Speaking as someone that bought the Pro X based upon your videos a couple of years back, its really not fair for you keep on about how much better this unit is than that just to appease Icon...and after all that...I shan't bother to watch episodes 2, 3, and 4 as I expect the Pro X bashing will continue.. and I see the stereo master output on the bridge still doesn't work.....
LOL....I don't say ANYTHING to appease ANY company PEROID! If I tell you the unit is better, than it is AND it should be shouldn't it? When I company makes an update to a product after 4-5 years of the original release, that product should be better and in this case it is! does that mean you need to sell your Pro X? Of course not! use what you have if you are happy. stop watch RU-vid video for the next best thing and get back to actually working on music! :) LOL
I iwas recording today looking at my SSL2 thinking what happens if this just goes out one day should i try something else and Dave shows me this...I hope this isn't a sign, hehe
Could you possibly do a video on the bugs in studio one pipeline and possible get enough attention to get studio one to fix it? People has been asking for years and they have all but ignored it.
Watched all of these so far...great stuff..with just a few other little things, I guess the main disappointment is that the lower LCD doesn't do anything... so why is it there??
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Thank you for your kind words! We'll definitely keep you updated on our new releases and look forward to your valuable insights in the future!
This really cleared things up for me. My computer straight up chocked up when i tried to run a UA plugin. I wish they would have told me that when i was buying it. I'm mad at them now.
Hello, would you consider setting my Mac with my Apollo? Maybe I am too old for this but Luna isn't recording anything. I wouldn't want this service for free. Please let me know
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy For being Free I guess it is good enough. I used Cubase Pro 13 but sold my Lizenz a few days ago. Because I only mix my Guitar covers for me for fun and for that purpose it is enough but I know for real mixing engineers it will never be as good as other paid programs. It is kinda like Reaper back in the days Reaper was crappy AF but now there are some pros using it but it isnt free either now. 😅
if u had, for example, 30 channels and u selected channel no.28 in the software, would the hardware follow selected channel and move to the next bank? wanted to see this but u only had 15 channels.😢
Thanks for hinting the firmware update about auto gain compensation! I got this new from reverb from official retailer for 700€. I use it on my master bus one pair of tubes for low end and the second pair for top end saturation and it just opens the mix like plugins can't at the moment... So for me it's perfect addition to SSL UC1 / Softube Console1 to get that kinda analog summing sound and both low end warmth and top end crispness which helps to transform digital mixes a lot faster and more effortlessly... Thanks for the video!
I record myself at home and I've been using EZmix for years. 90% of the time I have to EQ a bit when mixing and using the master presets. I'm liking EZmix 3 more and more. I'm not a pro by any means.
The stereo field is better on the hardware and you can feel the dimension on the sound, also the definition increases. I love this video! I really want it to confirm with a second pair of ears what I found some time ago. I initially try this approach trying to get a less harsh sound of a horns virtual instrument that I like a lot and then by doing that I start noticing an improvement on the sound as well, then I took it to the next level by trying it on all my tracks.. I love hybrid mixing I couldn't have a studio without the digital world, there is a lot of digital tools and effects that it will cost thousands of dollars in the analog domain. In my experience, analog makes a bigger impact during tracking than over mixing. However, I respect the engineers that decides to work in the box, I'm not trying to say which approach is better, I'm just mentioning the facts as you can hear in this video.
Main reason this is the only bundle I own is because they cover all the bases and no ilok or helper apps running in the background. I’m still slowly getting rid of Slate Digital, Plugin Alliance, Waves, SSL and Softube. They have all kinds of junk running on my system. And don’t get me started with UA.
